BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Measurement of branching fractions and rate asymmetries in the rare decays B -> K((*))l(+)l(-). Phys. Rev. D, 86(3), 032012–15pp.
Abstract: In a sample of 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) collider we study the rare decays B -> K((*))l(+)l(-), where l(+)l(-) is either e(+)e(-) or mu(+)mu(-). We report results on partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries in seven bins of dilepton mass-squared. We further present CP and lepton-flavor asymmetries for dilepton masses below and above the J/psi resonance. We find no evidence for CP or lepton-flavor violation. The partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries are consistent with the Standard Model predictions and with results from other experiments.

Abstract: Dark matter stability can be achieved through a partial breaking of a flavor symmetry. In this framework we propose a type-II seesaw model where left-handed matter transforms nontrivially under the flavor group Delta(54), providing correlations between neutrino oscillation parameters, consistent with the recent Daya-Bay and RENO reactor angle measurements, as well as lower bounds for neutrinoless double beta decay. The dark matter phenomenology is provided by a Higgs-portal.

Nieves, J., Sanchez, F., Ruiz Simo, I., & Vicente Vacas, M. J. (2012). Neutrino energy reconstruction and the shape of the charged current quasielastic-like total cross section. Phys. Rev. D, 85(11), 113008–9pp.
Abstract: We show that because of the multinucleon mechanism effects, the algorithm used to reconstruct the neutrino energy is not adequate when dealing with quasielastic-like events, and a distortion of the total flux-unfolded cross-section shape is produced. This amounts to a redistribution of strength from high to low energies, which gives rise to a sizable excess (deficit) of low (high) energy neutrinos. This distortion of the shape leads to a good description of the MiniBooNE unfolded charged current quasielastic-like cross sections published by A. A. Aguilar-Arevalo et al. [(MiniBooNE Collaboration), Phys. Rev. D 81, 092005 (2010)]. However, these changes in the shape are artifacts of the unfolding process that ignores multinucleon mechanisms.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Precise measurement of the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)(gamma) cross section with the initial-state radiation method at BABAR. Phys. Rev. D, 86(3), 032013–49pp.
Abstract: A precise measurement of the cross section of the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-) (gamma) from threshold to an energy of 3 GeV is obtained with the initial-state radiation (ISR) method using 232 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The ISR luminosity is determined from a study of the leptonic process e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-) (gamma)gamma(ISR), which is found to agree with the next-to-leading-order QED prediction to within 1.1%. The cross section for the process e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-) (gamma) is obtained with a systematic uncertainty of 0.5% in the dominant rho resonance region. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the measured pi pi cross section from threshold to 1.8 GeV is (514.1 +/- 2.2(stat) +/- 3.1(sys)) x 10(-10).

Gomez Dumm, D., Noguera, S., & Scoccola, N. N. (2012). Form factors of radiative pion decays in nonlocal chiral quark models. Phys. Rev. D, 86(7), 074020–10pp.
Abstract: We study the radiative pion decay pi(+) -> e(+) nu(e)gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we analyze the momentum dependence of the vector form factor F-V(q(2)) and the slope of the axial-vector form factor F-A(q(2)) at threshold. Our results are compared with available experimental information and with the predictions given by the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. In addition we calculate the low energy constants l(5) and l(6), comparing our results with the values obtained in chiral perturbation theory.

Abstract: We perform a comparative theoretical study of the data at spacelike momentum transfer for the gamma*gamma -> pi(0) transition form factor, just reported by the Belle Collaboration, vs. those published before by BABAR, also including the older CLEO and CELLO data. Various implications for the structure of the pi(0) distribution amplitude vis-a-vis those data are discussed and the existing theoretical predictions are classified into three distinct categories. We argue that the actual bifurcation of the data with antithetic trends is artificial and reason that the Belle data are the better option.

