Abstract |
We analyze the properties of a two-and three-dimensional quantum walk that are inspired by the idea of a brane-world model put forward by Rubakov and Shaposhnikov [Phys. Lett. B 125, 136 (1983)]. In that model, particles are dynamically confined on the brane due to the interaction with a scalar field. We translated this model into an alternate quantum walk with a coin that depends on the external field, with a dependence which mimics a domain wall solution. As in the original model, fermions (in our case, the walker) become localized in one of the dimensions, not from the action of a random noise on the lattice (as in the case of Anderson localization) but from a regular dependence in space. On the other hand, the resulting quantum walk can move freely along the “ordinary” dimensions. |

Abstract |
A search for the charmless B-s(0) -> eta'phi decay is performed using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). No signal is observed and upper limits on the B-s(0) -> eta'phi branching fraction are set to 0.82 x 10(-6) at 90% and 1.01 x 10(-6) at 95% confidence level. |

Abstract |
Gamma-ray bursts are thought to be sites of hadronic acceleration, thus neutrinos are expected from the decay of charged particles, produced in p gamma interactions. The methods and results of a search for muon neutrinos in the data of the ANTARES neutrino telescope from four bright GRBs (GRB 080916C, GRB 110918A, GRB 130427A and GRB 130505A) observed between 2008 and 2013 are presented. Two scenarios of the fireball model have been investigated: the internal shock scenario, leading to the production of neutrinos with energies mainly above 100 TeV, and the photospheric scenario, characterized by a low-energy component in neutrino spectra due to the assumption of neutrino production closer to the central engine. Since no neutrino events have been detected in temporal and spatial coincidence with these bursts, upper limits at 90 per cent confidence level on the expected neutrino fluxes are derived. The non-detection allows for directly constraining the bulk Lorentz factor of the jet Gamma and the baryon loading f(p). |

Abstract |
T2K reports its first results in the search for CP violation in neutrino oscillations using appearance and disappearance channels for neutrino-and antineutrino-mode beams. The data include all runs from January 2010 to May 2016 and comprise 7.482 x 10(20) protons on target in neutrino mode, which yielded in the far detector 32 e-like and 135 mu-like events, and 7.471 x 10(20) protons on target in antineutrino mode, which yielded 4 e-like and 66 mu-like events. Reactor measurements of sin(2) 2 theta(13) have been used as an additional constraint. The one-dimensional confidence interval at 90% for the phase delta(CP) spans the range (-3.13,-0.39) for normal mass ordering. The CP conservation hypothesis (delta(CP) = 0, pi) is excluded at 90% C.L. |

Abstract |
We propose a model where neutrino masses are generated at three loop order but neutrinoless double beta decay occurs at one loop. Thus we can have large neutrinoless double beta decay observable in the future experiments even when the neutrino masses are very small. The model receives strong constraints from the neutrino data and lepton flavor violating decays, which substantially reduces the number of free parameters. Our model also opens up the possibility of having several new scalars below the TeV regime, which can be explored at the collider experiments. Additionally, our model also has an unbroken Z(2) symmetry which allows us to identify a viable Dark Matter candidate. |

Abstract |
Using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), recorded by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the B-c(+) -> (DK+)-K-0 decay is observed with a statistical significance of 5.1 standard deviations. By normalizing to B-c(+) -> (D) over bar (0)pi(+) decays, a measurement of the branching fraction multiplied by the production rates for B-c(+) relative to B+ mesons in the LHCb acceptance is obtained, R-D0K = (f(c)/f(u)) x B(B-c(+) -> (DK+)-K-0) = (9.3(-2.5)(+2.8) +/- 0.6) x 10(-7), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This decay is expected to proceed predominantly through weak annihilation and penguin amplitudes, and is the first B-c(+) decay of this nature to be observed. |

The measured CP-violating charge asymmetries are A(CP)(D-+/- -> eta 'pi(+/-)) = (-0.61 +/- 0.72 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.12)% and A(CP)(D-S(+/-) -> eta 'pi(+/-)) = (-0.82 +/- 0.36 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.27)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third are the uncertainties on the A(CP)(D-+/- -> K-S(0)pi(+/-)) and A(CP)(D-S(+/-) -> phi pi(+/-)) measurements used for calibration. The results represent the most precise measurements of these asymmetries to date. |

Abstract |
We demonstrate that the eight multipole parameters describing the spin state of the Z boson are able to disentangle known Z production mechanisms and signals from new physics at the LHC. They can be extracted from appropriate asymmetries in the angular distribution of lepton pairs from the Z boson decay. The power of this analysis is illustrated by (1) the production of Z boson plus jets; (2) Z boson plus missing transverse energy; (3) W and Z bosons originating from the two-body decay of a heavy resonance. |

Abstract |
Various particle physics models suggest that, besides the (nearly) cold dark matter that accounts for current observations, additional but sub-dominant dark relics might exist. These could be warm, hot, or even contribute as dark radiation. We present here a comprehensive study of two-component dark matter scenarios, where the first component is assumed to be cold, and the second is a non-cold thermal relic. Considering the cases where the non-cold dark matter species could be either a fermion or a boson, we derive consistent upper limits on the non-cold dark relic energy density for a very large range of velocity dispersions, covering the entire range from dark radiation to cold dark matter. To this end, we employ the latest Planck Cosmic Microwave Background data, the recent BOSS DR11 and other Baryon Acoustic Oscillation measurements, and also constraints on the number of Milky Way satellites, the latter of which provides a measure of the suppression of the matter power spectrum at the smallest scales due to the free-streaming of the non-cold dark matter component. We present the results on the fraction f(ncdm) of non-cold dark matter with respect to the total dark matter for different ranges of the non-cold dark matter masses. We find that the 2 sigma limits for non-cold dark matter particles with masses in the range 1-10 keV are f(ncdm) <= 0.29 (0.23) for fermions (bosons), and for masses in the 10-100 keV range they are f(ncdm) <= 0.43 (0.45), respectively. |

Abstract |
In a well-established many-body framework, successful in modeling a great variety of nuclear processes, we analyze the role of the spectral functions (SFs) accounting for the modifications of the dispersion relation of nucleons embedded in a nuclear medium. We concentrate in processes mostly governed by one-body mechanisms, and study possible approximations to evaluate the particle hole propagator using SFs. We also investigate how to include together SFs and long-range RPA-correlation corrections in the evaluation of nuclear response functions, discussing the existing interplay between both type of nuclear effects. At low energy transfers (<= 50 MeV), we compare our predictions for inclusive muon and radiative pion captures in nuclei, and charge-current (CC) neutrino-nucleus cross sections with experimental results. We also present an analysis of intermediate energy quasi-elastic neutrino scattering for various targets and both neutrino and antineutrino CC driven processes. In all cases, we pay special attention to estimate the uncertainties affecting the theoretical predictions. In particular, we show that errors on the a,,sigma(mu)/sigma(e) ratio are much smaller than 5%, and also much smaller than the size of the SF+RPA nuclear corrections, which produce significant effects, not only in the individual cross sections, but also in their ratio for neutrino energies below 400 MeV. These latter nuclear corrections, beyond Pauli blocking, turn out to be thus essential to achieve a correct theoretical understanding of this ratio of cross sections of interest for appearance neutrino oscillation experiments. We also briefly compare our SF and RPA results to predictions obtained within other representative approaches. |
