Title New narrow resonances observed in the unbound nucleus F-15 Type Journal Article

Abstract The structure of the unbound F-15 nucleus is investigated using the inverse kinematics resonant scattering of a radioactive O-14 beam impinging on a CH2 target. The analysis of H-1(O-14, p) O-14 and H-1(O-14, 2p) N-13 reactions allowed the confirmation of the previously observed narrow 1/2(-) resonance, near the two-proton decay threshold, and the identification of two new narrow 5/2(-) and 3/2(-) resonances. The newly observed levels decay by 1p emission to the ground of O-14, and by sequential 2p emission to the ground state of N-13 via the 1(-) resonance of O-14. Gamow shell model (GSM) analysis of the experimental data suggests that the wave functions of the 5/2(-) and 3/2(-) resonances may be collectivized by the continuum coupling to nearby 2p- and 1p-decay channels. The observed excitation function H-1(O-14, p) O-14 and resonance spectrum in F-15 are well reproduced in the unified framework of the GSM.

Title New tests of dark sector interactions from the full-shape galaxy power spectrum Type Journal Article

Abstract We explore the role of redshift-space galaxy clustering data in constraining nongravitational interactions between dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM), for which state-of-the-art limits have so far been obtained from late-time background measurements. We use the joint likelihood for prereconstruction full-shape (FS) galaxy power spectrum and postreconstruction Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) measurements from the BOSS DR12 sample, alongside Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) data from Planck: from this dataset combination we infer H0 1/4 68.02+0.49 and the 2?? lower limit ?? > ???0.12, among the strongest limits ever reported on the DM-DE coupling strength ?? for the particular model considered. Contrary to what has been observed for the ??CDM model and simple extensions thereof, we find that the CMB + FS combination returns tighter constraints compared to the CMB + BAO one, suggesting that there is valuable additional information contained in the broadband of the power spectrum. We test this finding by running additional CMB-free analyses and removing sound horizon information, and discuss the important role of the equality scale in setting constraints on DM-DE interactions. Our results reinforce the critical role played by redshift-space galaxy clustering measurements in the epoch of precision cosmology, particularly in relation to tests of nonminimal dark sector extensions of the ??CDM model.

Title Measurements of azimuthal anisotropies of jet production in Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-s=5.02 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article

Abstract The azimuthal variation of jet yields in heavy-ion collisions provides information about the path-length dependence of the energy loss experienced by partons passing through the hot, dense nuclear matter known as the quark-gluon plasma. This paper presents the azimuthal anisotropy coefficients v(2), v(3), and v(4) measured for jets in Pb + Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-s =5.02 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurement uses data collected in 2015 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 nb(-1). The v(n) values are measured as a function of the transverse momentum of the jets between 71 and 398 GeV and the event centrality. A nonzero value of v(2) is observed in all but the most central collisions. The value of v(2) is largest for jets with lower transverse momentum, with values up to 0.05 in mid-central collisions. A smaller, nonzero value of v(3) of approximately 0.01 is measured with no significant dependence on jet p(T) or centrality, suggesting that fluctuations in the initial state play a small but distinct role in jet energy loss. No significant deviation of v(4) from zero is observed in the measured kinematic region.

Title Search for single production of a vectorlike T quark decaying into a Higgs boson and top quark with fully hadronic final states using the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article

Abstract A search is made for a vectorlike T quark decaying into a Higgs boson and a top quark in 13 TeV protonproton collisions using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb???1. The Higgs-boson and top-quark candidates are identified in the all-hadronic decay mode, where H – bb ?? and t – bW – bqq??0 are reconstructed as large-radius jets. The candidate Higgs boson, top quark, and associated B hadrons are identified using tagging algorithms. No significant excess is observed above the background, so limits are set on the production cross section of a singlet T quark at 95% confidence level, depending on the mass mT and coupling ??T of the vectorlike T quark to Standard Model particles. In the considered mass range between 1.0 and 2.3 TeV, the upper limit on the allowed coupling values increases with mT from a minimum value of 0.35 for 1.07 < mT < 1.4 TeV to 1.6 for mT 1/4 2.3 TeV.

Title Measurement of the charm mixing parameter y(CP)-y(CP)(K pi) using two-body D-0 meson decays Type Journal Article
Year (up) 2022 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 105 Issue 9 Pages 092013 - 17pp

Abstract A measurement of the ratios of the effective decay widths of D-0 -> pi(-)pi(+) and D-0 -> K- K+ decays over that of D-0 -> K-pi(+) decays is performed with the LHCb experiment using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1). These observables give access to the charm mixing parameters y(CP)(pi pi) – y(CP)(K pi )and y(CP)(KK) -y(CP)(K pi), and are measured as y(CP)(pi pi) – y(CP)(K pi) = (6.57 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.16) x 10(-3), y(CP)(KK) – y(CP)(K pi) = (7.08 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.14) x 10(-3), where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The combination of the two measurements is Y-CP – y(CP)(K pi) = (6.96 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.13) x 10(-3), which is four times more precise than the previous world average.
