Abstract |
Results are presented of searches for the production of supersymmetric particles decaying into final states with missing transverse momentum and exactly two isolated leptons in root s = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. Search strategies requiring lepton pairs with identical-sign or opposite-sign electric charges are described. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1) collected with the ATLAS detector, no significant excesses are observed. Based on specific benchmark models, limits are placed on the squark mass between 450 and 690 GeV for squarks approximately degenerate in mass with gluinos, depending on the supersymmetric mass hierarchy considered. |

Abstract |
In combination with supersymmetry, flavor symmetry may relate quarks with leptons, even in the absence of a grand-unification group. We propose an SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1) model where both supersymmetry and the assumed A(4) flavor symmetries are softly broken, reproducing well the observed fermion mass hierarchies and predicting: (i) a relation between down-type quarks and charged lepton masses, and (ii) a correlation between the Cabibbo angle in the quark sector and the reactor angle theta(13) characterizing CP violation in neutrino oscillations. |

Abstract |
Results are presented of a search for particles decaying into final states with significant missing transverse momentum and exactly two identical flavour leptons (e, mu) of opposite charge in root s = 7 TeV collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. This channel is particularly sensitive to supersymmetric particle cascade decays producing flavour correlated lepton pairs. Flavour uncorrelated backgrounds are subtracted using a sample of opposite flavour lepton pair events. Observation of an excess beyond Standard Model expectations following this subtraction procedure would offer one of the best routes to measuring the masses of supersymmetric particles. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1) no such excess is observed. Model-independent limits are set on the contribution to these final states from supersymmetry and are used to exclude regions of a phenomenological supersymmetric parameter space. |

Abstract |
The interrelation of the quadrupole deformation and clusterization is investigated in the example of the (56)Ni nucleus. The shape isomers, including superdeformed and hyperdeformed states, are obtained as stability regions of the quasidynamical U(3) symmetry based on a Nilsson calculation. Their possible binary clusterizations are investigated by considering both the consequences of the Pauli exclusion principle and the energetic preference. |

Abstract |
We report results from the NEMO-3 experiment based on an exposure of 1275 days with 661 g of (130)Te in the form of enriched and natural tellurium foils. The beta beta decay rate of (130)Te is found to be greater than zero with a significance of 7.7 standard deviations and the half-life is measured to be T(1/2)(2v)=[7.0 +/- 0.9(stat) +/- 1: 1(syst)] x 10(20) yr. This represents the most precise measurement of this half- life yet published and the first real-time observation of this decay. |

Abstract |
A benchmark experiment on (208)Pb shows that polarized proton inelastic scattering at very forward angles including 0 degrees is a powerful tool for high-resolution studies of electric dipole (E1) and spin magnetic dipole (M1) modes in nuclei over a broad excitation energy range to test up-to-date nuclear models. The extracted E1 polarizability leads to a neutron skin thickness r(skin) = 0.156(-0.021)(+0.025) fm in (208)Pb derived within a mean-field model [Phys. Rev. C 81, 051303 (2010)], thereby constraining the symmetry energy and its density dependence relevant to the description of neutron stars. |

Abstract |
The Surface Detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory is sensitive to neutrinos of all flavors above 0.1 EeV. These interact through charged and neutral currents in the atmosphere giving rise to extensive air showers. When interacting deeply in the atmosphere at nearly horizontal incidence, neutrinos can be distinguished from regular hadronic cosmic rays by the broad time structure of their shower signals in the water-Cherenkov detectors. In this paper we present for the first time an analysis based on down-going neutrinos. We describe the search procedure, the possible sources of background, the method to compute the exposure and the associated systematic uncertainties. No candidate neutrinos have been found in data collected from 1 January 2004 to 31 May 2010. Assuming an E(-2) differential energy spectrum the limit on the single-flavor neutrino is E(2)dN/dE < 1.74 x 10(-7)GeVcm(-2)s(-1)sr(-1) at 90% C.L. in the energy range 1 x 10(17) eV < E < 1 x 10(20)eV. |

Abstract |
We analyse the deviation from universality in leptonic W decays suggested by current PDG data within a general effective field theory approach. Considering the constraints to the New Physics effects coming from Electroweak precision observables we are able to set limits on the amount of universality violation that can be accounted for in a broad class of New Physics models. Our approach starts from a usual Single Operator analysis and extends up to considering the interplay of all the effective operators defined by our EFT. |

Abstract |
A search is presented for microscopic black holes in a like-sign dimuon final state in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8 TeV. The data were collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2012 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1). Using a high track multiplicity requirement, 0.6 +/- 0.2 background events from Standard Model processes are predicted and none observed. This result is interpreted in the context of low-scale gravity models and 95% C.L. lower limits on microscopic black hole masses are set for different model assumptions. |

Abstract |
The production of (nS) mesons (n = 1; 2; 3) in p Pb and Pb p collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair p sNN = 8 : 16TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 31.8 nb. The (nS) mesons are reconstructed through their decays into two opposite-sign muons. The measurements comprise the di ff erential production cross-sections of the (1 S) and (2 S) states, their forward-to-backward ratios and nuclear modi fi cation factors. The measurements are performed as a function of the transverse momentum pT and rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass frame y of the (nS) states, in the kinematic range pT < 25 GeV/ c and 1 : 5 < y < 4 : 0 (5 : 0 < y < 2 : 5) for p Pb (Pb p) collisions. In addition, production cross-sections for (3 S) are measured integrated over phase space and the production ratios between all three (nS) states are determined. Suppression for bottomonium in proton-lead collisions is observed, which is particularly visible in the ratios. The results are compared to theoretical models. |
