Abstract: We describe the Hybrid seeding, a stand-alone pattern recognition algorithm aiming at finding charged particle trajectories for the LHCb upgrade. A significant improvement to the charged particle reconstruction efficiency is accomplished by exploiting the knowledge of the LHCb magnetic field and the position of energy deposits in the scintillating fibre tracker detector. Moreover, we achieve a low fake rate and a small contribution to the overall timing budget of the LHCb real-time data processing.

Abstract: The fraction of chi(c1) and chi(c2) decays in the prompt J=psi yield, F-chi c -> J=psi = sigma(chi c) -> J=psi/ sigma(J/ psi) , is measured by the LHCb detector in pPb collisions at root s(NN) = 8.16 TeV. The study covers the forward (1.5 < y* < 4.0) and sNN backward (-5.0 < y* < -2.5) rapidity regions, where y* is the J=psi rapidity in the nucleon -nucleon centerof -mass system. Forward and backward rapidity samples correspond to integrated luminosities of 13.6 +/- 0.3 and 20.8 +/- 0.5 nb(-1) , respectively. The result is presented as a function of the J=psi transverse momentum pT;J/ psi in the range 1 < pT -> J/ psi < 20 GeV=c. The F-chi c -> J=psi fraction at forward rapidity is compatible with the LHCb measurement performed in pp collisions at root s= 7 TeV, whereas the result at s backward rapidity is 2.4 sigma larger than in the forward region for 1 < pT,(J/ psi) < 3 GeV/ c. The increase of F-chi c -> J/ psi at low pT;J/ psi at backward rapidity is compatible with the suppression of the psi(2S) contribution to the prompt J/ psi yield. The lack of in -medium dissociation of chi(c) states observed in this study sets an upper limit of 180 MeV on the free energy available in these pPb collisions to dissociate or inhibit charmonium state formation.

Abstract: The production of prompt D0 mesons in proton-lead collisions in both the forward and backward rapidity regions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √SNN= = 8.16 TeV is measured by the sNN LHCb experiment. The nuclear modification factor of prompt D0 mesons is determined as a function of the transverse momentum pT, and the rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass frame y*. In the forward rapidity region, significantly suppressed production with respect to pp collisions is measured, which provides significant constraints on models of nuclear parton distributions and hadron production down to the very low Bjorken-x region of similar to 10-5. In the backward rapidity region, a suppression with a significance of 2.0-3.8 standard deviations compared to parton distribution functions in a nuclear environment expectations is found in the kinematic region of pT 6 GeV/c and -3.25 < y* < -2.5, corresponding to x similar to 0.01.

Abstract: A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in D-0 -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0) decays using a pp collision data sample collected by the LHCb experiment in 2012 and from 2015 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.7 fb(-1), is presented. The initial flavor of each D-0 candidate is determined from the charge of the pion produced in the D*(2010)(+) -> D-0 pi(+) decay. The decay D-0 -> K- pi(+) pi(0) is used as a control channel to validate the measurement procedure. The gradient of the time-dependent CP asymmetry Delta Y in D-0 -> pi(+) pi(-) pi(0) decays is measured to be Delta Y = (-1.3 +/- 6.3 +/- 2.4) x 10(-4), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, which is compatible with CP conservation.

Abstract: A search for the doubly charmed baryon Omega(+)(cc) with the decay mode Omega(+)(cc) -> Xi K-+(c)-pi(+) is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1). No significant signal is observed within the invariant mass range of 3.6 to 4.0GeV/c(2). Upper limits are set on the ratio R of the production cross-section times the total branching fraction of the Omega(+)(cc) -> Xi K-+(c)-pi(+) decay with respect to the Xi(++)(cc) -> Lambda K-+(c)-pi(+)pi(+) decay. Upper limits at 95% credibility level for R in the range 0.005 to 0.11 are obtained for different hypotheses on the Omega(+)(cc) mass and lifetime in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and transverse momentum range from 4 to 15 GeV/c.

Abstract: The first search for the doubly heavy Omega(0)(bc) baryon and a search for the Xi(0)(bc) baryon are performed using collision data collected via the experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 fb(-1). The baryons are reconstructed via their decays to Lambda(+)(-)(c)(pi) and Xi(+)(c)pi(-). No significant excess is found for invariant masses between 6700 and 7300 MeV/c(2), in a rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and a transverse momentum range from 2 to 20 MeV/c. Upper limits are set on the ratio of the Omega(0)(bc) and Xi(0)(bc) production cross-section times the branching fraction to Lambda(+)(c)pi(-)(Xi(+)(c)pi(-)) relative to that of the Lambda(0)(b)(Xi(0)(b)) baryon, for different lifetime hypotheses, at 95% confidence level. The upper limits range from 0.5x10(-4) to 2.5x10(-4) for the Omega(0)(bc) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-) (Xi(0)(bc) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(-)) decay, pending on the considered mass and lifetime of the Omega(0)(bc) (Xi(0)(bc)) baryon.

Abstract: A search for the rare decays W+ -> D-s(+)gamma and Z -> D-0 gamma and is performed using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0fb(-1). No significant signal is observed for either decay mode and upper limits on their branching fractions are set using W+ -> mu(+)nu and Z ->mu(+)mu(-)decays as normalization channels. The upper limits are and at 95% confidence level for W+ -> D-s(+)gamma and Z -> D-0 gamma the and decay modes, respectively. This is the first reported search for Z -> D-0 gamma the decay, while the upper limit on the Z -> D-0 gamma branching fraction improves upon the previous best limit.

Abstract: A measurement of the ratios of the effective decay widths of D-0 -> pi(-)pi(+) and D-0 -> K- K+ decays over that of D-0 -> K-pi(+) decays is performed with the LHCb experiment using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1). These observables give access to the charm mixing parameters y(CP)(pi pi) – y(CP)(K pi )and y(CP)(KK) -y(CP)(K pi), and are measured as y(CP)(pi pi) – y(CP)(K pi) = (6.57 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.16) x 10(-3), y(CP)(KK) – y(CP)(K pi) = (7.08 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.14) x 10(-3), where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The combination of the two measurements is Y-CP – y(CP)(K pi) = (6.96 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.13) x 10(-3), which is four times more precise than the previous world average.

Abstract: The longitudinal polarization fraction of the D* meson is measured in B-0 -> D*(-) tau(+)nu(t) decays, where the tau lepton decays to three charged pions and a neutrino, using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb(-1). The D* polarization fraction F-L(D)* is measured in two q(2) regions, below and above 7 GeV2/c(4), where q(2) is defined as the squared invariant mass of the tau nu(tau) system. The F-L(D)*L values are measured to be 0.52 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.04 and 0.34 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.02 for the lower and higher q(2) regions, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The average value over the whole q(2) range is F-L(D)* = 0.41 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.03. These results are compatible with the Standard Model predictions.
