Abstract: Differential cross sections for the production of at least four jets have been measured in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider using the ATLAS detector. Events are selected if the four anti-k(t) R = 0.4 jets with the largest transverse momentum (p(T)) within the rapidity range vertical bar y vertical bar < 2 : 8 are well separated (Delta R-4j(min) > 0.65), all have p(T) > 64 GeV, and include at least one jet with p(T) > 100 GeV. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1). The cross sections, corrected for detector effects, are compared to leading-order and next-to-leading-order calculations as a function of the jet momenta, invariant masses, minimum and maximum opening angles and other kinematic variables.

Abstract: A combination of measurements sensitive to the CKM angle gamma from LHCb is performed. The inputs are from analyses of time-integrated B+ -> DK+, B-0 -> DK*(0), B-0 -> DK+ pi(-) and B+ -> DK+ pi(+) pi(-) tree-level decays. In addition, results from a time-dependent analysis of B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ decays are included. The combination yields = (72: 2(-7.3)(+6:8) 7 : 3)degrees, where the uncertainty includes systematic effects. The 95.5% confidence level interval is determined to be gamma is an element of [55.9, 85.2]degrees. A second combination is investigated, also including measurements from B+ -> DK+, B-0 -> DK*(0), B-0 -> DK+ pi(-) and B+ -> DK+ pi(+) pi decays, which yields compatible results.

Abstract: The decay rate of neutrinoless double beta (0 nu beta beta) decay could be dominated by Lepton Number Violating (LNV) short-range diagrams involving only heavy scalar intermediate particles, known as “topology-II” diagrams. Examples are diagrams with diquarks, leptoquarks or charged scalars. Here, we compare the LNV discovery potentials of the LHC and 0 nu beta beta-decay experiments, resorting to three example models, which cover the range of the optimistic-pessimistic cases for 0 nu beta beta decay. We use the LHC constraints from dijet as well as leptoquark searches and find that already with 20/fb the LHC will test interesting parts of the parameter space of these models, not excluded by the current limits on 0 nu beta beta-decay.

Abstract: We investigate a gauge extension of the Standard Model in light of the observed hints of lepton universality violation in b -> clv and b -> sl(+) l(-) decays at BaBar, Belle and LHCb. The model consists of an extended gauge group SU(2)(1) x SU(2)(2) x U(l)(Y) which breaks spontaneously around the TeV scale to the electroweak gauge group. Fermion mixing effects with vector -like fermions give rise to potentially large new physics contributions in flavour transitions mediated by WI and Z' bosons. This model can ease tensions in B -physics data while satisfying stringent bounds from flavour physics, and electroweak precision data. Possible ways to test the proposed new physics scenario with upcoming experimental measurements are discussed. Among other predictions, the ratios RM =Gamma(B -> M mu(+)mu(-))/Gamma(B -> Me(+)e(-)), with M = K*, phi, are found to be reduced with respect to the Standard Model expectation R-M similar or equal to 1.

Abstract: Measurements of the differential branching fraction and angular moments of the decay B-0 -> K+pi(-)mu(+)mu(-) in the K+pi(-) invariant mass range 1330 <m(K+pi(-)) < 1530 MeV/c(2) are presented. Proton-proton collision data are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment. Differential branching fraction measurements are reported in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, q(2), between 0.1 and 8.0 GeV2/c(4). For the first time, an angular analysis sensitive to the S-, P- and D-wave contributions of this rare decay is performed. The set of 40 normalised angular moments describing the decay is presented for the q(2) range 1.1-6.0 GeV2/c(4).
