Title The GALILEO gamma-ray array at the Legnaro National Laboratories Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research A Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Instrum. Methods Phys. Res. A
  Volume 1015 Issue Pages 165753 - 15pp
Keywords High-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy; HPGe; Silicon; Neutron; Electronics; DAQ
Abstract GALILEO, a new 4 pi high-resolution gamma-detection array, based on HPGe detectors, has been developed and installed at the Legnaro National Laboratories. The GALILEO array greatly benefits from a fully-digital readout chain, customized DAQ, and a variety of complementary detectors to improve the resolving power by the detection of particles, ions or high-energy gamma-ray transitions. In this work, a full description of the array, including electronics and DAQ, is presented together with its complementary instrumentation.

Title Counting rate measurements for lifetime experiments using the RDDS method with the new generation gamma-ray array AGATA Type Journal Article
Year 2014 Publication Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research A Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Instrum. Methods Phys. Res. A
  Volume 758 Issue Pages 1-3
Keywords Lifetime measurement; gamma spectroscopy; Counting rate
Abstract The differential Recoil Distance Doppler Shift (RDDS) method after multinucleon transfer (MNT) reactions to measure lifetimes of excited states in neutron-rich nuclei requires the use of a thick energy degrader for the recoiling ejectiles that are then detected in a spectrometer. This type of measurements greatly benefits from the use of the new generation segmented gamma-ray detectors, such as the AGATA demonstrator which offers unprecedented energy and angular resolutions. In order to make an optimized choice of the material and the thickness of the degrader for lifetime measurements using the RODS method after MNT, an experiment has been performed with the AGATA demonstrator. Counting rate measurements for different degraders are presented.

Title Simulation of the AGATA spectrometer and coupling with ancillary detectors Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
  Volume 59 Issue 7 Pages 158 - 12pp
  Keywords
Abstract The design study of the AGATA array began with the development of the AGATA simulation code using GEANT4. The latter played a key part in the final design of the array and provided a cost effective solution for the early development of the tracking algorithm. The code has since been maintained and developed by the collaboration to provide more realistic simulations, with reaction chambers, ancillary detectors and surrounding mechanical structures completing the entire setup.

Title Study of the cross section determination with the PRISMA spectrometer: The Ar-40+Pb-208 case Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication European Physical Journal A Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. A
  Volume 52 Issue 4 Pages 113 - 6pp
  Keywords
Abstract The PRISMA spectrometer's response function was successfully applied to match three angular and magnetic settings over a wide angular range for measurements of quasi-elastic reactions in Ar-40 + Pb-208 . The absolute scale of cross sections has been obtained by using the Rutherford cross section at the forward angles and the information from the energy distributions measured with the spectrometer without and with coincidences with the CLARA -array. The semi-classical model GRAZING has been used to test the unfolding procedure and for comparison with the corrected cross sections.

Title Pairing Correlation Study in the 40Ar + 208Pb Multinucleon Transfer Reaction Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Acta Physica Polonica B Abbreviated Journal Acta Phys. Pol. B
  Volume 46 Issue 3 Pages 439-442
  Keywords
Abstract The Ar-40 + Pb-208 multinucleon transfer reaction has been studied at E-lab = 255 MeV with the large solid angle magnetic spectrometer PRISMA. Mass and charge yields, differential and total cross sections, total kinetic energy loss distributions of different channels were simultaneously measured. Angular distributions were measured in a wide angular range by matching different spectrometer angular settings. Absolute cross sections were obtained by careful evaluation of the spectrometer response function. These cross sections for different transfer channels allow the discussion of the role played by nucleon-nucleon correlations.
