Abstract: Motivated by a possible interplay between the mechanism of dynamical symmetry breaking and the seesaw mechanism for generating fermion masses, we present a scale-invariant model that extends the gauge symmetry of the Standard Model electroweak sector to SU(3)L (R) U(1)X (R) U(1)N, with a built-in B – L symmetry. The model is based on the symmetry structure of the known 3-3-1 models and, thus, it relates the number of the three observed fermion generations with the cancellation of gauge anomalies. Symmetry breaking is triggered via the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism, taking into account a minimal set of scalar field multiplets. We establish the stability conditions for the tree-level scalar potential imposing the copositivity criteria and use the method of Gildener-Weinberg for computing the one-loop effective potential when one has multiple scalar fields. With the addition of vectorial fermions, getting their mass mainly through the vacuum expectation value of scalar singlets at 103 TeV, the B – L symmetry leads to textures for the fermion mass matrices, allowing seesaw mechanisms for neutrinos and quarks to take place. In particular, these mechanisms could partly explain the mass hierarchies of the quarks. Once the breakdown of the SU(3)L symmetry is supposed to occur around 10 TeV, the model also predicts new particles with TeV-scale masses, such as a neutral scalar H1, a charged scalar HI, and the gauge bosons Z', W'I, and Y0, that could be searched with the high-luminosity LHC.

Abstract: We use the local hidden gauge approach in order to study the B (B) over bar* and B*(B) over bar* interactions for isospin I = 1. We show that both interactions via one light meson exchange are not allowed by the Okubo-ZweigIizuka rule and, for that reason, we calculate the contributions due to the exchange of two pions, interacting and noninteracting among themselves, and also due to the heavy vector mesons. Then, to compare all these contributions, we use the potential related to the heavy vector exchange as an effective potential corrected by a factor which takes into account the contribution of the other light meson exchanges. In order to look for poles, this effective potential is used as the kernel of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. As a result, for the B (B) over bar* interaction we find a loosely bound state with mass in the range 10587-10601 MeV, very close to the experimental value of the Z(b)(10610) reported by the Belle Collaboration. For the B*(B) over bar* case, we find a cusp at 10650 MeV for all spin J = 0, 1, 2 cases.

Abstract: We study theoretically the BD (D) over bar and BDD systems to see if they allow for possible bound or resonant states. The three-body interaction is evaluated implementing the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations which considers the interaction of a D or (D) over bar particle with the components of a BD cluster, previously proved to form a bound state. We find an I(J(P)) = 1/2(0(-)) bound state for the BD (D) over bar system at an energy around 8925-8985 MeV within uncertainties, which would correspond to a bottom hidden-charm meson. In contrast, for the BDD system, which would be bottom double-charm and hence manifestly exotic, we have found hints of a bound state in the energy region 8935-8985 MeV, but the results are not stable under the uncertainties of the model, and we cannot assure, nor rule out, the possibility of a BDD three-body state.

Abstract: Stimulated by the new experimental LHCb findings associated with the Omega(c) states, some of which we have described in a previous work as being dynamically generated through meson-baryon interaction, we have extended this approach to make predictions for new Xi(cc) molecular states in the C = 2, S = 0, and I = 1/2 sector. These states manifest themselves as poles in the solution of the Bethe-Salpeter equation in coupled channels. The kernels of this equation were obtained using general Lagrangians coming from the hidden local gauge symmetry or massive Yang-Mills theory, and the interactions are dominated by the exchange of light vector mesons. The extension of this approach to the heavy sector stems from the realization that the dominant interaction corresponds to having the heavy quarks as spectators, which implies the preservation of the heavy quark symmetry. As a result, we get several states: three states from the pseudoscalar meson-baryon interaction with J(P) = 1/2(-), and masses around 3840, 4080 and 4090 MeV, and two at 3920 and 4150 MeV for J(P) = 3/2(-). Furthermore, from the vector meson-baryon interaction we get three states degenerate with J(P) 1/2(-) and 3/2(-) from 4220 MeV to 4290 MeV, and two more states around 4280 and 4370 MeV, degenerate with J(P) = 1/2(-), 3/2(-), and 5/2(-).

