Abstract: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is an excellent diffuse reflector widely used in light collection systems for particle physics experiments. In noble element systems, it is often coated with tetraphenyl butadiene (TPB) to allow detection of vacuum ultraviolet scintillation light. In this work this dependence is investigated for PTFE coated with TPB in air for light of wavelengths of 200 nm, 260 nm, and 450 nm. The results show that TPB-coated PTFE has a reflectance of approximately 92% for thicknesses ranging from 5 mm to 10 mm at 450 nm, with negligible variation as a function of thickness within this range. A cross-check of these results using an argon chamber supports the conclusion that the change in thickness from 5 mm to 10 mm does not affect significantly the light response at 128 nm. Our results indicate that pieces of TPB-coated PTFE thinner than the typical 10 mm can be used in particle physics detectors without compromising the light signal.

Abstract: Characterizing multiloop topologies is an important step towards developing novel methods at high perturbative orders in quantum field theory. In this article, we exploit the Loop-Tree Duality (LTD) formalism to analyse multiloop topologies that appear for the first time at five loops. Explicitly, we open the loops into connected trees and group them according to their topological properties. Then, we identify a kernel generator, the so-called N7MLT universal topology, that allows us to describe any scattering amplitude of up to five loops. Furthermore, we provide factorization and recursion relations that enable us to write these multiloop topologies in terms of simpler subtopologies, including several subsets of Feynman diagrams with an arbitrary number of loops. Our approach takes advantage of many symmetries present in the graphical description of the original fundamental five-loop topologies. The results obtained in this article might shed light into a more efficient determination of higher-order corrections to the running couplings, which are crucial in the current and future precision physics program.

Abstract: We study the LHC discovery potential in the search for heavy neutral leptons (HNL) with a new signature: a displaced shower in the CMS muon detector, giving rise to a large cluster of hits forming a displaced shower. A new Delphes module is used to model the CMS detector response for such displaced decays. We reinterpret a dedicated CMS search for neutral long-lived particles decaying in the CMS muon endcap detectors for the minimal HNL scenario. We demonstrate that this new strategy is particularly sensitive to active-sterile mixings with tau leptons, due to hadronic tau decays. HNL masses between similar to 1-6 GeV can be accessed for mixings as low as vertical bar V-tau N vertical bar(2) similar to 10(-7), probing unique regions of parameter space in the tau sector.

Abstract: The ratio of branching fractions of B-c(+) -> B-s(0)pi(+) and B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+) decays is measured with proton-proton collision data of a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The data were collected with the LHCb experiment during 2016-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1). The B-s(0) mesons are reconstructed via the decays B-s(0) -> J/psi phi and B-s(0) -> D-s(-)pi(+). The ratio of branching fractions is measured to be B(B-c(+) -> B-s(0)pi(+))/B(B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+)) = 91 +/- 10 +/- 8 +/- 3 where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the knowledge of the branching fractions of the intermediate state decays.

Abstract: We report on a measurement of the Lambda(+)(c) to D-0 production ratio in peripheral PbPb collisions at root sNN = 5.02TeV with the LHCb detector in the forward rapidity region 2 < y < 4.5. The Lambda(+)(c) (D-0) hadrons are reconstructed via the decay channel Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+) (D-0 -> K- pi(+)) for 2 < pT < 8 GeV/ c and in the centrality range of about 65-90%. The results show no significant dependence on pT, y or the mean number of participating nucleons. They are also consistent with similar measurements obtained by the LHCb collaboration in pPb and Pbp collisions at root sNN = 5.02TeV. The data agree well with predictions from PYTHIA in pp collisions at root s = 5TeV but are in tension with predictions of the Statistical Hadronization model.
