Abstract: We present the results of a search for a very light CP-odd Higgs boson a(1)(0) originating from top quark decays t -> H(+/-)b -> W(+/-(*)) a(1)(0)b, and subsequently decaying into tau(+)tau(-). Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb(-1) collected by the CDF II detector in p (p) over bar collisions at 1.96 TeV, we perform a search for events containing a lepton, three or more jets, and an additional isolated track with transverse momentum in the range 3 to 20 GeV/c. Observed events are consistent with background sources, and 95% C.L. limits are set on the branching ratio of t -> H(+/-)b for various masses of H(+/-) and a(1)(0).

Abstract: This Letter presents a measurement of the W(+)W(-) production cross section in root s = 7 TeV pp collisions by the ATLAS experiment, using 34 pb(-1) of integrated luminosity produced by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Selecting events with two isolated leptons, each either an electron or a muon, 8 candidate events are observed with an expected background of 1.7 +/- 0.6 events. The measured cross section is 41(-16)(+20)(stat) +/- 5(syst) +/- 1(lumi) pb, which is consistent with the standard model prediction of 44 +/- 3 pb calculated at next-to-leading order in QCD.

Abstract: The T2K experiment observes indications of nu(mu) -> nu(mu) e appearance in data accumulated with 1.43 x 10(20) protons on target. Six events pass all selection criteria at the far detector. In a three-flavor neutrino oscillation scenario with |Delta m(23)(2)| = 2.4 x 10(-3) eV(2), sin(2)2 theta(23) = 1 and sin(2)2 theta(13) = 0, the expected number of such events is 1.5 +/- 0.3(syst). Under this hypothesis, the probability to observe six or more candidate events is 7 x 10(-3), equivalent to 2.5 sigma significance. At 90% C.L., the data are consistent with 0.03(0.04) < sin(2)2 theta(13) < 0.28(0.34) for delta(CP) = 0 and a normal (inverted) hierarchy.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the baryonic flavor-changing neutral current decay Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+)mu(-) with 24 signal events and a statistical significance of 5.8 Gaussian standard deviations. This measurement uses a p (p) over bar collisions data sample corresponding to 6.8 fb(-1) at root s = 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. The total and differential branching ratios for Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+)mu(-) are measured. We find B(Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+)mu(-)) = [1.73 +/- 0.42(stat) +/- (syst)] x 10(-6). We also report the first measurement of the differential branching ratio of B(s)(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-), using 49 signal events. In addition, we report branching ratios for B(+) -> K(+)mu(+)mu(-), B(0) -> K(0)mu(+)mu(-), and B -> K*(892)mu(+)mu(-) decays.

Abstract: The rate of neutrino-electron elastic scattering interactions from 862 keV (7)Be solar neutrinos in Borexino is determined to be 46.0 +/- 1.5(stat)(-1.6)(+1.5)(syst)counts/(day . 100 ton). This corresponds to a nu(e)-equivalent (7)Be solar neutrino flux of (3.10 +/- 0.15) x 10(9) cm(-2) s(-1) and, under the assumption of nu(e) transition to other active neutrino flavours, yields an electron neutrino survival probability of 0.51 +/- 0.07 at 862 keV. The no flavor change hypothesis is ruled out at 5.0 sigma. A global solar neutrino analysis with free fluxes determines Phi(pp) = 6.06(-0.66)(+0.02) x 10(10) cm(-2) s(-1) and Phi(CNO) < 1.3 x 10(9) cm(-2) s(-1) (95% C.L.). These results significantly improve the precision with which the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein large mixing angle neutrino oscillation model is experimentally tested at low energy.

Abstract: A search for a heavy standard model Higgs boson decaying via H -> ZZ -> l(+)l(-)v (v) over bar, where l = e, mu, is presented. It is based on proton-proton collision data at root s = 7 TeV, collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in the first half of 2011 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.04 fb(-1). The data are compared to the expected standard model backgrounds. The data and the background expectations are found to be in agreement and upper limits are placed on the Higgs boson production cross section over the entire mass window considered; in particular, the production of a standard model Higgs boson is excluded in the region 340 < m(H) < 450 GeV at the 95% confidence level.

Abstract: We search for hadronic decays of a light Higgs boson (A(0)) produced in radiative decays of an Gamma(2S) or Gamma(3S) meson, Gamma -> gamma A(0). The data have been recorded by the BABAR experiment at the Gamma(3S) and Gamma(2S) center-of-mass energies and include (121.3 +/- 1.2) x 10(6) Gamma(3S) and (98.3 +/- 0.9) x 10(6) Gamma(2S) mesons. No significant signal is observed. We set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product branching fractions B(Gamma(nS) -> gamma A(0))B(A(0) -> hadrons) (n = 2 or 3) that range from 1 x 10(-6) for an A(0) mass of 0: 3 GeV/c(2) to 8 x 10(-5) at 7 GeV/c(2).

Abstract: A search for a Higgs boson has been performed in the H -> WW -> l nu jj channel in 1.04 fb(-1) of pp collision data at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events is observed over the expected background and limits on the Higgs boson production cross section are derived for a Higgs boson mass in the range 240 GeV < m(H) < 600 GeV. The best sensitivity is reached for m(H) = 400 GeV, where the 95% confidence level upper bound on the cross section for H -> WW production is 3.1 pb, or 2.7 times the standard model prediction.

Abstract: We present the results of a search for pair production of a heavy toplike (t') quark decaying to Wq final states using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb(-1) collected by the CDF II detector in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV. We perform parallel searches for t' -> Wb and t' -> Wq (where q is a generic down-type quark) in events containing a lepton and four or more jets. By performing a fit to the two-dimensional distribution of total transverse energy versus reconstructed t' quark mass, we set upper limits on the t'(t) over bar' production cross section and exclude a standard model fourth-generation t' quark decaying to Wb (Wq) with mass below 358 (340) GeV/c(2) at 95% C. L.

Abstract: The ARCADE 2 Collaboration has recently measured an isotropic radio emission which is significantly brighter than the expected contributions from known extra-galactic sources. The simplest explanation of such excess involves a "new'' population of unresolved sources which become the most numerous at very low (observationally unreached) brightness. We investigate this scenario in terms of synchrotron radiation induced by weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) annihilations or decays in extra-galactic halos. Intriguingly, for light-mass WIMPs with a thermal annihilation cross section, the level of expected radio emission matches the ARCADE observations.
