Abstract: The Cabibbo-suppressed decay Lambda b0</mml:msubsup>-> chi (c1)p(-) is observed for the first time using data from proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Evidence for the Lambda b0</mml:msubsup>-> chi (c2)p(-) decay is also found. Abstract: The Xi(++)(cc) -> Xi('+)(c)pi(+) decay is observed using proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1). The Xi(++)(cc) -> Xi('+)(c)pi(+) decay is reconstructed partially, where the photon from the Xi('+)(c) -> Xi(+)(c)gamma decay is not reconstructed and the pK(-)pi(+) final state of the Sc+ baryon is employed. The Xi(++)(cc) -> Xi('+)(c)pi(+) branching fraction relative to that of the Xi(++)(cc) -> Xi('+)(c)pi(+) decay is measured to be 1.41 +/- 0.17 +/- 0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract: A search for the decay B-0 -> phi mu(+) mu(-) is performed using proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). No evidence for the B-0 -> phi mu(+) mu(-) decay is found and an upper limit on the branching fraction, excluding the 0 and charmonium regions in the dimuon spectrum, of 4.4 x 10(-3) at a 90% credibility level, relative to that of the B-s(0) -> phi mu(+) mu(-) decay, is established. Using the measured B-s(0) -> phi mu(+) mu(-) branching fraction and assuming a phase-space model, the absolute branching fraction of the decay B-0 -> phi mu(+) mu(-) in the full q(2) range is determined to be less than 3.2 x 10(-9) at a 90% credibility level.

Abstract: We present a novel benchmark application of a quantum algorithm to Feynman loop integrals. The two on-shell states of a Feynman propagator are identified with the two states of a qubit and a quantum algorithm is used to unfold the causal singular configurations of multiloop Feynman diagrams. To identify such configurations, we exploit Grover's algorithm for querying multiple solutions over unstructured datasets, which presents a quadratic speed-up over classical algorithms when the number of solutions is much smaller than the number of possible configurations. A suitable modification is introduced to deal with topologies in which the number of causal states to be identified is nearly half of the total number of states. The output of the quantum algorithm in IBM Quantum and QUTE Testbed simulators is used to bootstrap the causal representation in the loop-tree duality of representative multiloop topologies. The algorithm may also find application and interest in graph theory to solve problems involving directed acyclic graphs.

Abstract: The interpretation of present and future neutrino experiments requires accurate theoretical predictions for neutrino-nucleus scattering rates. Neutrino structure functions can be reliably evaluated in the deep-inelastic scattering regime within the perturbative QCD (pQCD) framework. At low momentum transfers (Q(2) less than or similar to few GeV2), inelastic structure functions are however affected by large uncertainties which distort event rate predictions for neutrino energies E-nu up to the TeV scale. Here we present a determination of neutrino inelastic structure functions valid for the complete range of energies relevant for phenomenology, from the GeV region entering oscillation analyses to the multi-EeV region accessible at neutrino telescopes. Our NNSF nu approach combines a machine-learning parametrisation of experimental data with pQCD calculations based on state-of-the-art analyses of proton and nuclear parton distributions (PDFs). We compare our determination to other calculations, in particular to the popular Bodek-Yang model. We provide updated predictions for inclusive cross sections for a range of energies and target nuclei, including those relevant for LHC far-forward neutrino experiments such as FASER nu, SND@LHC, and the Forward Physics Facility. The NNSF nu determination is made available as fast interpolation LHAPDF grids, and it can be accessed both through an independent driver code and directly interfaced to neutrino event generators such as GENIE.

Abstract: The total and differential Higgs boson production cross-sections are measured through a combined statistical analysis of the H -> ZZ(*) -> 4l and H -> gamma gamma decay channels. The results are based on a dataset of 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The measured total Higgs boson production cross-section is 55.5(-3.8)(+4.0) pb, consistent with the Standard Model prediction of 55.6 +/- 2.5 pb. All results from the two decay channels are compatible with each other, and their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions. A combined statistical interpretation of the measured fiducial cross-sections as a function of the Higgs boson transverse momentum is performed in order to probe the Yukawa couplings to the bottom and charm quarks. A similar interpretation is performed by including also the constraints from the measurements of Higgs boson production in association with a W or Z boson in the H -> b (b) over bar and c (c) over bar decay channels.

Abstract: This paper presents measurements of the polarization of W bosons in top quark decays, derived from t (t) over bar events with missing transverse momentum, one charged lepton and at least four jets, or two charged leptons and at least two jets. Data from pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV were collected with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.04 fb(-1). The measured fractions of longitudinally, left-and right-handed polarization are F-0 = 0.67 +/- 0.07, F-L = 0.32 +/- 0.04 and F-R = 0.01 +/- 0.05, in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. As the polarization of the W bosons in top quark decays is sensitive to the Wtb vertex Lorentz structure and couplings, the measurements were used to set limits on anomalous contributions to the Wtb couplings.

Abstract: The results of a search for charged Higgs bosons are presented. The analysis is based on 4.6 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 7TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, using top quark pair events with a tau lepton in the final state. The data are consistent with the expected background from Standard Model processes. Assuming that the branching ratio of the charged Higgs boson to a tau lepton and a neutrino is 100%, this leads to upper limits on the branching ratio of top quark decays to a b quark and a charged Higgs boson between 5% and 1% for charged Higgs boson masses ranging from 90GeV to 160GeV, respectively. In the context of the m(h)(max) scenario of the MSSM, tan beta above 12-26, as well as between 1 and 2-6, can be excluded for charged Higgs boson masses between 90GeV and 150GeV.

Abstract: This paper reports a measurement of the W+b-jets (W+b+X and W+b (b) over bar +X) production cross-section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC. These results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb(-1), collected with the ATLAS detector. Cross-sections are presented as a function of jet multiplicity and of the transverse momentum of the leading b-jet for both the muon and electron decay modes of the W boson. The W+b-jets cross-section, corrected for all known detector effects, is quoted in a limited kinematic range. Combining the muon and electron channels, the fiducial cross-section for W+b-jets is measured to be 7.1 +/- 0.5 (stat) +/- 1.4 (syst) pb, consistent with the next-to-leading order QCD prediction, corrected for non-perturbative and double-parton interactions (DPI) contributions, of 4.70 +/- 0.09 (stat) (+0.60)(-0.49) (scale) +/- 0.06 (PDF) +/- 0.16 (non-pert) (+0.52)(-0.38) (DPI) pb.

Abstract: The production of J/psi and gamma mesons in pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector. The J/psi and gamma mesons are reconstructed in the mu(+)mu(-) decay mode and the signal yields are determined with a fit to the mu(+)mu(-) invariant mass distributions. The analysis is performed in the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5 and transverse momentum range 0 < PT < 14 (15) GeV/c of the J/psi (gamma) mesons. The J/psi and gamma production cross-sections and the fraction of J/psi mesons from b-hadron decays are measured as a function of the meson P-T and y.
