Abstract |
A simple Discrete-Time Quantum Walk (DTQW) on the line is revisited and given an hydrodynamic interpretation through a novel relativistic generalization of the Madelung transform. Numerical results show that suitable initial conditions indeed produce hydrodynamical shocks and that the coherence achieved in current experiments is robust enough to simulate quantum hydrodynamical phenomena through DTQWs. An analytical computation of the asymptotic quantum shock structure is presented. The non-relativistic limit is explored in the Supplementary Material (SM). |

Abstract |
A discrete-time Quantum Walk (QW) is an operator driving the evolution of a single particle on the lattice, through local unitaries. In a previous paper, we showed that QWs over the honeycomb and triangular lattices can be used to simulate the Dirac equation. We apply a spacetime coordinate transformation upon the lattice of this QW, and show that it is equivalent to introducing spacetime-dependent local unitaries-whilst keeping the lattice fixed. By exploiting this duality between changes in geometry, and changes in local unitaries, we show that the spacetime-dependent QW simulates the Dirac equation in (2 + 1)-dimensional curved spacetime. Interestingly, the duality crucially relies on the non linear-independence of the three preferred directions of the honeycomb and triangular lattices: The same construction would fail for the square lattice. At the practical level, this result opens the possibility to simulate field theories on curved manifolds, via the quantum walk on different kinds of lattices. |

Abstract |
We investigate the possibility of viable leptogenesis in an appealing Delta(27) model with a universal texture zero in the (1,1) entry. The model accommodates the mass spectrum, mixing and CP phases for both quarks and leptons and allows for grand unification. Flavoured Boltzmann equations for the lepton asymmetries are solved numerically, taking into account both N-1 and N-2 right-handed neutrino decays. The N-1-dominated scenario is successful and the most natural option for the model, with M-1 is an element of [10(9), 10(12)] GeV, and M-1/M-2 is an element of [0.002, 0.1], which constrains the parameter space of the underlying model and yields lower bounds on the respective Yukawa couplings. Viable leptogenesis is also possible in the N-2-dominated scenario, with the asymmetry in the electron flavour protected from N-1 washout by the texture zero. However, this occurs in a region of parameter space which has a stronger mass hierarchy M-1/M-2< 0.002, and M-2 relatively close to M-3, which is not a natural expectation of the Delta(27) model. |

Abstract |
We show that for a relatively light majoron (<< 100 eV) non-thermal production from topological defects is an efficient production mechanism. Taking the type I seesaw as benchmark scheme, we estimate the primordial majoron abundance and determine the required parameter choices where it can account for the observed cosmological dark matter. The latter is consistent with the scale of unification. Possible direct detection of light majorons with future experiments such as PTOLEMY and the formation of boson stars from the majoron dark matter are also discussed. |

Abstract |
Using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector and corresponding to 1.0, 2.0 and 1.9 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity at the centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, respectively, the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> chi(c1)(3872)pK(-) with chi(c1)(3872) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) is observed for the first time. The significance of the observed signal is in excess of seven standard deviations. It is found that (58 +/- 15)% of the decays proceed via the two-body intermediate state chi(c1)(3872)Lambda(1520). The branching fraction with respect to that of the Lambda(0)(b) -> psi(2S)pK(-) decay mode, where the psi(2S) meson is reconstructed in the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) final state, is measured to be: B(Lambda(0)(b) -> chi(c1)(3872)pK(-))/B (Lambda(0)(b) -> psi(2S)pK(-)) x B(chi(c1)(3872) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-))/B(psi(2S) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = (5.4 +/- 1.1 +/- 0.2) x 10(-2), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. |

