Title Search for new phenomena in final states with an energetic jet and large missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV using the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article

  Keywords
Abstract Results of a search for new phenomena in final states with an energetic jet and large missing transverse momentum are reported. The search uses proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb(-1) at root s = 13 TeV collected in 2015 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events are required to have at least one jet with a transverse momentum above 250 GeV and no leptons. Several signal regions are considered with increasing missing-transverse-momentum requirements between E-T(miss) > 250 GeV and E-T(miss) > 700 GeV. Good agreement is observed between the number of events in data and Standard Model predictions. The results are translated into exclusion limits in models with large extra spatial dimensions, pair production of weakly interacting dark-matter candidates, and the production of supersymmetric particles in several compressed scenarios.

Title Updated scalar sector constraints in the Higgs triplet model Type Journal Article

Abstract We show that in the Higgs triplet model, after the Higgs discovery, the mixing angle in the CP-even sector can be strongly constrained from unitarity. We also discuss how large quantum effects in h -> gamma gamma may arise in a Standard-Model-like scenario and a certain part of the parameter space can be ruled out from the diphoton signal strength. Using T-parameter and diphoton signal strength measurements, we update the bounds on the nonstandard scalar masses.

Title Unified description of seagull cancellations and infrared finiteness of gluon propagators Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 94 Issue 4 Pages 045002 - 22pp
  Keywords
Abstract We present a generalized theoretical framework for dealing with the important issue of dynamical mass generation in Yang-Mills theories, and, in particular, with the infrared finiteness of the gluon propagators, observed in a multitude of recent lattice simulations. Our analysis is manifestly gauge invariant, in the sense that it preserves the transversality of the gluon self-energy, and gauge independent, given that the conclusions do not depend on the choice of the gauge-fixing parameter within the linear covariant gauges. The central construction relies crucially on the subtle interplay between the Abelian Ward identities satisfied by the nonperturbative vertices and a special integral identity that enforces a vast number of “seagull cancellations” among the one-and two-loop dressed diagrams of the gluon Schwinger-Dyson equation. The key result of these considerations is that the gluon propagator remains rigorously massless, provided that the vertices do not contain (dynamical) massless poles. When such poles are incorporated into the vertices, under the pivotal requirement of respecting the gauge symmetry of the theory, the terms comprising the Ward identities conspire in such a way as to still enforce the total annihilation of all quadratic divergences, inducing, at the same time, residual contributions that account for the saturation of gluon propagators in the deep infrared.

Title Integrated cooling channels in position-sensitive silicon detectors Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of Instrumentation Abbreviated Journal J. Instrum.

Keywords Particle tracking detectors; Particle tracking detectors (Solid-state detectors)
Abstract We present an approach to construct position-sensitive silicon detectors with an integrated cooling circuit. Tests on samples demonstrate that a very modest liquid flow very effectively cool the devices up to a power dissipation of over 10 W/cm(2). The liquid flow is found to have a negligible impact on the mechanical stability. A finite-element simulation predicts the cooling performance to an accuracy of approximately 10%.

Title Measurement of forward W and Z boson production in association with jets in proton-proton collisions at root s=8 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 05 Issue 5 Pages 131 - 23pp
Keywords Electroweak interaction; Forward physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Jet physics; QCD
Abstract The production of W and Z bosons in association with jets is studied in the forward region of proton-proton collisions collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.98 +/- 0.02 fb(-1). The W boson is identified using its decay to a muon and a neutrino, while the Z boson is identified through its decay to a muon pair. Total cross-sections are measured and combined into charge ratios, asymmetries, and ratios of W+jet and Z+jet production cross-sections. Differential measurements are also performed as a function of both boson and jet kinematic variables. All results are in agreement with Standard Model predictions.
