Abstract: A search for Higgs boson production in association with a W or Z boson, in the H -> WW* decay channel, is performed with a data sample collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies root s = 7 TeV and 8TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 4.5 fb(-1) and 20.3 fb(-1), respectively. The W H production mode is studied in two-lepton and three-lepton final states, while twolepton and four-lepton final states are used to search for the ZH production mode. The observed significance, for the combined WH and ZH production, is 2.5 standard deviations while a significance of 0.9 standard deviations is expected in the Standard Model Higgs boson hypothesis. The ratio of the combined W H and Z H signal yield to the Standard Model expectation, mu(VH), is found to be mu(VH) = 3.0(-1.1)(+1.3)(stat.)(-0.7)(+1.0) (sys.) for the Higgs boson mass of 125.36 GeV. The WH and ZH production modes are also combined with the gluon fusion and vector boson fusion production modes studied in the H -> WW* -> l nu l nu decay channel, resulting in an overall observed significance of 6.5 standard deviations and μF-gg+VBF+VH = 1.16(-0.15)(+0.16)(stat.)(-0.15)(+0.18)(sys.). The results are interpreted in terms of scaling factors of the Higgs boson couplings to vector bosons (kappa(V)) and fermions (kappa(F)); the combined results are: vertical bar kappa(V)vertical bar = 1.06(-0.10)(+0.10), vertical bar kappa(F)vertical bar = 0.85(-0.20)(+0.26)

Abstract: With the historic discovery of the Higgs boson our picutre of particle physics would have been complete were it nor for the neutrino sector and cosmology. I briefly discuss the role of neutrino masses and mixing upon gauge coupling unification, electroweak breaking and the flavor sector. Time is ripe for new discoveries such as leptonic CP violation, charged lepton flavor violation and neutrinoless double beta decay. Neutrinos could also play a role is elucidating the nature of dark matter and cosmic inflation.

Abstract: We study the interaction of rho, D* and (D) over bar* with spins aligned using the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations. We select a cluster of D*(D) over bar*, which is found to be bound in I = 0 and can be associated to the X(3915), and let the rho meson orbit around the D* and (D) over bar*. In this case we find an I = 1 state with mass around 4340 MeV and narrow width of about 50MeV. We also investigate the case with a cluster of rho D* and let the (D) over bar * orbit around the system of the two states. The rho D* cluster is also found to bind and leads to the D-2*(2460) state. The addition of the extra (D) over bar* produces further binding and we find, with admitted uncertainties, a state of I = 0 around 4000MeV, and a less bound narrow state with I = 1 around 4200 MeV.

Abstract: In the present work, we use three-body interaction formalism to investigate the K-multi-rho interactions. First, we reproduce the resonances f(2)(1270) and K-1(1270) in the rho rho and rho K two-body interactions, respectively, as the clusters of the fixed-center approximation. Then, we study the three-body K-rho rho(f(2)) and rho-rho K(K-1) interactions with the fixed-center approximation of the Faddeev equations. Furthermore, we extrapolate the formalism to study the four-body, five-body, and six-body systems containing one K meson and multiple rho mesons. In our research, without introducing any free parameters, we generate the K-2(1770) state in the three-body interaction with the mass of 1707 MeV and a width about 113 MeV, which are consistent with the experiments. We also find a clear resonant structure in our results of the five-body interaction, with a mass 2505 MeV and a width about 32 MeV or more, which is associated with the K-4(2500) state, where we obtain consistent results with the experimental findings. Furthermore, we predict some new states in the other many-body interactions, K-3(2080), K-5(2670) (isospin I = 1/2), and K-4(2640) (isospin I = 3/2), with uncertainties.

Abstract: Background: It has been recently shown that some Skyrme functionals can lead to nonconverging results in the calculation of some properties of atomic nuclei. A previous study has pointed out a possible link between these convergence problems and the appearance of finite-size instabilities in symmetric nuclear matter (SNM) around saturation density. Purpose: We show that the finite-size instabilities not only affect the ground-state properties of atomic nuclei, but they can also influence the calculations of vibrational excited states in finite nuclei. Method: We perform systematic fully-self consistent random phase approximation (RPA) calculations in spherical doubly magic nuclei. We employ several Skyrme functionals and vary the isoscalar and isovector coupling constants of the time-odd term s . Delta s. We determine critical values of these coupling constants beyond which the RPA calculations do not converge because the RPA stability matrix becomes nonpositive. Results: By comparing the RPA calculations of atomic nuclei with those performed for SNM we establish a correspondence between the critical densities in the infinite system and the critical coupling constants for which the RPA calculations do not converge. Conclusions: We find a quantitative stability criterion to detect finite-size instabilities related to the spin s . Delta s term of a functional. This criterion could be easily implemented in the standard fitting protocols to fix the coupling constants of the Skyrme functional.
