Abstract |
We study the f(+) form factor for the semileptonic (B) over bar (s) -> K+ l(-) (V) over bar (l) decay in a constituent quark model. The valence quark estimate is supplemented with the contribution from the (B) over bar* pole that dominates the high q(2) region. We use a multiply-subtracted Omnes dispersion relation to extend the quark model predictions from its region of applicability near q(max)(2) = (M-Bs – M-K)(2) similar to 23.75 GeV2 to all q(2) values accessible in the physical decay. To better constrain the dependence of f(+) on q(2), we fit the subtraction constants to a combined input from previous light cone sum rule by Duplancic and Melic (2008) [11] and the present quark model results. From this analysis, we obtain Gamma ( (B) over bar (s) -> K+ l(-) (V) over bar (l)) = (5.47(-0.46)(+0.54)) vertical bar Vub vertical bar(2) x 10(-9) MeV, which is about 10% and 20% higher than the predictions based on Lattice QCD and QCD light cone sum rules respectively. The former predictions, for both the form factor f(+) (q(2)) and the differential decay width, lie within the 1 sigma band of our estimated uncertainties for all q(2) values accessible in the physical decay, except for a quite small region very close to q(max)(2). Differences with the light cone sum results for the form factor f(+) are larger than 20% in the region above q(2) = 15 GeV2. |

Abstract |
The Gamow-Teller strength distribution of the decay of Hg-186 into Au-186 has been determined for the first time using the total absorption gamma spectroscopy technique and has been compared with theoretical QRPA calculations using the SLy4 Skyrme force. The measured Gamow-Teller strength distribution and the half-life are described by mixing oblate and prolate configurations independently in the parent and daughter nuclei. In this theoretical framework the best description of the experimental beta strength is obtained with dominantly prolate components for both parent Hg-186 and daughter Au-186. The approach also allowed us to determine an upper limit of the oblate component in the parent state. The complexity of the analysis required the development of a new approach in the analysis of the X-ray gated total absorption spectrum. |

Abstract |
We analyze a model with unbroken U(1)(B-L) gauge symmetry where neutrino masses are generated at one loop, after spontaneous breaking of a global U(1)(G) symmetry. These symmetries ensure dark matter (DM) stability and the Diracness of neutrinos. Within this context, we examine fermionic dark matter. Consistency between the required neutrino mass and the observed relic abundance indicates dark matter masses and couplings within the reach of direct detection experiments. |

Abstract |
We discuss a non-supersymmetric scenario which addresses the origin of the matter-parity symmetry, P-M = (-1)(3(B-L)+2s), leading to a viable Dirac fermion dark matter candidate. Implications to electroweak precision, muon anomalous magnetic moment, flavor changing interactions, lepton flavor violation, dark matter and collider physics are discussed in detail. We show that this non-supersymmetric model is capable of generating the matter-parity symmetry in agreement with existing data with gripping implications to particle physics and cosmology. |

Abstract |
A measurement of the polarisation of Wbosons produced in top-quark decays is presented, using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of v s= 13TeV. The data were collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 139fb(-1). The measurement is performed selecting t tevents decaying into final states with two charged leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two b-tagged jets. The polarisation is extracted from the differential cross-section distribution of the cos theta* variable, where theta(*) is the angle between the momentum direction of the charged lepton from the Wboson decay and the reversed momentum direction of the b-quark from the top-quark decay, both calculated in the Wboson rest frame. Parton-level results, corrected for the detector acceptance and resolution, are presented for the cos theta* angle. The measured fractions of longitudinal, left- and right-handed polarisation states are found to be f(0) = 0.684 +/- 0.005 (stat.)+/- 0.014 (syst.), f(L)= 0.318 +/- 0.003 (stat.)+/- 0.008 (syst.) and f(R)=-0.002 +/- 0.002 (stat.)+/- 0.014 (syst.), in agreement with the Standard Model prediction. |

