Abstract: In the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, the alignment of Yukawa matrices in flavour space guarantees the absence of tree-level flavour-changing neutral currents, while allowing at the same time for new sources of CP violation, implying potentially large effects in many low-energy processes. In this work we study the constraints from exclusive radiative B -> V gamma decays, where V denotes a light vector meson. The current experimental data on the CP-averaged branching ratios and the direct CP and isospin asymmetries are analyzed. It is found that, while the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries do not constrain the parameter space much further compared to the inclusive B -> X-s,X-d gamma decays, complementary constraints can be obtained from the isospin asymmetries Delta(K*gamma) and Delta(rho gamma). In addition, correlations between the various observables in exclusive B -> V gamma and inclusive B -> X-s,X-d gamma decays are investigated in detail, and predictions are made for several so far unmeasured observables.

Abstract: We evaluate the probability of future neutrino oscillation facilities to discover leptonic CP violation and/or measure the neutrino mass hierarchy. We study how this probability is affected by positive or negative hints for these observables to be found at T2K and NO nu A. We consider the following facilities: LBNE; T2HK; and the 10 GeV Neutrino Factory (NF10), and show how their discovery probabilities change with the running time of T2K and NO nu A conditioned to their results. We find that, if after 15 years T2K and NO nu A have not observed a 90% CL hint of CP violation, then LBNE and T2HK have less than a 10% chance of achieving a 5 sigma discovery, whereas NF10 still has a similar to 40% chance to do so. Conversely, if T2K and NO nu A have an early 90% CL hint in 5 years from now, T2HK has a rather large chance to achieve a 5 sigma CP violation discovery (75% or 55%, depending on whether the mass hierarchy is known or not). This is to be compared with the 90% (30%) probability that NF10 (LBNE) would have to observe the same signal at 5 sigma. A hierarchy measurement at 5 sigma is achievable at both LBNE and NF10 with more than 90% probability, irrespectively of the outcome of T2K and NO nu A. We also find that if LBNE or a similar very long baseline super-beam is the only next generation facility to be built, then it is very useful to continue running T2K and NO nu A (or at least T2K) beyond their original schedule in order to increase the CP violation discovery chances, given their complementarity.

Abstract: The next generation neutrino observatory proposed by the LBNO collaboration will address fundamental questions in particle and astroparticle physics. The experiment consists of a far detector, in its first stage a 20 kt LAr double phase TPC and a magnetised iron calorimeter, situated at 2300 km from CERN and a near detector based on a highpressure argon gas TPC. The long baseline provides a unique opportunity to study neutrino flavour oscillations over their 1st and 2nd oscillation maxima exploring the L/E behaviour, and distinguishing effects arising from delta(CP) and matter. In this paper we have reevaluated the physics potential of this setup for determining the mass hierarchy (MH) and discovering CP-violation (CPV), using a conventional neutrino beam from the CERN SPS with a power of 750 kW. We use conservative assumptions on the knowledge of oscillation parameter priors and systematic uncertainties. The impact of each systematic error and the precision of oscillation prior is shown. We demonstrate that the first stage of LBNO can determine unambiguously the MH to > 5 sigma C.L. over the whole phase space. We show that the statistical treatment of the experiment is of very high importance, resulting in the conclusion that LBNO has similar to 100% probability to determine the MH in at most 4-5 years of running. Since the knowledge of MH is indispensable to extract delta(CP) from the data, the first LBNO phase can convincingly give evidence for CPV on the 3 sigma C.L. using today's knowledge on oscillation parameters and realistic assumptions on the systematic uncertainties.

Abstract: The first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed decay Lambda(0)(b) -> J / psi p pi(-) is reported using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at 7 and 8TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). A prominent signal is observed and the branching fraction relative to the decay mode Lambda(0)(b) -> J / psi pK(-) is determined to be B(Lambda(0)(b) -> J / psi p pi(-))/ B(Lambda(0)(b) -> J / psi pK(-)) = 0.0824 +/- 0.0025 (stat) +/- 0.0042 (syst). A search for direct CP violation is performed. The difference in the CP asymmetries between these two decays is found to be ACP(Lambda(0)(b) -> J / psi p pi(-))/ A(CP)(Lambda(0)(b) -> J / psi pK(-)) = (+5.7 +/- 2.4 (stat) +/- 1.2 (syst))%, which is compatible with CP symmetry at the 2.2 sigma level.

Abstract: The direct CP asymmetries of the decays B-0 -> K-*0 mu(+) mu(-) and B+ -> K+ mu(+) mu(-) are measured using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. The respective control modes B-0 -> J/psi K+ and B+ -> J/psi K+ are used to account for detection and production asymmetries. The measurements are made in several intervals of mu(+)mu(-) invariant mass squared, with the phi(1020) and charmonium resonance regions excluded. Under the hypothesis of zero CP asymmetry in the control modes, the average values of the asymmetries are A(CP)(B-0 -> K-*0 mu(+) mu(-) and B+ -> K+ mu(+) mu(-)) = -0.035 +/- 0.024 +/- 0.003, A(CP)(B+ -> K+ mu(+) mu(-) = 0.012 +/- 0.017 +/- 0.001, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are due to systematic effects. Both measurements are consistent with the Standard Model prediction of small CP asymmetry in these decays.
