Title Study of Bc+ meson decays to charmonia plus multihadron final states Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 07 Issue 7 Pages 198 - 26pp
Keywords B Physics; Hadron-Hadron Scattering; QCD; Spectroscopy
Abstract Four decay modes of the B-c(+) meson into a J/psi meson and multiple charged kaons or pions are studied using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi K+ K- pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) is observed for the first time, and evidence for the B-c(+) -> J/psi 4 pi(+)3 pi(-) decay is found. The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi 3 pi(+)2 pi(-) is observed and the previous observation of the B-c(+) -> psi(2S)pi(+)pi(+)pi(-) decay is confirmed using the psi(2S) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Ratios of the branching fractions of these four B-c(+) decay channels are measured.

Title Measurement of Υ production in pp collisions at √s=5 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 07 Issue 7 Pages 069 - 33pp
Keywords Hadron-Hadron Scattering; Heavy Quark Production; QCD; Quarkonium
Abstract The production cross-sections of Υ mesons, namely Υ(1S), Υ(2S) and Υ(3S), in pp collisions at root s = 5TeV are measured with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.13 +/- 0.18 pb(-1) collected by the LHCb detector. The Υ mesons are reconstructed in the decay mode Υ -> mu(+)mu(-). Double differential cross-sections times branching fractions, as functions of the transverse momentum p(T) and the rapidity y of the Υ mesons, are measured in the range pT < 20 GeV/ c and 2.0 < y < 4.5. The results integrated over these pT and y ranges are sigma((sic)(1S)) x B((sic)(1S) -> mu(+) mu(-)) = 2101 +/- 33 +/- 83 pb, sigma((sic)(2S)) x B((sic)(2S) -> mu(+) mu(-)) = 526 +/- 20 +/- 21 pb, sigma((sic)(3S)) x B((sic)(3S) -> mu(+) mu(-)) = 242 +/- 16 +/- 10 pb, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The ratios of cross-sections between measurements of two different (sic) states and between measurements at different centre-of-mass energies are determined. The nuclear modification factor of (sic)(1S) at root s = 5TeV is updated as well using the directly measured cross-section results from this analysis.

Title NNLO QCD corrections to event shapes at the LHC Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 03 Issue 3 Pages 129 - 24pp
Keywords Higher-Order Perturbative Calculations; Specific QCD Phenomenology
Abstract In this work we perform the first ever calculation of jet event shapes at hadron colliders at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) in QCD. The inclusion of higher order corrections removes the shape difference observed between data and next-to-leading order predictions. The theory uncertainty at NNLO is comparable to, or slightly larger than, existing measurements. Except for narrow kinematical ranges where all-order resummation becomes important, the NNLO predictions for the event shapes considered in the present work are reliable. As a prime application of the results derived in this work we provide a detailed investigation of the prospects for the precision determination of the strong coupling constant and its running through TeV scales from LHC data.

Title Gauge Sector Dynamics in QCD Type Journal Article

Abstract The dynamics of the QCD gauge sector give rise to non-perturbative phenomena that are crucial for the internal consistency of the theory; most notably, they account for the generation of a gluon mass through the action of the Schwinger mechanism, the taming of the Landau pole, the ensuing stabilization of the gauge coupling, and the infrared suppression of the three-gluon vertex. In the present work, we review some key advances in the ongoing investigation of this sector within the framework of the continuum Schwinger function methods, supplemented by results obtained from lattice simulations.

Title The Euclidean Adler function and its interplay with Delta alpha(had)(QED) and alpha(s) Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 04 Issue 4 Pages 067 - 57pp
Keywords Correlation Functions; Effective Field Theories of QCD; The Strong Coupling
Abstract Three different approaches to precisely describe the Adler function in the Euclidean regime at around 2 GeVs are available: dispersion relations based on the hadronic production data in e(+)e(-) annihilation, lattice simulations and perturbative QCD (pQCD). We make a comprehensive study of the perturbative approach, supplemented with the leading power corrections in the operator product expansion. All known contributions are included, with a careful assessment of uncertainties. The pQCD predictions are compared with the Adler functions extracted from ?a( QED)(had)(Q(2)), using both the DHMZ compilation of e(+)e(-) data and published lattice results. Taking as input the FLAG value of a(s), the pQCD Adler function turns out to be in good agreement with the lattice data, while the dispersive results lie systematically below them. Finally, we explore the sensitivity to a(s) of the direct comparison between the data-driven, lattice and QCD Euclidean Adler functions. The precision with which the renormalisation group equation can be tested is also evaluated.
