Abstract |
The MiniBooNE and SciBooNE collaborations report the results of a joint search for short baseline disappearance of (nu) over bar (mu) at Fermilab's Booster Neutrino Beamline. The MiniBooNE Cherenkov detector and the SciBooNE tracking detector observe antineutrinos from the same beam, therefore the combined analysis of their data sets serves to partially constrain some of the flux and cross section uncertainties. Uncertainties in the nu(mu) background were constrained by neutrino flux and cross section measurements performed in both detectors. A likelihood ratio method was used to set a 90% confidence level upper limit on (nu) over bar (mu) disappearance that dramatically improves upon prior limits in the Delta m(2) = 0.1-100 eV(2) region. |

Abstract |
The measurement of charged-particle event shape variables is presented in inclusive inelastic pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The observables studied are the transverse thrust, thrust minor, and transverse sphericity, each defined using the final-state charged particles' momentum components perpendicular to the beam direction. Events with at least six charged particles are selected by a minimum-bias trigger. In addition to the differential distributions, the evolution of each event shape variable as a function of the leading charged-particle transverse momentum, charged-particle multiplicity, and summed transverse momentum is presented. Predictions from several Monte Carlo models show significant deviations from data. |

Abstract |
We consider a supersymmetric model where the neutrino mass matrix arises from bilinear and trilinear R-parity violation, both restricted by a Z(3) flavor symmetry. Assuming flavor-blind soft supersymmetry breaking conditions, corrected at low energies due to running effects, we obtain a neutrino mass matrix in agreement with oscillation data. In particular, a large theta(13) angle can be easily accommodated. We also find a correlation between the reactor and atmospheric mixing angles. This leads in some scenarios to a clear deviation from theta(23) = pi/4. The lightest supersymmetric particle decay, dominated by the trilinear couplings, provides a direct way to test the model at colliders. |

Abstract |
The photon spectrum in B -> X-s gamma decay, where X-s is any strange hadronic state, is studied using a data sample of (382.8 +/- 4.2) x 10(6) e(+)e(-) -> Upsilon(4S) -> B (B) over bar events collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II collider. The spectrum is used to measure the branching fraction B(B -> X-s gamma) (3.21 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.29 +/- 0.08) x 10(-4) and the first, second, and third moments < E-gamma > = 2.267 +/- 0.019 +/- 0.032 +/- 0.003 GeV, <(E-gamma – < E-gamma >)(2)> = 0.0484 +/- 0.0053 +/- 0.0077 +/- 0.0005 GeV2, and <(E-gamma – < E-gamma)(3)> = -0.0048 +/- 0.0011 +/- 0.0011 +/- 0.0004 GeV3, for the range E-gamma > 1.8 GeV, where E-gamma is the photon energy in the B-meson rest frame. Results are also presented for narrower E-gamma ranges. In addition, the direct CP asymmetry A(CP)(B -> Xs+d gamma) is measured to be 0.057 +/- 0.063. The spectrum itself is also unfolded to the B-meson rest frame; that is the frame in which theoretical predictions for its shape are made. |

Abstract |
We study the process gamma gamma -> J/psi omega using a data sample of 519.2 fb(-1) recorded by the BABAR detector at SLAC at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies near the gamma(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We confirm the existence of the charmoniumlike resonance X (3915) decaying to J/psi omega with a significance of 7.6 standard deviations, including systematic uncertainties, and measure its mass (3919.4 +/- 2.2 +/- 1.6) MeV/c(2) and width (13 +/- 6 +/- 3) MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. A spin-parity analysis supports the assignment J(P) = 0(+) and therefore the identification of the signal as due to the chi(c0)(2P) resonance. In this hypothesis we determine the product between the two-photon width and the final state branching fraction to be (52 +/- 10 +/- 3) eV. |

Abstract |
We use 429 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collision data collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector to measure the radiative transition rate of b -> s gamma with a sum of 38 exclusive final states. The inclusive branching fraction with a minimum photon energy of 1.9 GeV is found to be B((B) over bar -> X-s gamma) = (3.29 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.48) x 10(-4) where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also measure the first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum and extract the best-fit values for the heavy-quark parameters, m(b) and mu(2)(pi), in the kinetic and shape function models. |

Abstract |
A measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass in the decay channel Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi (mu(+) mu(-))Lambda(0)(p pi(-)) is presented. The analysis uses a signal sample of about 2200 Lambda(0)(b) and (Lambda) over bar (0)(b) decays that are reconstructed in 4.9 fb(-1) of ATLAS pp collision data collected in 2011 at the LHC center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A simultaneous mass and decay time maximum likelihood fit is used to extract the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass. They are measured to be tau(Lambda b) = 1.449 +/- 0.036(stat) +/- 0.017(syst) ps and m(Lambda b) = 5619.7 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 1.1(syst) MeV. |

Abstract |
We present a search for the decay B+ -> tau(+)nu using 467.8 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II B-Factory. We select a sample of events with one completely reconstructed B- in the hadronic decay mode (B- -> D-(*X-)0(-) and B- -> J/psi X-). We examine the rest of the event to search for a B+ -> tau(+)nu decay. We identify the tau(+) lepton in the following modes: tau(+) -> e(+)nu(nu) over bar, tau(+) -> mu(+)nu(nu) over bar, tau(+) -> pi(+)(nu) over bar and tau(+) -> rho(+)(nu) over bar. We find an excess of events with respect to the expected background, which excludes the null signal hypothesis at the level of 3.8 sigma (including systematic uncertainties) and corresponds to a branching fraction value of B(B+ -> tau(+)nu) = (1.83(-0.49)(+0.53)(stat) +/- 0.24(syst)) x 10(-4). |

Abstract |
We present improved measurements of CP-violation parameters in the decays B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-), B-0 -> K+pi(-), and B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0), and of the branching fractions for B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0) and B-0 -> K-0 pi(0). The results are obtained with the full data set collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, corresponding to (467 +/- 5) x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. We find the CP-violation parameter values and branching fractions: S pi+pi- = -0.68 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.03, C-pi+pi(-) = -0.25 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.02, A(K+pi-) = -0.107 +/- 0.016(-0.004)(+0.006), C pi(0)pi(0) = -0.43 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.05, B(B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0)) = (1.83 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.13) x 10(-6), B(B-0 -> pi(0)pi(0)) = (10.1 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.4) x 10(-6), where in each case, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We observe CP violation with a significance of 6.7 standard deviations for B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-) and 6.1 standard deviations for B-0 -> K+pi(-), including systematic uncertainties. Constraints on the unitarity triangle angle alpha are determined from the isospin relations among the B -> pi pi rates and asymmetries. Considering only the solution preferred by the Standard Model, we find alpha to be in the range [71 degrees,109 degrees] at the 68% confidence level. |

We establish improved upper limits on branching fractions for B-0 decays to final states where the decay products are purely invisible (i.e., no observable final state particles) and for final states where the only visible product is a photon. Within the Standard Model, these decays have branching fractions that are below the current experimental sensitivity, but various models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict significant contributions for these channels. Using 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) storage ring at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, we establish upper limits at the 90% confidence level of 2.4 x 10(-5) for the branching fraction of B-0 -> invisible and 1.7 x 10(-5) for the branching fraction of B-0 -> invisible + gamma. |