Abstract: We study the D-s(+)-> pi(+) pi(+) pi(-) and D-s(+) -> pi(+) K+ K- decays adopting a mechanism in which the D-s(+) meson decays weakly into a pi+ and a q (q) over bar component, which hadronizes into two pseudoscalar mesons. The final state interaction between these two pseudoscalar mesons is taken into account by using the chiral unitary approach in coupled channels, which gives rise to the f(0)(980) resonance. Hence, we obtain the invariant mass distributions of the pairs pi(+) pi(-) and K+ K- after the decay of that resonance and compare our theoretical amplitudes with those available from the experimental data. Our results are in a fair agreement with the shape of these data, within large experimental uncertainty, and a f(0)(980) signal is seen in both the pi(+) pi(-) and K+ K- distributions. Predictions for the relative size of pi(+) pi(-) and K+ K- distributions are made.

Abstract: We study three-body systems composed of D(*), B(*), and (B) over bar(*) in order to look for possible bound states or resonances. In order to solve the three-body problem, we use the fixed center approach for the Faddeev equations considering that the B*(B) over bar*(B (B) over bar) are clusterized systems, generated dynamically, which interact with a third particle D((D) over bar) whose mass is much smaller than the two-body bound states forming the cluster. In the DB*(B) over bar*, D*B*(B) over bar*, DB (B) over bar, and D*B (B) over bar systems with I = 1/2, we found clear bound state peaks with binding energies typically a few tens MeV and more uncertain broad resonant states about ten MeV above the threshold with widths of a few tens MeV.

Abstract: Current results of the MiniBooNE experiment show excess events that indicate neutrino oscillations, but only if one goes beyond the standard 3 family scenario. Recently a different explanation of the events has been given, not in terms of oscillations but by the production and decay of a massive sterile neutrino with large transition magnetic moment. We study the effect of such a sterile neutrino in the rare decays tau(-) -> mu(-)mu(+)pi(-)nu and tau(-) -> mu(-)mu(+)e(-)nu nu. We find that searches for these decays, featuring displaced vertices between the mu(-) and the other charged particles, constitute reliable tests for the existence of the sterile neutrino proposed to explain the MiniBooNE anomaly. These searches could be done with already existing experimental data.

Abstract: We explore two bilarge neutrino mixing Anzatze within the context of Abelian flavor symmetry theories: (BL1) sin theta(12) similar to lambda, sin theta(13) similar to lambda, sin theta(23) similar to lambda, and (BL2) sin theta(12) similar to lambda, sin theta(13) similar to lambda, sin theta(23) similar to 1 – lambda. The first pattern is proposed by two of us and is favored if the atmospheric mixing angle theta(23) lies in the first octant, while the second one is preferred for the second octant of theta(23). In order to reproduce the second texture, we find that the flavor symmetry should be U(1) x Z(m), while for the first pattern the flavor symmetry should be extended to U(1) x Z(m) x Z(n) with m and n of different parity. Explicit models for both mixing patterns are constructed based on the flavor symmetries U(1) x Z(3) x Z(4) and U(1) x Z(2). The models are extended to the quark sector within the framework of SU(5) grand unified theory in order to give a successful description of quark and lepton masses and mixing simultaneously. Phenomenological implications are discussed.

Abstract: We test the impact of the ATLAS and CMS multilepton searches performed at the LHC with 8 as well as 13 TeV center-of-mass energy (using only the pre-2018 results) on the chargino and neutralino sector of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM). Our purpose consists in analyzing the actual reach of these searches for a full model and in emphasizing effects beyond the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) that affect the performance of current (MSSM-inspired) electroweakino searches. To this end, we consider several scenarios characterizing specific features of the NMSSM electroweakino sector. We then perform a detailed collider study, generating Monte Carlo events through PYTHIA and testing against current LHC constraints implemented in the public tool CheckMATE. We find e.g., that supersymmetric decay chains involving intermediate singlino or Higgs-singlet states can modify the naive MSSM-like picture of the constraints by inducing final states with softer or less easily identifiable SM particles-reversely, a compressed configuration with singlino next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle occasionally induces final states that are rich with photons, which could provide complementary search channels.

Abstract: We study the scaling with the number of colors, N-c, of the weak amplitudes mediating kaon mixing and decay. We evaluate the amplitudes of the two relevant current-current operators on the lattice for N-c = 3-7. We conclude that the subleading 1/N-c corrections in B-k, are small, but those in the K -> pi pi amplitudes are large and fully anticoirelated in the I = 0, 2 isospin channels. We briefly comment on the implications for the Delta I = 1/2 rule.
