Abstract The decay B- -> Lambda(+)(c)(Lambda) over bar K--(c)- is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment. In the Lambda K-+(c)- system, the Xi(c)(2930)(0) state observed at the BABAR and Belle experiments is resolved into two narrower states, Xi(c)(2923)(0) and Xi(c)(2939)(0), whose masses and widths are measured to be m(Xi(c)(2930)(0) = 2924.5 +/- 0.4 +/- 1.1 Mev, m Xi(c)(2930)(0)) = 2938.5 +/- 0.9 +/- 2.3 Mev, Gamma(Xi(c)(2930)(0)) = 4.8 +/- 0.9 +/- 1.5 MeV, Gamma(Xi(c)(2930)(0) – 11.0 +/- 1.9 +/- 7.5 MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with a previous LHCb measurement using a prompt Lambda K-+(c)- sample. Evidence of a new Xi(c)(2930)(0) state is found with a local significance of 3.8 sigma, whose mass and width are measured to be 2881.8 +/- 3.1 +/- 8.5 MeV and 12.4 +/- 5.3 +/- 5.8 MeV, respectively. In addition, evidence of a new decay mode Xi(c)(2930)(0) -> Lambda K-+(c) is found with a significance of 3.7 sigma. The relative branching fraction of B- -> Lambda(+)(c)(Lambda) over bar K--(c)- with respect to the B- -> D+D-K- decay is measured to be 2.36 +/- 0.11 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.25, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third originates from the branching fractions of charm hadron decays.

Title Search for the rare hadronic decay Bs0 → p(p)over-bar Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume (up) 108 Issue 1 Pages 012007 - 12pp
Keywords
Abstract A search for the rare hadronic decay B-s(0) -> p (p) over bar is performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1). No evidence of the decay is found and an upper limit on its branching fraction is set at B(B-s(0) -> p (p) over bar) < 4.4(5.1)x 10(-9) at 90% (95%) confidence level; this is currently the world's best upper limit. The decay mode B-0 -> p<(p)over bar> is measured with very large significance, confirming the first observation by the LHCb experiment in 2017. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B-0 -> p (p) over bar) = (1.27 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.04) 10(-8), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the external branching fraction of the normalization channel B-0 -> K+pi(-). The combination of the two LHCb measurements of the B-0 -> p (p) over bar branching fraction yields B(B-0 -> p (p) over bar) (1.27 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.03) x 10(-8).

Title Direct CP violation in charmless three-body decays of B± mesons Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume (up) 108 Issue 1 Pages 012008 - 17pp
Keywords
Abstract Measurements of CP asymmetries in charmless three-body decays of B-+/- mesons are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb(-1). The previously observed CP asymmetry in B-+/- -> pi(K+K-)-K-+/- decays is confirmed, and CP asymmetries are observed with a significance of more than five standard deviations in the B-+/- -> pi(+/-)pi(+)pi and B-+/- -> (KK+K-)-K-+/- decays, while the CP asymmetry of B-+/- -> K-+/-pi(+)pi(-) decays is confirmed to be compatible with zero. The distributions of these asymmetries are also studied as a function of the three-body phase space and suggest contributions from rescattering and resonance interference processes. An indication of the presence of the decays B+ -> pi(+) chi(c0) (1P) in both B+ ->pi(+)pi(+)pi and B+ ->pi+K+K- decays is observed, as is CP violation involving these amplitudes.

