  Abstract The production of J/psi and gamma mesons in pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector. The J/psi and gamma mesons are reconstructed in the mu(+)mu(-) decay mode and the signal yields are determined with a fit to the mu(+)mu(-) invariant mass distributions. The analysis is performed in the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5 and transverse momentum range 0 < PT < 14 (15) GeV/c of the J/psi (gamma) mesons. The J/psi and gamma production cross-sections and the fraction of J/psi mesons from b-hadron decays are measured as a function of the meson P-T and y.

  Title Measurement of the mass of the D-0 meson Type Journal Article

  Abstract We report a measurement of the D-0 meson mass using the decay chain D* (2010) + -> D-0 pi(+) with D-0 -> K-K-K+pi(+). The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Upsilon(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477 fb(-1). We obtain m(D-0) (1864: 841 +/- 0: 048 +/- 0: 063) MeV, where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The uncertainty of this measurement is half that of the best previous measurement.

  Title Measurement of the B+ -> omega l(+) nu branching fraction with semileptonically tagged B mesons Type Journal Article

  Abstract We report a measurement of the branching fraction of the exclusive charmless semileptonic decay B+ -> omega l(+) nu, where l is either an electron or amuon. We use samples of B+ mesons tagged by a reconstructed charmed semileptonic decay of the other B meson in the event. The measurement is based on a data set of 426.1 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) storage rings. We measure a branching fraction of B(B+ -> omega l(+) nu) = (1.35 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.11) x 10(-4), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also present measurements of the partial branching fractions in three bins of q(2), the invariant-mass squared of the lepton-neutrino system, and we compare them to theoretical predictions of the form factors.

  Abstract We report on a search for eleven lepton-number violating processes B+ -> X(-)l(+)l'(+) with X- = K-, pi(-), rho(-), K*(-), or D- and l(+)/l'(+) = e(+) or mu(+), using a sample of 471 +/- 3 million B (B) over bar events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no evidence for any of these modes and place 90% confidence level upper limits on their branching fractions in the range (1.5-26) x 10(-7).

  Title Evidence for the decay B-0 -> omega omega and search for B-0 -> omega phi Type Journal Article

  Abstract We describe searches for B meson decays to the charmless vector-vector final states omega omega and omega phi with 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs produced in e(+)e(-) annihilation at root s = 10.58 GeV using the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We measure the branching fraction B(B-0 -> omega omega) = (1.2 +/- 0.3(-0.2)(+0.3)) x 10(-6), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, corresponding to a significance of 4.4 standard deviations. We also determine the upper limit B(B-0 -> omega phi) < 0.7 x 10(-6) at 90% confidence level. These measurements provide the first evidence for the decay B-0 -> omega omega, and an improvement of the upper limit for the decay B-0 -> omega phi.

  Abstract We report a search for the decay (B) over bar (0) -> Lambda(+)(c)(p) over barp (p) over bar.   Abstract A first study of CP violation in the decay modes B-+/- -> [(KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+)](D)h(+/-) and B-+/- -> [(KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+)](D)h(+/-), where h labels a K or pi meson and D labels a D-0 or (D) over bar (0) meson, is performed. The analysis uses the LHCb data set collected in pp collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The analysis is sensitive to the CP-violating CKM phase gamma through seven observables: one charge asymmetry in each of the four modes and three ratios of the charge-integrated yields.   Abstract The LHCb measurement of the lifetime ratio of the Lambda(0)(b) baryon to the (B) over bar (0) meson is updated using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected using 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy pp collisions at the LHC. The decay modes used are Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi pK(-) and (B) over bar (0) -> J/psi pi K-+(-), where the pi K-+(-) mass is consistent with that of the (K) over bar*(0)(892) meson. The lifetime ratio is determined with unprecedented precision to be 0.974 +/- 0.006 +/- 0.004, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This result is in agreement with original theoretical predictions based on the heavy quark expansion. Using the current world average of the (B) over bar (0) lifetime, the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime is found to be 1.479 +/- 0.009 +/- 0.010 ps.

  Abstract Structure of the decay B0s. J=.pp- is studied using data corresponding to 3 fb- 1 of integrated luminosity from pp collisions produced by the LHC and collected by the LHCb detector. Five interfering pp- states are required to describe the decay: F-0(980), F-0(1500), F-0(1790), F-2 (1270) and F-2(1525) An alternative model including these states and a nonresonant J=.pp- component also provides a good description of the data. Based on the different transversity components measured for the spin- 2 intermediate states, the final state is found to be compatible with being entirely CP odd. The CP- even part is found to be < 2.3% at a 95% confidence level. The f 0d500 state is not observed, allowing a limit to be set on the absolute value of the mixing angle with the f 0d980 of < 7.7 at a 90% confidence level, consistent with a tetraquark interpretation of the f(0)(980) substructure.

  Title Observation of Photon Polarization in the b -> s gamma Transition Type Journal Article

  Abstract This Letter presents a study of the flavor-changing neutral current radiative B-+/- -> K-+/-pi(-/+)pi(+/-)gamma decays performed using data collected in proton-proton collisions with the LHCb detector at 7 and 8 TeV center-of-mass energies. In this sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), nearly 14 000 signal events are reconstructed and selected, containing all possible intermediate resonances with a K-+/-pi(-/+)pi(+/-) final state in the [1.1, 1.9] GeV/c(2) mass range. The distribution of the angle of the photon direction with respect to the plane defined by the final-state hadrons in their rest frame is studied in intervals of K-+/-pi(-/+)pi(+/-) mass and the asymmetry between the number of signal events found on each side of the plane is obtained. The first direct observation of the photon polarization in the b -> s(gamma) transition is reported with a significance of 5.2 sigma.
