Abstract: This paper describes a strategy for a general search used by the ATLAS Collaboration to find potential indications of new physics. Events are classified according to their final state into many event classes. For each event class an automated search algorithm tests whether the data are compatible with the Monte Carlo simulated expectation in several distributions sensitive to the effects of new physics. The significance of a deviation is quantified using pseudo-experiments. A data selection with a significant deviation defines a signal region for a dedicated follow-up analysis with an improved background expectation. The analysis of the data-derived signal regions on a new dataset allows a statistical interpretation without the large look-elsewhere effect. The sensitivity of the approach is discussed using Standard Model processes and benchmark signals of new physics. As an example, results are shown for 3.2fb-1 of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015, in which more than 700 event classes and more than 105 regions have been analysed. No significant deviations are found and consequently no data-derived signal regions for a follow-up analysis have been defined.

Abstract: Large numbers of muons will be produced at facilities developed to probe the lepton-flavor-violating process μ-> e gamma. We show that by constructing a suitable asymmetry, radiative muon decay μ-> e gamma nu(mu)(nu) over bar (e) can also be used to test the WW gamma vertex at such facilities. The process has two missing neutrinos in the final state, and upon integrating their momenta the partial differential decay rate shows no radiation-amplitude zero. However, we establish that an easily separable part of the normalized differential decay rate that is odd under the exchange of photon and electron energies does have a zero in the case of the standard model (SM). This new type of zero has hitherto not been studied in the literature. A suitably constructed asymmetry using this fact enables a sensitive probe for the WW gamma vertex beyond the SM. With a simplistic analysis, we find that the C- and P-conserving dimension-four WW gamma vertex can be probed at O(10(-2)) with a satisfactory significance level.

Abstract: We discuss the possible connection between the scale for baryon number violation and the cosmological bound on the dark matter relic density. A simple gauge theory for baryon number which predicts the existence of a leptophobic cold dark matter particle candidate is investigated. In this context, the dark matter candidate is a Dirac fermion with mass defined by the new symmetry breaking scale. Using the cosmological bounds on the dark matter relic density we find the upper bound on the symmetry breaking scale around 200 TeV. The properties of the leptophobic dark matter candidate are investigated in great detail and we show the prospects to test this theory at current and future experiments. We discuss the main implications for the mechanisms to explain the matter and antimatter asymmetry in the Universe.

Abstract: New rotational bands built on the nu(h(11/2)) configuration have been identified in Pd-105. Two bands built on this configuration show the characteristics of transverse wobbling: the Delta I = 1 transitions between them have a predominant E2 component and the wobbling energy decreases with increasing spin. The properties of the observed wobbling bands are in good agreement with theoretical results obtained using constrained triaxial covariant density functional theory and quantum particle rotor model calculations. This provides the first experimental evidence for transverse wobbling bands based on a one-neutron configuration, and also represents the first observation of wobbling motion in the A similar to 100 mass region.

Abstract: .We perform a calculation of the -M1M2, with M1,M2 either pseudoscalar or vector mesons using the basic weak interaction and angular momentum algebra to relate the different processes. The formalism also leads to a different interpretation of the role played by G-parity in these decays. We also observe that, while PPp-wave production is compatible with chiral perturbation theory and experiment, VP and VVp-wave production is clearly incompatible with experiment and we develop the formalism also in this case, producing the VP or VV pairs in s-wave. We compare our results with experiment and other theoretical approaches for rates and invariant mass distributions and make predictions for unmeasured decays. We show the value of these reactions, particularly if the M1M2 mass distribution is measured, as a tool to learn about the meson-meson interaction and the nature of some resonances, coupling to two mesons, which are produced in such decays.
