Title Quadratic deformation of Minkowski space Type (up) Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Fortschritte der Physik-Progress of Physics Abbreviated Journal Fortschritte Phys.-Prog. Phys.

Keywords Deformations; star product; Minkowski spacetime
Abstract We present a deformation of the Minkowski space as embedded into the conformal space (in the formalism of twistors) based in the quantum versions of the corresponding kinematic groups. We compute explicitly the star product, whose Poisson bracket is quadratic. We show that the star product although defined on the polynomials can be extended differentiably. Finally we compute the Eucliden and Minkowskian real forms of the deformation.

Abstract Methods similar to those used for obtaining supersymmetric black hole solutions can be employed to find also non-supersymmetric solutions. We briefly review some of them, with the emphasis on the non-extremal deformation ansatz of [1].

Abstract In a sample of 471 x 10(6) B (B) over bar events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e(+)e(-) collider we study the rare decays B -> K((*))l(+)l(-), where l(+)l(-) is either e(+)e(-) or mu(+)mu(-). We report results on partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries in seven bins of dilepton mass-squared. We further present CP and lepton-flavor asymmetries for dilepton masses below and above the J/psi resonance. We find no evidence for CP or lepton-flavor violation. The partial branching fractions and isospin asymmetries are consistent with the Standard Model predictions and with results from other experiments.

Title Scalar mesons moving in a finite volume and the role of partial wave mixing Type (up) Journal Article

Abstract Phase shifts and resonance parameters can be obtained from finite-volume lattice spectra for interacting pairs of particles, moving with non-zero total momentum. We present a simple derivation of the method that is subsequently applied to obtain the pi pi and pi K phase shifts in the sectors with total isospin I – 0 and I – 1/2, respectively. Considering different total momenta, one obtains extra data points for a given volume that allow for a very efficient extraction of the resonance parameters in the infinite-volume limit. Corrections due to the mixing of partial waves are provided. We expect that our results will help to optimize the strategies in lattice simulations, which aim at an accurate determination of the scattering and resonance properties.

Title Nonsingular Charged Black Holes A La Palatini Type (up) Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication International Journal of Modern Physics D Abbreviated Journal Int. J. Mod. Phys. D

Keywords Extended theories of gravity; Palatini formalism; Planck scale
Abstract We argue that the quantum nature of matter and gravity should lead to a discretization of the allowed states of the matter confined in the interior of black holes. To support and illustrate this idea, we consider a quadratic extension of general relativity (GR) formulated a la Palatini and show that nonrotating, electrically charged black holes develop a compact core at the Planck density which is nonsingular if the mass spectrum satisfies a certain discreteness condition. We also find that the area of the core is proportional to the number of charges times the Planck area.
