Abstract: A search for charginos and neutralinos at the Large Hadron Collider using fully hadronic final states and missing transverse momentum is reported. Pair-produced charginos or neutralinos are explored, each decaying into a high-pT Standard Model weak boson. Fully hadronic final states are studied to exploit the advantage of the large branching ratio, and the efficient rejection of backgrounds by identifying the high-pT bosons using large-radius jets and jet substructure information. An integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is used. No significant excess is found beyond the Standard Model expectation. Exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level are set on wino or higgsino production with various assumptions about the decay branching ratios and the type of lightest supersymmetric particle. A wino (higgsino) mass up to 1060 (900) GeV is excluded when the lightest supersymmetry particle mass is below 400 (240) GeV and the mass splitting is larger than 400 (450) GeV. The sensitivity to high-mass winos and higgsinos is significantly extended relative to previous LHC searches using other final states.

Abstract: The current most stringent constraints for the existence of sub-GeV dark matter coupling to Standard Model via a massive vector boson A' were set by the NA64 experiment for the mass region m(A') less than or similar to 250 MeV, by analyzing data from the interaction of 2.84 x 10(11) 100-GeV electrons with an active thick target and searching for missing-energy events. In this work, by including A' production via secondary positron annihilation with atomic electrons, we extend these limits in the 200-300 MeV region by almost an order of magnitude, touching for the first time the dark matter relic density constrained parameter combinations. Our new results demonstrate the power of the resonant annihilation process in missing energy dark-matter searches, paving the road to future dedicated e(+) beam efforts.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the D-0 and D+ lifetimes using D-0 -> K-pi(+) and D+ -> K-pi(+)pi(+) decays reconstructed in e(+)e(-) -> c (c) over bar data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The data, collected at center-of-mass energies at or near the (sic)(4S) resonance, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 fb(-1). The results, (tau)(D-0) = 410.5 +/- 1.1 (stat) +/- 0.8(syst) fs and tau(D-0) = 1030.4 +/- 4.7 (stat) +/- 3.1 (syst) fs, are the most precise to date and are consistent with previous determinations.

Abstract: We perform a unitary coupled channel study of the interaction of the D*D-+(0), D*D-0(+) channels and find a state barely bound, very close to isospin I = 0. We take the experimental mass as input and obtain the width of the state and the (DD0 pi-)-D-0+ mass distribution. When the mass of the T-cc state quoted in the experimental paper from raw data is used, the width obtained is of the order of the 80 keV, small compared to the value given in that work. Yet, when the mass obtained in an analysis of the data considering the experimental resolution is taken, the width obtained is about 43 keV and both the width and the (DD0 pi+)-D-0 mass distribution are in remarkable agreement with the results obtained in that latter analysis.

Abstract: Among the several strategies for indirect searches of dark matter, a very promising one is to look for the gamma-rays from decaying dark matter. Here we use the most up-to-date upper bounds on the gamma-ray flux from 10(5) to 10(11) GeV, obtained from CASA-MIA, KASCADE, KASCADE-Grande, Pierre Auger Observatory, Telescope Array and EAS-MSU. We obtain global limits on dark matter lifetime in the range of masses in m(DM) = [10(7)-10(15)] GeV. We provide the bounds for a set of decay channels chosen as representatives. The constraints derived here are new and cover a region of the parameter space not yet explored. We compare our results with the projected constraints from future neutrino telescopes, in order to quantify the improvement that will be obtained by the complementary high-energy neutrino searches.

Abstract: An angular analysis of the rare decay B-s(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-) is presented, using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.4 fb(-1). The observables describing the angular distributions of the decay B-s(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-) are determined in regions of q(2), the square of the dimuon invariant mass. The results are consistent with Standard Model predictions.

