Abstract: We make a theoretical study of the charge and forward-backward pion asymmetries in the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) gamma process on and off the phi resonance energy. These observables are rather sensitive to the inner details of the theoretical models to describe the reaction. In addition to the standard implementation of the initial state radiation and the bremsstrahlung contribution to the final state radiation, we use the techniques of the chiral unitary approach to evaluate the contribution from the mechanisms of phi decay into pi(+) pi(-) gamma. This contribution involves the implementation of final state interaction from direct chiral loops, the exchange of vector and axial-vector resonances and the final state interaction through the consideration of the meson-meson unitarized amplitudes, which were found important in a previous work describing the phi -> pi pi gamma. We find a good reproduction of the experimental data from KLOE for the forward-backward asymmetry, both at the phi peak and away from it. We also make predictions for the angular distributions of the charge asymmetry and show that this observable is very sensitive to the chiral loops involved in phi radiative decay.

Abstract: We evaluate the a(1)(1260) -> pi sigma(f(0)(500)) decay width from the perspective that the a(1)(1260) resonance is dynamically generated from the pseudoscalar-vector interaction and the sigma arises from the pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar interaction. A triangle mechanism with a(1)(1260) -> p pi followed by rho -> pi pi and a fusion of two pions within the loop to produce the sigma provides the mechanism for this decay under these assumptions for the nature of the two resonances. We obtain widths of the order of 13-22 MeV. Present experimental results differ substantially from each other, suggesting that extra efforts should be devoted to the precise extraction of this important partial decay width, which should provide valuable information on the nature of the axial vector and scalar meson resonances and help clarify the role of the ps channel in recent lattice QCD calculations of the a(1).

Abstract: We study the D+ -> pi(+) eta eta and D+ -> pi(+)pi(0) eta reactions, which are single Cabibbo suppressed and can proceed both through internal and external emission. The primary mechanisms at quark level are considered, followed by hadronization to produce three mesons in the D+ decay, and after that the final state interaction of these mesons leads to the production of the a(0)(980) resonance, seen in the pi(+)eta, pi(0)eta mass distributions. The theory has three unknown parameters to determine the shape of the distributions and the ratio between the D+ -> pi(+) eta eta and D+ -> pi(+)pi(0) eta rates. This ratio restricts much the sets of parameters but there is still much freedom leading to different shapes in the mass distributions. We call for a measurement of these mass distributions that will settle the reaction mechanism, while at the same time provide relevant information on the way that the a(0)(980) resonance is produced in the reactions.

Abstract: We show that the K-2*(1430), K-3*(1780), K-4*(2045), K-5*(2380), and a not-yet-discovered K-6* resonance are basically molecules made of an increasing number of rho(770) and one K*(892) mesons. The idea relies on the fact that the vector-vector interaction in the s wave with spins aligned is very strong for both rho rho and K*rho. We extend a recent work, where several resonances showed up as multi-rho(770) molecules, to the strange sector including the K*(892) into the system. The resonant structures show up in the multibody scattering amplitudes, which are evaluated in terms of the unitary two-body vector-vector scattering amplitudes by using the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations.

Abstract: We study the properties of (K) over bar* mesons in nuclear matter using a unitary approach in coupled channels within the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism and incorporating the (K) over bar pi decay channel in matter. The in-medium (K) over bar *N interaction accounts for Pauli blocking effects and incorporates the (K) over bar* self-energy in a self-consistent manner. We also obtain the (K) over bar* (off-shell) spectral function and analyze its behavior at finite density and momentum. At a normal nuclear matter density, the (K) over bar* meson feels a moderately attractive potential, while the (K) over bar* width becomes five times larger than in free space. We estimate the transparency ratio of the gamma A -> K+K*(-) A` reaction, which we propose as a feasible scenario at the present facilities to detect changes in the properties of the (K) over bar* meson in nuclear medium.
