Title (down) Search for long-lived heavy charged particles using a ring imaging Cherenkov technique at LHCb Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 75 Issue 12 Pages 595 - 14pp
  Keywords
Abstract A search is performed for heavy long-lived charged particles using 3.0 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions collected at root s = 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. The search is mainly based on the response of the ring imaging Cherenkov detectors to distinguish the heavy, slow-moving particles from muons. No evidence is found for the production of such long-lived states. The results are expressed as limits on the Drell-Yan production of pairs of long-lived particles, with both particles in the LHCb pseudorapidity acceptance, 1.8 < eta < 4.9. The mass-dependent cross-section upper limits are in the range 2-4 fb (at 95 % CL) for masses between 14 and 309 GeV/c(2).

Title (down) Search for long-lived charginos based on a disappearing-track signature using 136 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2022 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 82 Issue 7 Pages 606 - 34pp
  Keywords
Abstract A search for long-lived charginos produced either directly or in the cascade decay of heavy prompt gluino states is presented. The search is based on proton- proton collision data collected at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV between 2015 and 2018 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 136 fb(-1). Long-lived charginos are characterised by a distinct signature of a short and then disappearing track, and are reconstructed using at least four measurements in the ATLAS pixel detector, with no subsequent measurements in the silicon-microstrip tracking volume nor any associated energy deposits in the calorimeter. The final state is complemented by a large missing transverse-momentum requirement for triggering purposes and at least one high-transversemomentum jet. No excess above the expected backgrounds is observed. Exclusion limits are set at 95% confidence level on the masses of the chargino and gluino for different chargino lifetimes. Chargino masses up to 660 (210) GeV are excluded in scenarios where the chargino is a pure wino (higgsino). For charginos produced during the cascade decay of a heavy gluino, gluinos with masses below 2.1 TeV are excluded for a chargino mass of 300 GeV and a lifetime of 0.2 ns.

Title (down) Search for light scalar top-quark pair production in final states with two leptons with the ATLAS detector in root s=7 TeV proton-proton collisions Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 72 Issue 11 Pages 2237 - 20pp
  Keywords
Abstract A search is presented for the pair production of light scalar top quarks in root s = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. This analysis uses the full data sample collected during 2011 running that corresponds to a total integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1). Light scalar top quarks are searched for in events with two opposite-sign leptons (e, mu), large missing transverse momentum and at least one jet in the final state. No excess over Standard Model expectations is found, and the results are interpreted under the assumption that the light scalar top decays to a b-quark in addition to an on-shell chargino whose decay occurs through a virtual W boson. If the chargino mass is 106 GeV, light scalar top-quark masses up to 130 GeV are excluded for neutralino masses below 70 GeV.

Title (down) Search for light long-lived neutral particles produced in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV and decaying into collimated leptons or light hadrons with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 80 Issue 5 Pages 450 - 29pp
  Keywords
Abstract Several models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict the existence of dark photons, light neutral particles decaying into collimated leptons or light hadrons. This paper presents a search for long-lived dark photons produced from the decay of a Higgs boson or a heavy scalar boson and decaying into displaced collimated Standard Model fermions. The search uses data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb-1 collected in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV recorded in 2015-2016 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The observed number of events is consistent with the expected background, and limits on the production cross section times branching fraction as a function of the proper decay length of the dark photon are reported. A cross section times branching fraction above 4 pb is excluded for a Higgs boson decaying into two dark photons for dark-photon decay lengths between 1.5 mm and 307 mm.

Title (down) Search for lepton-flavour-violating decays of the Higgs and Z bosons with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 77 Issue 2 Pages 70 - 31pp
  Keywords
Abstract Direct searches for lepton flavour violation in decays of the Higgs and Z bosons with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. The following three decays are considered: H -> e tau, H -> μtau, and Z -> μtau. The searches are based on the data sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the ATLAS detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1) at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 8 TeV. No significant excess is observed, and upper limits on the lepton-flavour-violating branching ratios are set at the 95% confidence level: Br(H -> e tau) < 1.04%, Br(H -> μtau) < 1.43%, and Br(Z -> μtau) < 1.69 x 10(-5).
