Title (down) Search for Low-Mass Dark-Sector Higgs Bosons Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 108 Issue 21 Pages 211801 - 7pp
  Keywords
Abstract Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs boson using 516 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the standard model-dark-sector mixing angle and the dark-sector coupling constant.

Title (down) Search for long-lived particles in e(+)e(-) collisions Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 114 Issue 17 Pages 171801 - 7pp
  Keywords
Abstract We present a search for a neutral, long-lived particle L that is produced in e(+)e(-)collisions and decays at a significant distance from the e(+)e(-) interaction point into various flavor combinations of two oppositely charged tracks. The analysis uses an e(+)e(-) data sample with a luminosity of 489.1 fb(-1) collected by the BABAR detector at the Upsilon(4S), Upsilon(3S), and Upsilon(2S) resonances and just below the Upsilon(4S). Fitting the two-track mass distribution in search of a signal peak, we do not observe a significant signal, and set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the L production cross section, branching fraction, and reconstruction efficiency for six possible two-body L decay modes as a function of the L mass. The efficiency is given for each final state as a function of the mass, lifetime, and transverse momentum of the candidate, allowing application of the upper limits to any production model. In addition, upper limits are provided on the branching fraction B(B -> XsL), where X-s is a strange hadronic system.

Abstract Thermal dark matter models with particle chi masses below the electroweak scale can provide an explanation for the observed relic dark matter density. This would imply the existence of a new feeble interaction between the dark and ordinary matter. We report on a new search for the sub-GeV chi production through the interaction mediated by a new vector boson, called the dark photon A ' , in collisions of 100 GeV electrons with the active target of the NA64 experiment at the CERN SPS. With 9.37 x 10(11) electrons on target collected during 2016-2022 runs NA64 probes for the first time the well-motivated region of parameter space of benchmark thermal scalar and fermionic dark matter models. No evidence for dark matter production has been found. This allows us to set the most sensitive limits on the A ' couplings to photons for masses m(A ') less than or similar to 0.35 GeV, and to exclude scalar and Majorana dark matter with the chi – A ' coupling alpha(D) <= 0.1 for masses 0.001 less than or similar to m(chi) less than or similar to 0.1 GeV and 3m(chi) <= m(A ').

Title (down) Search for Lepton-Universality Violation in B+ -> K(+)l(+)l(-) Decays Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 122 Issue 19 Pages 191801 - 13pp
  Keywords
Abstract A measurement of the ratio of branching fractions of the decays B+ -> K+mu(+)mu(-) and B+ -> K(+)e(+)e(-) is presented. The proton-proton collision data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb(-1) recorded with the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. For the dilepton mass-squared range 1.1 < q(2) < 6.0 GeV2/c(4) the ratio of branching fractions is measured to be R-K = 0.846(-0.054-0.014)(+0.060+0.016), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This is the most precise measurement of R-K to date and is compatible with the standard model at the level of 2.5 standard deviations.

Title (down) Search for Lepton-Flavor Violation in Z-Boson Decays with tau Leptons with the ATLAS Detector Type Journal Article
Year 2021 Publication Physical Review Letters Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. Lett.
  Volume 127 Issue 27 Pages 271801 - 20pp
  Keywords
Abstract A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z -> e tau and Z -> μtau decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb(-1) of Run 2 pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the tau lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying tau leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z -> l tau decays. The Z -> l tau branching fractions are constrained in this analysis to B(Z -> e tau) < 7.0 x 10(-6) and B (Z -> μtau) < 7.2 x 10(-6) at 95% confidence level. The combination with the previously published analyses sets the strongest constraints to date: B(Z -> e tau) < 5.0 x 10(-6) and B(Z -> μtau) < 6.5 x 10(-6) at 95% confidence level.