Abstract: In the context of lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) studies, we fully derive a general tensor formalism to investigate the role that left- and right-handed neutrino new-physics (NP) terms may have in b -> c tau(nu) over bar (tau) transitions. We present, for several extensions of the Standard Model (SM), numerical results for the Lambda(b) -> Lambda(c)tau(nu) over bar (tau) semileptonic decay, which is expected to be measured with precision at the LHCb. This reaction can be a new source of experimental information that can help to confirm, or maybe rule out, LFUV presently seen in (B) over bar meson decays. The present study analyzes observables that can help in distinguishing between different NP scenarios that otherwise provide very similar results for the branching ratios, which are our currently best hints for LFUV. Since the tau lepton is very short-lived, we consider three subsequent tau-decay modes, two hadronic pi nu(tau) and rho nu(tau) and one leptonic mu(nu) over bar (mu)nu(tau), which have been previously studied for (B) over bar -> D(*) decays. Within the tensor formalism that we have developed in previous works, we re-obtain the expressions for the differential decay width written in terms of visible (experimentally accessible) variables of the massive particle created in the tau decay. There are seven different tau angular and spin asymmetries that are defined in this way and that can be extracted from experiment. Those asymmetries provide observables that can help in constraining possible SM extensions.

Abstract: Vector bosons, such as dark photon A' or Z', can couple to muons and be produced in the bremsstrahlung reaction mu(-) + N -> mu(-) + N + A'(Z'). Their possible subsequent invisible decay can be detected in fixed target experiments through missing energy/momentum signature. In such experiments, not only is the energy transfer to A'(Z') important but also the recoil muon angle psi μ0. In this paper, we derive the total and the double differential cross sections involved in this process using the phase space Weizsacker-Williams and improved Weizsacker-Williams approximations, as well as using exact-tree-level calculations. As an example, we compare the derived cross sections and resulting signal yields in the NA64 μexperiment that uses a 160 GeV muon beam at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron accelerator. We also discuss its impact on the NA64 μexpected sensitivity to explore the (g – 2)(mu) anomaly favored region with a Z' boson considering 10(12) muons accumulated on target.

Abstract: The plethora of increasingly precise experiments which hunt for axion-like particles (ALPs), as well as their widely different energy reach, call for the theoretical understanding of ALP couplings at loop-level. We derive the one-loop contributions to ALP-SM effective couplings, including finite corrections. The complete leading-order – dimension five – effective linear Lagrangian is considered. The ALP is left off-shell, which is of particular impact on LHC and accelerator searches of ALP couplings to gamma gamma, ZZ, WW, Z gamma gluons and fermions. All results are obtained in the covariant Rg gauge. A few phenomenological consequences are also explored as illustration, with flavour diagonal channels in the case of fermions: in particular, we explore constraints on the coupling of the ALP to top quarks, that can be extracted from LHC data, from astrophysical sources and from Dark Matter direct detection experiments such as PandaX, LUX and XENONIT. Furthermore, we clarify the relation between alternative ALP bases, the role of gauge anomalous couplings and their interface with chirality-conserving and chirality-flip fermion interactions, and we briefly discuss renormalization group aspects.

Abstract: We present a chiral (K) over barN interaction model that has been developed and optimized in order to account for the experimental data of inelastic (K) over barN reaction channels that open at higher energies. In particular, we study the effect of the higher partial waves, which originate directly from the chiral Lagrangian, as they could supersede the role of high-spin resonances employed in earlier phenomenological models to describe meson-baryon cross sections in the 2 GeV region. We present a detailed derivation of the partial wave amplitudes that emerge from the chiral SU(3) meson-baryon Lagrangian up to the d-waves and next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion. We implement a nonperturbative unitarization in coupled channels and optimize the model parameters to a large pool of experimental data in the relevant energy range where these new contributions are expected to be important. The obtained results are encouraging. They indicate the ability of the chiral higher partial waves to extend the description of the scattering data to higher energies and to account for structures in the reaction cross-sections that cannot be accommodated by theoretical models limited to the s-waves.
