Title Results of the BiPo-1 prototype for radiopurity measurements for the SuperNEMO double beta decay source foils Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research A Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Instrum. Methods Phys. Res. A

Abstract The development of BiPo detectors is dedicated to the measurement of extremely high radiopurity in (TI)-T-208 and Bi-214 for the SuperNEMO double beta decay source foils. A modular prototype, called BiPo-1, with 0.8 m(2) of sensitive surface area, has been running in the Modane Underground Laboratory since February, 2008. The goal of BiPo-1 is to measure the different components of the background and in particular the surface radiopurity of the plastic scintillators that make up the detector. The first phase of data collection has been dedicated to the measurement of the radiopurity in (TI)-T-208. After more than one year of background measurement, a surface activity of the scintillators of A((TI)-T-208) = 1.5 μBq/m(2) is reported here. Given this level of background, a larger BiPo detector having 12 m(2) of active surface area, is able to qualify the radiopurity of the SuperNEMO selenium double beta decay foils with the required sensitivity of A((TI)-T-208) <2 μBq/kg (90% CL.) with a six month measurement.

Title New interpretation for the D*(s2)(2573) and the prediction of novel exotic charmed mesons Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 82 Issue 1 Pages 014010 - 17pp

Abstract In this manuscript we study the vector-vector interaction within the hidden-gauge formalism in a coupled channel unitary approach. In the sector C = 1, S = 1, J = 2 we get a pole in the T matrix around 2572 MeV that we identify with the D*(s2)(2573), coupling strongly to the D*K*(D-s(*)phi(omega)) channels. In addition we obtain resonances in other exotic sectors which have not been studied before such as C = 1, S = -1, C = 2, S = 0 and C = 2, S = 1. These "flavor-exotic'' states are interpreted as D*(K) over bar*, D*D*, and (DsD)-D-** molecular states but have not been observed yet. In total we obtain nine states with different spin, isospin, charm, and strangeness of non-C = 0, S = 0 and C = 1, S = 0 character, which have been reported before.

Title Description of the f(2)(1270), rho(3)(1690), f(4)(2050), rho(5)(2350), f(6)(2510) resonances as multi-rho(770) states Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
  Volume 82 Issue 5 Pages 054013 - 11pp
  Keywords
Abstract In a previous work regarding the interaction of two rho(770) resonances, the f(2)(1270) (J(PC) = 2(++)) resonance was obtained dynamically as a two-rho molecule with a very strong binding energy, 135 MeV per rho particle. In the present work we use the rho rho interaction in spin 2 and isospin 0 channel to show that the resonances rho(3)(1690) (3(--)), f(4)(2050) (4(++)), rho(5)(2350) (5(--)), and f(6)(2510) (6(++)) are basically molecules of increasing number of rho(770) particles. We use the fixed center approximation of the Faddeev equations to write the multibody interaction in terms of the two-body scattering amplitudes. We find the masses of the states very close to the experimental values and we get an increasing value of the binding energy per rho as the number of rho mesons is increased.

Abstract We report a search for the rare decays B+ -> (D+K0) and B+ -> D+K*(0) in an event sample of approximately 465 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no significant evidence for either mode and we set 90% probability upper limits on the branching fractions of B(B+ -> (D+K0)) < 2.9 x 10(-6) and B(B+ -> D+K*(0)) < 3.0 x 10(-6)

Title Improved measurement of neutral current coherent pi(0) production on carbon in a few-GeV neutrino beam Type Journal Article
Year 2010 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D

Abstract The SciBooNE Collaboration reports a measurement of neutral current coherent pi(0) production on carbon by a muon neutrino beam with average energy 0.8 GeV. The separation of coherent from inclusive pi(0) production has been improved by detecting recoil protons from resonant pi(0) production. We measure the ratio of the neutral current coherent pi(0) production to total charged current cross sections to be 1.16 +/- 0.24) x 10(-2). The ratio of charged current coherent pi(+) to neutral current coherent pi(0) production is calculated to be 0.14(-0.28)(+0.30), using our published charged current coherent pion measurement.
