Title Measurement of J/psi production cross-sections in pp collisions at root s=5 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 11 Issue 11 Pages (down) 181 - 32pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Heavy quark production; QCD; Quarkonium
Abstract The production cross-sections of J/psi mesons in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 5TeV are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.13 +/- 0.18 pb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment. The cross-sections are measured differentially as a function of transverse momentum, p(T), and rapidity, y, and separately for J/psi mesons produced promptly and from beauty hadron decays (nonprompt). With the assumption of unpolarised J/psi mesons, the production cross-sections integrated over the kinematic range 0 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c and 2.0 < y < 4.5 are sigma(prompt) J/psi = 8.154 +/- 0.010 +/- 0.283 μb, sigma(nonprompt) J/psi = 0.820 +/- 0.003 +/- 0.034 μb, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These cross-sections are compared with those at root s = 8TeV and 13TeV, and are used to update the measurement of the nuclear modification factor in proton-lead collisions for J/psi mesons at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of root s(NN) = 5TeV. The results are compared with theoretical predictions.

Title Search for dark matter in events with a hadronically decaying vector boson and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 10 Issue 10 Pages (down) 180 - 58pp
Keywords Beyond Standard Model; Dark matter; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract A search for dark matter (DM) particles produced in association with a hadronically decaying vector boson is performed using pp collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1), recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. This analysis improves on previous searches for processes with hadronic decays of W and Z bosons in association with large missing transverse momentum (mono-W/Z searches) due to the larger dataset and further optimization of the event selection and signal region definitions. In addition to the mono-W/Z search, the as yet unexplored hypothesis of a new vector boson Z produced in association with dark matter is considered (mono-Z search). No significant excess over the Standard Model prediction is observed. The results of the mono-W/Z search are interpreted in terms of limits on invisible Higgs boson decays into dark matter particles, constraints on the parameter space of the simplified vector-mediator model and generic upper limits on the visible cross sections for W/Z+DM production. The results of the mono-Z search are shown in the framework of several simplified-model scenarios involving DM production in association with the Z boson.

Title Sensitivity to light sterile neutrino mixing parameters with KM3NeT/ORCA Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 10 Issue 10 Pages (down) 180 - 26pp
Keywords Neutrino Detectors and Telescopes (experiments); Oscillation
Abstract KM3NeT/ORCA is a next-generation neutrino telescope optimised for atmospheric neutrino oscillations studies. In this paper, the sensitivity of ORCA to the presence of a light sterile neutrino in a 3+1 model is presented. After three years of data taking, ORCA will be able to probe the active-sterile mixing angles theta(14), theta(24), theta(34) and the effective angle theta(mu e), over a broad range of mass squared difference Delta m(41)(2) similar to [10(-5), 10] eV(2), allowing to test the eV-mass sterile neutrino hypothesis as the origin of short baseline anomalies, as well as probing the hypothesis of a very light sterile neutrino, not yet constrained by cosmology. ORCA will be able to explore a relevant fraction of the parameter space not yet reached by present measurements.

Title Angular analysis and differential branching fraction of the decay B-s(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-) Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 09 Issue 9 Pages (down) 179 - 35pp
Keywords Rare decay; Hadron-Hadron Scattering; B physics; Flavor physics
Abstract An angular analysis and a measurement of the differential branching fraction of the decay B-s(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-) are presented, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) of pp collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment at root s = 7 and 8 TeV. Measurements are reported as a function of q(2), the square of the dimuon invariant mass and results of the angular analysis are found to be consistent with the Standard Model. In the range 1 < q(2) < 6 GeV2/c(4), where precise theoretical calculations are available, the differential branching fraction is found to be more than 3 sigma below the Standard Model predictions.

Title Measurement of isolated-photon plus two-jet production in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 03 Issue 3 Pages (down) 179 - 49pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Hard scattering; Jets; Photon production
Abstract The dynamics of isolated-photon plus two-jet production in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are studied with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1). Cross sections are measured as functions of a variety of observables, including angular correlations and invariant masses of the objects in the final state, gamma + jet + jet. Measurements are also performed in phase-space regions enriched in each of the two underlying physical mechanisms, namely direct and fragmentation processes. The measurements cover the range of photon (jet) transverse momenta from 150 GeV (100 GeV) to 2 TeV. The tree-level plus parton-shower predictions from Sherpa and Pythia as well as the next-to-leading-order QCD predictions from Sherpa are compared with the measurements. The next-to-leading-order QCD predictions describe the data adequately in shape and normalisation except for regions of phase space such as those with high values of the invariant mass or rapidity separation of the two jets, where the predictions overestimate the data.