Abstract |
Measurements of joint-polarisation states of Wand Zgauge bosons in W +/- Z production are presented. The data set used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 139fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The W +/- Z candidate events are reconstructed using leptonic decay modes of the gauge bosons into electrons and muons. The simultaneous pair-production of longitudinally polarised vector bosons is measured for the first time with a significance of 7.1 standard deviations. The measured joint helicity fractions integrated over the fiducial region are f(00)= 0.067 +/- 0.010, f(0T) = 0.110 +/- 0.029, f(T0) = 0.179 +/- 0.023 and f(TT) = 0.644 +/- 0.032, in agreement with the next-to-leading-order Standard Model predictions. Individual helicity fractions of the Wand Zbosons are also measured and found to be consistent with joint helicity fractions within the expected amounts of correlation. Both the joint and individual helicity fractions are also measured separately in W+Z and W-Z events. Inclusive and differential cross sections for several kinematic observables sensitive to polarisation are presented. |

Abstract |
Studies of the spin and parity quantum numbers of the Higgs boson are presented, based on protonproton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The Standard Model spin-parity J(P) = 0(+) hypothesis is compared with alternative hypotheses using the Higgs boson decays H -> gamma gamma, H -> ZZ* -> 4l and H -> WW* -> l nu l nu, as well as the combination of these channels. The analysed dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb(-1) collected at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 8 TeV. For the H -> ZZ* -> 4l decay mode the dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb(-1) collected at root s = 7 TeV is included. The data are compatible with the Standard Model J(P) = 0+ quantum numbers for the Higgs boson, whereas all alternative hypotheses studied in this Letter, namely some specific J(P) = 0(-), 1(+), 1(-), 2(+) models, are excluded at confidence levels above 97.8%. This exclusion holds independently of the assumptions on the coupling strengths to the Standard Model particles and in the case of the J(P) = 2(+) model, of the relative fractions of gluon-fusion and quark-antiquark production of the spin-2 particle. The data thus provide evidence for the spin-0 nature of the Higgs boson, with positive parity being strongly preferred. |

Abstract |
We study the energy distribution and equation of state of the universe between the end of inflation and the onset of radiation domination (RD), considering observationally consistent single-field inflationary scenarios, with a potential 'flattening' at large field values, and a monomial shape V(phi) proportional to vertical bar phi vertical bar(p) around the origin. As a proxy for (p)reheating, we include a quadratic interaction g(2)phi X-2(2) between the inflaton phi and a light scalar 'daughter' field X, with g(2) > 0. We capture the non-perturbative and non-linear nature of the system dynamics with lattice simulations, obtaining that: i) the final energy transferred to X depends only on p, not on g(2); ii) the final transfer of energy is always negligible for 2 <= p < 4, and of order similar to 50% for p >= 4; iii) the system goes at late times to matter-domination for p = 2, and always to RD for p > 2. In the latter case we calculate the number of e-folds until RD, significantly reducing the uncertainty in the inflationary observables Tl-s and r. |

Abstract |
In this work, we study the thermodynamic properties on a non-commutative background via gravitational gauge field potentials. This procedure is accomplished after contracting de Sitter (dS) group, SO(4, 1), with the Poincare group, ISO(3, 1). Particularly, we focus on a static spherically symmetric black hole. In this manner, we calculate the modified Hawking temperature and the other deformed thermal state quantities, namely, entropy, heat capacity, Helmholtz free energy and pressure. Finally, we also investigate the black hole evaporation process in such a context. |

Abstract |
In this work, we calculate the one-loop self-energy corrections to the gauge field in scalar electrodynamics modified by Lorentz-violating terms within the framework of the standard model extension (SME). We focus on both CP T-even and CP T-odd contributions. The kinetic part of the scalar sector contains a CP T-even symmetric Lorentz-breaking tensor, and the interaction terms include a vector contracted with the usual covariant derivative in a gauge-invariant manner. We computed the one-loop radiative corrections using dimensional regularization for both the CP T-even and CP T-odd cases. Additionally, we employed the Matsubara formalism to account for finite temperature effects. |