Forero, D. V., Tortola, M., & Valle, J. W. F. (2012). Global status of neutrino oscillation parameters after Neutrino-2012. Phys. Rev. D, 86(7), 073012–8pp.
Abstract: Here we update the global fit of neutrino oscillations in Refs. [T. Schwetz, M. Tortola, and J. W. F. Valle, New J. Phys. 13, 063004 (2011); T. Schwetz, M. Tortola, and J. W. F. Valle, New J. Phys. 13, 109401 (2011)] including the recent measurements of reactor antineutrino disappearance reported by the Double Chooz, Daya Bay, and RENO experiments, together with latest MINOS and T2K appearance and disappearance results, as presented at the Neutrino-2012 conference. We find that the preferred global fit value of theta(13) is quite large: sin(2)theta(13) similar or equal to 0.025 for normal and inverted neutrino mass ordering, with theta(13) = 0 now excluded at more than 10 sigma. The impact of the new theta(13) measurements over the other neutrino oscillation parameters is discussed as well as the role of the new long-baseline neutrino data and the atmospheric neutrino analysis in the determination of a non-maximal atmospheric angle theta(23).

Archidiacono, M., Giusarma, E., Melchiorri, A., & Mena, O. (2012). Dark radiation in extended cosmological scenarios. Phys. Rev. D, 86(4), 043509–7pp.
Abstract: Recent cosmological data have provided evidence for a “dark” relativistic background at high statistical significance. Parameterized in terms of the number of relativistic degrees of freedom N-eff, however, the current data seem to indicate a higher value than the one expected in the standard scenario based on three active neutrinos. This dark radiation component can be characterized not only by its abundance but also by its clustering properties, as its effective sound speed and its viscosity parameter. It is therefore crucial to study the correlations among the dark radiation properties and key cosmological parameters, as the dark energy equation of state or the running of the scalar spectral index, with current and future cosmic microwave background data. We find that dark radiation with viscosity parameters different from their standard values may be misinterpreted as an evolving dark energy component or as a running spectral index in the power spectrum of primordial fluctuations.

Das, S. P., Deppisch, F. F., Kittel, O., & Valle, J. W. F. (2012). Heavy neutrinos and lepton flavor violation in left-right symmetric models at the LHC. Phys. Rev. D, 86(5), 055006–20pp.
Abstract: We discuss lepton flavor violating processes induced in the production and decay of heavy right-handed neutrinos at the LHC. Such particles appear in left-right symmetrical extensions of the standard model as the messengers of neutrino mass generation, and can have masses at the TeV scale. We determine the expected sensitivity on the right-handed neutrino mixing matrix, as well as on the right-handed gauge boson and heavy neutrino masses. By comparing the sensitivity of the LHC with that of searches for low energy lepton flavor violating processes, we identify favorable areas of the parameter space to explore the complementarity between lepton flavor violating at low and high energies.

BABAR Collaboration(Lees, J. P. et al), Martinez-Vidal, F., & Oyanguren, A. (2012). Search for resonances decaying to eta(c)pi(+) pi(-) in two-photon interactions. Phys. Rev. D, 86(9), 092005–10pp.
Abstract: We report a study of the process gamma gamma -> X -> eta(c)pi(+)pi(-) , where X stands for one of the resonances chi(c2)(1P), eta(c)(2S), X(3872), X(3915), or chi(c2)(2P). The analysis is performed with a data sample of 473.9 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. We do not observe a significant signal for any channel, and calculate 90% confidence-level upper limits on the products of branching fractions and two-photon widths Gamma B-x ->gamma gamma(X -> eta(c)pi(+) pi(-)): 15.7 eV for chi(c2)(1P), 133 eV for eta(c)(2S), 11.1 eV for X(3872) (assuming it to be a spin-2 state), 16 eV for X(3915) (assuming it to be a spin-2 state), and 18 eV for chi(c2)(2P). We also report upprt limits on the rations of branching fractions B(eta(c)(2S) -> eta(c)pi(+) pi(-))/B(eta(c)(2S) -> (KSK+)-K-0 pi(-)) < 10.0 and B(chi(c2)(1P) -> eta(c)pi(+) pi(-))/B(chi(c2)(1P) -> (KSK+)-K-0 pi(-)) < 32.9 at the 90% confidence level.