Abstract |
We perform a general model-independent analysis of b -> c tau(nu) over bar (tau) transitions, including measurements of R-D, R-D*, their q(2) differential distributions, the recently measured longitudinal D* polarization F-L(D)*, and constraints from the B-c -> tau(nu) over bar (tau) lifetime, each of which has significant impact on the fit. A global fit to a general set of Wilson coefficients of an effective low-energy Hamiltonian is presented, the solutions of which are interpreted in terms of hypothetical new-physics mediators. From the obtained results we predict selected b -> c tau(nu) over bar (tau) observables, such as the baryonic transition Lambda(b) -> Lambda(c)tau(nu) over bar (tau), the ratio R-J/psi, the forward-backward asymmetries A(FB)(D()*()), the tau polarization asymmetries P-tau(D()*()), and the longitudinal D* polarization fraction F-L(D)*. The latter shows presently a slight tension with any new-physics model, such that an improved measurement could have an important impact. We also discuss the potential change due the very recently announced preliminary R-D(*) measurement by the Belle collaboration. |

Abstract |
Narrow resonances decaying into WW, WZ or ZZ boson pairs are searched for in 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider from 2015 to 2018. The diboson system is reconstructed using pairs of high transverse momentum, large-radius jets. These jets are built from a combination of calorimeter- and tracker-inputs compatible with the hadronic decay of a boosted W or Z boson, using jet mass and substructure properties. The search is performed for diboson resonances with masses greater than 1.3 TeV. No significant deviations from the background expectations are observed. Exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level are set on the production cross-section times branching ratio into dibosons for resonances in a range of theories beyond the Standard Model, with the highest excluded mass of a new gauge boson at 3.8 TeV in the context of mass-degenerate resonances that couple predominantly to gauge bosons. |

Abstract |
The presence of new neutrino-quark interactions can enhance, deplete or distort the coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) event rate. The new interactions may involve CP violating phases that can potentially affect these features. Assuming light vector mediators, we study the effects of CP violation on the CEvNS process in the COHERENT sodium-iodine, liquid argon and germanium detectors. We identify a region in parameter space for which the event rate always involves a dip and another one for which this is never the case. We show that the presence of a dip in the event rate spectrum can be used to constraint CP violating effects, in such a way that the larger the detector volume the tighter the constraints. Furthermore, it allows the reconstruction of the effective coupling responsible for the signal with an uncertainty determined by recoil energy resolution. In the region where no dip is present, we find that CP violating parameters can mimic the Standard Model CEvNS prediction or spectra induced by real parameters. We point out that the interpretation of CEvNS data in terms of a light vector mediator should take into account possible CP violating effects. Finally, we stress that our results are qualitatively applicable for CEvNS induced by solar or reactor neutrinos. Thus, the CP violating effects discussed here and their consequences should be taken into account as well in the analysis of data from multi-ton dark matter detectors or experiments such as CONUS, nu-cleus or CONNIE. |

Abstract |
We consider a left-right symmetric extension of the Standard Model where the spontaneous breakdown of the left-right symmetry is triggered by doublets. The electroweak rho parameter is protected from large corrections in this Doublet Left-Right Model (DLRM), contrary to the triplet case. This allows in principle for more diverse patterns of symmetry breaking. We consider several constraints on the gauge and scalar sectors of DLRM: the unitarity of scattering processes involving gauge bosons with longitudinal polarisations, the radiative corrections to the muon Delta r parameter and the electroweak precision observables measured at the Z pole and at low energies. Combining these constraints within the frequentist CKMfitter approach, we see that the fit pushes the scale of left-right symmetry breaking up to a few TeV, while favouring an electroweak symmetry breaking triggered not only by the SU (2)(L) x SU (2)(R) bi-doublet, which is the case most commonly considered in the literature, but also by the SU (2)(L) doublet. |

Abstract |
We study the effect of a uniform magnetic field B on the decays pi- > l- nu_l bar, where l(-)=e(-), μ(-), carrying out a general analysis that includes four pi (-) decay constants. Taking the values of these constants from a chiral effective Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model, it is seen that the total decay rate gets strongly increased with respect to the B = 0 case, with an enhancement factor ranging from similar to 10 for eB = 0.1 GeV2 up to similar to 10(3) for eB = 1 GeV2. The ratio between electronic and muonic decays gets also enhanced, reaching a value of about 1 : 2 for eB = 1 GeV2. In addition, we find that for large B the angular distribution of outgoing antineutrinos shows a significant suppression in the direction of the magnetic field. |