Title Search for direct CP violation in charged charmless B → PV decays Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume (up) 108 Issue 1 Pages 012013 - 13pp
Keywords
Abstract Measurements of CP asymmetry in charmless B -> PV decays are presented, where P and V denote a pseudoscalar and a vector meson, respectively. Five different B -> PV decays from four final states, B-+/- -> pi(+/-)pi(+) pi(-), B-+/- -> K-+/-pi(+) pi(-), B-+/-->(KK+K-)-K-+/- and B-+/- -> pi(K+K-)-K-+/- are analyzed. The measurements are based on a method that does not require full amplitude analyses, and are performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by LHCb between 2015 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb(-1). In the pi(+) pi(-) P-wave, in the region dominated by the B-+/- -> rho(770)K-0(+/-) decay, a CP asymmetry of A(CP) = +0.150 +/- 0.019 +/- 0.011 is measured, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first observation of CP violation in this process. For the other four decay channels, in regions dominated by the B-+/- -> rho(770)(0)pi(+/-), B-+/- -> K(-)*(892)(0) pi(+/-), B-+/- -> K(-)* (892)K-+/- and B-+/- -> (sic)(1020) K-+/- decays, CP asymmetries in the P-wave compatible with zero are measured.

Title Test of lepton flavor universality using B0→D*−τ+ντ decays with hadronic τ channels Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume (up) 108 Issue Pages 012018 - 18pp

Abstract The branching fraction B(B0→D*−τ+ντ) is measured relative to that of the normalization mode B0→D*−π+π−π+ using hadronic τ+→π+π−π+(π0)¯ντ decays in proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2  fb−1. The measured ratio is B(B0→D*−τ+ντ)/B(B0→D*−π+π−π+)=1.70±0.10+0.11−0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is related to systematic effects. Using established branching fractions for the B0→D*−π+π−π+ and B0→D*−μ+νμ modes, the lepton universality test R(D*−)≡B(B0→D*−τ+ντ)/B(B0→D*−μ+νμ) is calculated, R(D*−)=0.247±0.015±0.015±0.012, where the third uncertainty is due to the uncertainties on the external branching fractions. This result is consistent with the Standard Model prediction and with previous measurements.

Title First observation of the B+→D+sD−sK+ decay Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume (up) 108 Issue Pages 034012 - 14pp
Keywords
Abstract The B+→D+sD−sK+ decay is observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb−1. Its branching fraction relative to that of the B+→D+D−K+ decay is measured to be B(B+→D+sD−sK+)B(B+→D+D−K+)=0.525±0.033±0.027±0.034, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the D±s→K∓K±π± and D±→K∓π±π± decays. This measurement fills an experimental gap in the knowledge of the family of Cabibbo-favored ¯b→¯cc¯s transitions and opens the path for unique studies of spectroscopy in future.

Title Measurement of Ξc+ production in pPb collisions at √sNN=8.16 TeV at LHCb Type Journal Article
Year 2024 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
Volume (up) 109 Issue 4 Pages 044901 - 14pp

Abstract A study of prompt Xi(+)(c) production in proton-lead collisions is performed with the LHCb experiment at a centerof-mass energy per nucleon pair of 8.16 TeV in 2016 in pPb and Pbp collisions with an estimated integrated luminosity of approximately 12.5 and 17.4 nb(-1), respectively. The Xi(+)(c) roduction cross section, as well as the Xi(+)(c) to Lambda(+)(c) production cross-section ratio, are measured as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity and compared to the latest theory predictions. The forward-backward asymmetry is also measured as a function of the Xi(+)(c) ransverse momentum. The results provide strong constraints on theoretical calculation and are a unique input for hadronization studies in different collision systems.

Title Evidence for Exotic Hadron Contributions to Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi p pi(-) Decays Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
Volume (up) 117 Issue 8 Pages 082003 - 10pp
Keywords
Abstract A full amplitude analysis of Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi pi(-) decays is performed with a data sample acquired with the LHCb detector from 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). A significantly better description of the data is achieved when, in addition to the previously observed nucleon excitations N -> p pi(-), either the P-c(43800)(+) and P-c(4450)(+) -> J/psi p states, previously observed in Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi pK(-) decays, or the Z(c)(4200)(-) -> J/psi pi(-) state, previously reported in B-0 -> J/psi K+pi(-) decays, or all three, are included in the amplitude models. The data support a model containing all three exotic states, with a significance of more than three standard deviations. Within uncertainties, the data are consistent with the P-c(4380)(+) and P-c(4 450)(+) production rates expected from their previous observation taking account of Cabibbo suppression.
