  Abstract (down) We analyze the theoretical description of radiative decays in charmonium. We use an elementary emission decay model to build the most general electromagnetic transition operator. We show that accurate results for the widths can be obtained from a simple quark potential model reasonably fitting the spectroscopy if the complete form of the operator is used instead of its standard p/m approximation and the experimental masses are properly implemented in the calculation.

  Title Strong CP problem with low-energy emergent QCD: The 4321 case Type Journal Article

  Abstract (down) We analyze the strong CP problem and the implications for axion physics in the context of U-1 vector leptoquark models, recently put forward as an elegant solution to the hints of lepton flavor universality violation in B-meson decays. It is shown that in minimal gauge models containing the U-1 as a gauge boson, the Peccei-Quinn solution of the strong CP problem requires the introduction of two axions. Characteristic predictions for the associated axions can be deduced from the model parameter space hinted by B-physics, allowing the new axion sector to account for the dark matter of the Universe. We also provide a specific ultraviolet completion of the axion sector that connects the Peccei-Quinn mechanism to the generation of neutrino masses.

  Abstract (down) We analyze the spectrum of two- and three-pion states of maximal isospin obtained recently for isosymmetric QCD with pion mass M approximate to 200 MeV in Horz and Hanlon, [Phys. Rev. Lett. 123, 142002 (2019)]. Using the relativistic three-particle quantization condition, we find similar to 2 sigma evidence for a nonzero value for the contact part of the 3 pi(+) (I = 3) scattering amplitude. We also compare our results to leading-order chiral perturbation theory. We find good agreement at threshold and some tension in the energy dependent part of the 3 pi(+) scattering amplitude. We also find that the 2 pi(+) (I = 2) spectrum is fit well by an s-wave phase shift that incorporates the expected Adler zero.

  Title Hadronic tau Decays as New Physics Probes in the LHC Era Type Journal Article

  Abstract (down) We analyze the sensitivity of hadronic tau decays to nonstandard interactions within the model-independent framework of the standard model effective field theory. Both exclusive and inclusive decays are studied, using the latest lattice data and QCD dispersion relations. We show that there are enough theoretically clean channels to disentangle all the effective couplings contributing to these decays, with the tau -> pi pi nu(tau) channel representing an unexpected powerful new physics probe. We find that the ratios of nonstandard couplings to the Fermi constant are bound at the subpercent level. These bounds are complementary to the ones from electroweak precision observables and pp -> tau nu(tau) measurements at the LHC. The combination of tau decay and LHC data puts tighter constraints on lepton universality violation in the gauge boson-lepton vertex corrections.

  Abstract (down) We analyze the problem of resolving two mutually coherent point sources with arbitrary quantum statistics, mutual phase, and relative and absolute intensity. We use a sensitivity measure based on the method of moments and compare direct imaging with spatial-mode demultiplexing (SPADE), analytically proving advantage of the latter. We show that the moment-based sensitivity of SPADE saturates the quantum Fisher information for all known cases, even for non-Gaussian states of the sources.

  Abstract (down) We analyze the possible generalized CP symmetries admitted by the Tri-Bi-Maximal (TBM) neutrino mixing. Taking advantage of these symmetries we construct in a systematic way other variants of the standard TBM Ansatz. Depending on the type and number of generalized CP symmetries imposed, we get new mixing matrices, all of which related to the original TBM matrix. One of such revamped TBM variants is the recently discussed mixing matrix of arXiv:1806.03367. We also briefly discuss the phenomenological implications following from these mixing patterns.

  Abstract (down) We analyze the phenomenological consequences of embedding a flavor symmetry based on the groups A(5) and CP in a supersymmetric framework. We concentrate on the leptonic sector, where two different residual symmetries are assumed to be conserved at leading order for charged and neutral leptons. All possible realizations to generate neutrino masses at tree level are investigated. Sizable flavor violating effects in the charged lepton sector are unavoidable due to the non-universality of soft-breaking terms determined by the symmetry. We derive testable predictions for the neutrino spectrum, lepton mixing and flavor changing processes with non-trivial relations among observables.

  Title Charge-conjugation asymmetry and molecular content: The Ds0*(2317)± in matter Type Journal Article

  Abstract (down) We analyze the modifications that a dense nuclear medium induces in the D-s0*(2317)(+/-) and D-s1(2460)(+/-). In the vacuum, we consider them as isoscalar D-(*K-) and (D) over bar (()*())(K) over bar S-wave bound states, which are dynamically generated from effective interactions that lead to different Weinberg compositeness scenarios. Matter effects are incorporated through the two-meson loop functions, taking into account the self energies that the D-(*()), (D) over bar (()*()), K, and (K) over bar develop when embedded in a nuclear medium. Although particle-antiparticle [D-s0,s1(()*())(2317,2460)(+) versus D-s0,s1(()*())(2317,2460)(-)] lineshapes are the same in vacuum, we find extremely different density patterns in matter. This charge-conjugation asymmetry mainly stems from the very different kaon and antikaon interaction with the nucleons of the dense medium. We show that the in-medium lineshapes found for these resonances strongly depend on their D-(*()), K/(D) over bar (()*()), K molecular content, and discuss how this novel feature can be used to better determine/constrain the inner structure of these exotic states.

  Title Strong decays of the lowest bottomonium hybrid within an extended Born-Oppenheimer framework Type Journal Article

  Abstract (down) We analyze the decays of the theoretically predicted lowest bottomonium hybrid H(1P) to open bottom two-meson states. We do it by embedding a quark pair creation model into the Born-Oppenheimer framework which allows for a unified, QCD-motivated description of bottomonium hybrids as well as bottomonium. A new 1P1 decay model for H(1P) comes out. The same analysis applied to bottomonium leads naturally to the well-known 3 P0 decay model. We show that H(1P) and the theoretically predicted bottomonium state Upsilon (5S), whose calculated masses are close to each other, have very different widths for such decays. A comparison with data from Upsilon (10860), an experimental resonance whose mass is similar to that of Upsilon (5S) and H(1P), is carried out. Neither a Upsilon (5S) nor a H(1P) assignment can explain the measured decay widths. However, a Upsilon (5S)-H(1P) mixing may give account of them supporting previous analyses of dipion decays of Upsilon (10860) and suggesting a possible experimental evidence of H(1P).

  Abstract (down) We analyze the D (D) over bar mass distribution from a recent Belle experiment on the e(+)e(-) -> J/.D (D) over bar reaction, and show that the mass distribution divided by phase sp(c)e does not have a clear peak above the D (D) over bar threshold that justifies the experimental claim of chi(c0)(2P) state from those data. Then we use a unitary formalismwith coupled channels D+ D-, D-0 (D) over bar (0), D-s(D) over bar (s), and eta eta, with some of the interactions taken from a theoretical model, and use the data to fix other parameters. We then show that, given the poor quality of the data, we can get different fits leading to very different D (D) over bar amplitudes, some of them supporting a D (D) over bar bound state and others not. The main conclusion is that the claim for the chi(c0)(2P) state, already included in the PDG, is premature, but refined data can provide very valuable information on the D (D) over bar scattering amplitude. As side effects, we warn about the use of a Breit-Wigner amplitude parameterization close to threshold, and show that the D-s(D) over bar (s) channel plays an important role in this reaction.
