Title Single pion production in neutrino-nucleus scattering Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 87 Issue 11 Pages 113009 - 11pp
  Keywords
Abstract We study 1 pi production in both charged and neutral current neutrino-nucleus scattering for neutrino energies below 2 GeV. We use a theoretical model for one pion production at the nucleon level that we correct for medium effects. The results are incorporated into a cascade program that apart from production also includes the pion final state interaction inside the nucleus. Besides, in some specific channels coherent pi production is also possible and we evaluate its contribution as well. Our results for total and differential cross sections are compared with recent data from the MiniBooNE Collaboration. The model provides an overall acceptable description of the data, better for neutral-current than for charged-current channels, although the theory is systematically below the data. Differential cross sections, folded with the full neutrino flux, show that most of the missing pions lie in the forward direction and at high energies.

Title Inclusive charged-current neutrino-nucleus reactions Type Journal Article

  Volume 83 Issue 4 Pages 045501 - 19pp
  Keywords
Abstract We present a model for weak charged-current induced nuclear reactions at energies of interest for current and future neutrino oscillation experiments. This model is a natural extension of the work in Refs. [1,2], where the quasielastic contribution to the inclusive electron and neutrino scattering on nuclei was analyzed. The model is based on a systematic many-body expansion of the gauge boson absorption modes that includes one, two, and even three-body mechanisms, as well as the excitation of Delta isobars. The whole scheme has no free parameters, besides those previously adjusted to the weak pion production off the nucleon cross sections in the deuteron, since all nuclear effects were set up in previous studies of photon, electron, and pion interactions with nuclei. We have discussed at length the recent charged-current quasielastic MiniBooNE cross section data, and showed that two-nucleon knockout mechanisms are essential to describing these measurements.

Title The nucleon axial mass and the MiniBooNE quasielastic neutrino-nucleus scattering problem Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physics Letters B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Lett. B
  Volume 707 Issue 1 Pages 72-75

Abstract The charged-current double differential neutrino cross section, measured by the MiniBooNE Collaboration, has been analyzed using a microscopical model that accounts for, among other nuclear effects, long range nuclear (RPA) correlations and multinucleon scattering. We find that MiniBooNE data are fully compatible with the world average of the nucleon axial mass in contrast with several previous analyses which have suggested an anomalously large value. We also discuss the reliability of the algorithm used to estimate the neutrino energy.

Title Neutrino energy reconstruction and the shape of the charged current quasielastic-like total cross section Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 85 Issue 11 Pages 113008 - 9pp
  Keywords
Abstract We show that because of the multinucleon mechanism effects, the algorithm used to reconstruct the neutrino energy is not adequate when dealing with quasielastic-like events, and a distortion of the total flux-unfolded cross-section shape is produced. This amounts to a redistribution of strength from high to low energies, which gives rise to a sizable excess (deficit) of low (high) energy neutrinos. This distortion of the shape leads to a good description of the MiniBooNE unfolded charged current quasielastic-like cross sections published by A. A. Aguilar-Arevalo et al. [(MiniBooNE Collaboration), Phys. Rev. D 81, 092005 (2010)]. However, these changes in the shape are artifacts of the unfolding process that ignores multinucleon mechanisms.

Abstract We investigate the neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold in covariant chiral perturbation theory with the explicit inclusion of A degrees of freedom. This channel is specially sensitive to chiral dynamics and the advent of very precise data from the Mainz microtron has shown the limits of the convergence of the chiral series for both the heavy baryon and the covariant approaches. We show that the inclusion of the Delta resonance substantially improves the convergence leading to a good agreement with data for a wider range of energies.

Title Watson's theorem and the N Delta(1232) axial transition Type Journal Article

Abstract We present a new determination of the N Delta axial form factors from neutrino induced pion production data. For this purpose, the model of Hernandez et al. [Phys. Rev. D 76, 033005 (2007)] is improved by partially restoring unitarity. This is accomplished by imposing Watson's theorem on the dominant vector and axial multipoles. As a consequence, a larger C-5(A) (0), in good agreement with the prediction from the off-diagonal Goldberger-Treiman relation, is now obtained.

Title Masses of doubly charmed baryons in the extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 93 Issue 9 Pages 094002 - 8pp
  Keywords
Abstract In this work, we investigate the mass corrections of the doubly charmed baryons up to (NLO)-L-2 in the extended-on-mass-shell (EOMS) renormalization scheme, comparing with the results of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. We find that the terms from the heavy baryon approach are a subset of those obtained in the EOMS scheme. By fitting the lattice data, we can determine the parameters (m) over tilde, alpha, c(1) and c(7) from the Lagrangian, while in the heavy baryon approach no information on c(1) can be obtained from the baryons mass. Correspondingly, the masses of m(Xi cc) and m(Omega cc) are predicted, in the EOMS scheme, extrapolating the results from different values of the charm quark and the pion masses of the lattice QCD calculations.

Abstract We calculate the neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory, including the Delta(1232) resonance as an explicit degree of freedom, up to chiral order p(7/2) in the delta counting. We compare our results with recent low-energy data from the Mainz Microtron for angular distributions and photon asymmetries. The convergence of the chiral series of the covariant approach is found to improve substantially with the inclusion of the Delta(1232) resonance.

Title phi meson self-energy in nuclear matter from phi N resonant interactions Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
  Volume 95 Issue 1 Pages 015201 - 9pp
  Keywords
Abstract The phi-meson properties in cold nuclear matter are investigated by implementing resonant phi N interactions as described in effective approaches including the unitarization of scattering amplitudes. Several N*-like states are dynamically generated in these models around 2 GeV, in the vicinity of the phi N threshold. We find that both these states and the non-resonant part of the amplitude contribute sizably to the phi collisional self-energy at finite nuclear density. These contributions are of a similar strength as the widely studied medium effects from the KK cloud. Depending on model details (position of the resonances and strength of the coupling to phi N) we report a phi broadening up to about 40-50 MeV, to be added to the phi -> KK in-medium decay width, and an attractive optical potential at threshold up to about 35 MeV at normal matter density. The phi spectral function develops a double peak structure as a consequence of the mixing of resonance-hole modes with the phi quasiparticle peak. The former results point in the direction of making up for missing absorption as reported in phi nuclear production experiments.

Title phi meson transparency in nuclei from phi N resonant interactions Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
  Volume 96 Issue 3 Pages 034618 - 6pp
  Keywords
Abstract We investigate the phi meson nuclear transparency using some recent theoretical developments on the phi in medium self-energy. The inclusion of direct resonant phi N scattering and the kaon decay mechanisms leads to a phi width much larger than in most previous theoretical approaches. The model has been confronted with photoproduction data from CLAS and LEPS and the recent proton induced phi production from COSY finding an overall good agreement. The results support the need of a quite large direct phi N-scattering contribution to the self-energy.
