Title (up) beta-delayed gamma-ray spectroscopy of Au-203,Au-204 and Pt200-202 Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
  Volume 88 Issue 1 Pages 014319 - 12pp
  Keywords
Abstract The beta decay of five heavy, neutron-rich nuclei, Pt-203,Pt-204 and Ir200-202, has been investigated following relativistic cold fragmentation reactions of lead projectiles using the FRS + RISING setup at GSI. This paper reports on the study of the low-lying states in the decay daughter nuclei Au-203,Au-204 and Pt200-202. The characteristic gamma rays for each nucleus have been determined using beta-delayed gamma-ray spectroscopy. Tentative level schemes, relative intensities, and apparent beta feedings are provided. These data are compared with shell-model calculations, which indicate a substantial contribution to the total beta strength from high-energy first-forbidden beta-decay transitions in this mass region.

Title (up) Bianchi spaces and their three-dimensional isometries as S-expansions of two-dimensional isometries Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Journal of Physics A Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. A
  Volume 46 Issue 22 Pages 225201 - 24pp
  Keywords
Abstract In this paper we show that certain three-dimensional isometry algebras, specifically those of type I, II, III and V (according to Bianchi's classification), can be obtained as expansions of the isometries in two dimensions. In particular, we use the so-called S-expansionmethod, which makes use of the finite Abelian semigroups, because it is the most general procedure known until now. Also, it is explicitly shown why it is impossible to obtain the algebras of type IV, VI-IX as expansions from the isometry algebras in two dimensions. All the results are checked with computer programs. This procedure shows that the problem of how to relate, by an expansion, two Lie algebras of different dimensions can be entirely solved. In particular, the procedure can be generalized to higher dimensions, which could be useful for diverse physical applications, as we discuss in our conclusions.

Title (up) Bilarge neutrino mixing and Abelian flavor symmetry Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 87 Issue 5 Pages 053013 - 13pp
  Keywords
Abstract We explore two bilarge neutrino mixing Anzatze within the context of Abelian flavor symmetry theories: (BL1) sin theta(12) similar to lambda, sin theta(13) similar to lambda, sin theta(23) similar to lambda, and (BL2) sin theta(12) similar to lambda, sin theta(13) similar to lambda, sin theta(23) similar to 1 – lambda. The first pattern is proposed by two of us and is favored if the atmospheric mixing angle theta(23) lies in the first octant, while the second one is preferred for the second octant of theta(23). In order to reproduce the second texture, we find that the flavor symmetry should be U(1) x Z(m), while for the first pattern the flavor symmetry should be extended to U(1) x Z(m) x Z(n) with m and n of different parity. Explicit models for both mixing patterns are constructed based on the flavor symmetries U(1) x Z(3) x Z(4) and U(1) x Z(2). The models are extended to the quark sector within the framework of SU(5) grand unified theory in order to give a successful description of quark and lepton masses and mixing simultaneously. Phenomenological implications are discussed.

Title (up) Bilinear R-parity violation with flavor symmetry Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 033 - 16pp
Keywords Beyond Standard Model; Neutrino Physics; Supersymmetric Standard Model; Discrete and Finite Symmetries
Abstract Bilinear R-parity violation (BRPV) provides the simplest intrinsically supersymmetric neutrino mass generation scheme. While neutrino mixing parameters can be probed in high energy accelerators, they are unfortunately not predicted by the theory. Here we propose a model based on the discrete flavor symmetry Lambda(4) with a single R-parity violating parameter, leading to (i) correct Cabbibo mixing given by the Gatto-Sartori-Tonin formula, and a successful unification-like b-tau mass relation, and (ii) a correlation between the lepton mixing angles theta(13) and theta(23) in agreement with recent neutrino oscillation data, as well as a (nearly) massless neutrino, leading to absence of neutrinoless double beta decay.

Title (up) Black holes and equivariant charge vectors in N=2, d=4 supergravity Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 09 Issue 9 Pages 010 - 51pp

Abstract We extend previous investigations on the construction of extremal supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric solutions in the H-FGK formalism to unconventional solutions with anharmonic terms. We show how the use of fake charge vectors equivariant under duality transformations simplifies and clarifies the task of identification of the attractors of the theory.
