Abstract: A search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with at least two hadronically decaying tau leptons is presented. The analysis uses a dataset of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant deviation from the expected Standard Model background is observed. Limits are derived in scenarios of pair production and of and production in simplified models where the neutralinos and charginos decay solely via intermediate left-handed staus and tau sneutrinos, and the mass of the state is set to be halfway between the masses of the and the (chi) over tilde (0.)(1) . Chargino masses up to 630 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level in the scenario of direct production of for a massless (chi) over tilde (0.)(1). Common and masses up to 760 GeV are excluded in the case of production of and assuming a massless . Exclusion limits for additional benchmark scenarios with large and small mass-splitting between the and the are also studied by varying the mass between the masses of the and the (chi) over tilde (0.)(1)

Abstract: A search for the dimuon decay of the Higgs boson was performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1) collected with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess is observed above the expected background. The observed (expected) upper limit on the cross section times branching ratio is 3.0 (3.1) times the Standard Model prediction at the 95% confidence level for a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV. When combined with the pp collision data at root s = 7 TeV and root s = 8 TeV, the observed (expected) upper limit is 2.8 (2.9) times the Standard Model prediction.

Abstract: A direct search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a pair of charm quarks is presented. Associated production of the Higgs and Z bosons, in the decay mode ZH -> l(+)l(-) cc is studied. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC is used. The H -> cc signature is identified using charm-tagging algorithms. The observed (expected) upper limit on sigma(pp -> ZH) x B(H -> cc) is 2.7 (3.9(-2.1)(+2.1) ) pb at the 95% confidence level for a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, while the standard model value is 26 fb.

Abstract: A search for the decay of the Higgs boson to a Z boson and a light, pseudoscalar particle, a, decaying respectively to two leptons and to two photons is reported. The search uses the full LHC Run 2 proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV, corresponding to 139 fb-1 collected by the ATLAS detector. This is one of the first searches for this specific decay mode of the Higgs boson, and it probes unexplored parameter space in models with axion-like particles (ALPs) and extended scalar sectors. The mass of the a particle is assumed to be in the range 0.1-33 GeV. The data are analysed in two categories: a merged category where the photons from the a decay are reconstructed in the ATLAS calorimeter as a single cluster, and a resolved category in which two separate photons are detected. The main background processes are from Standard Model Z boson production in association with photons or jets. The data are in agreement with the background predictions, and upper limits on the branching ratio of the Higgs boson decay to Za times the branching ratio a -> yy are derived at the 95% confidence level and they range from 0.08% to 2% depending on the mass of the a particle. The results are also interpreted in the context of ALP models.

Abstract: A blind analysis searching for the decay B-s(0) -> mu(+)mu(-) has been performed using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. With an integrated luminosity of 2.4 fb(-1) no excess of events over the background expectation is found and an upper limit is set on the branching fraction BR(B-s(0) -> mu(+)mu(-)) <2.2(1.9) x 10(-8) at 95% (90%) confidence level.

Abstract: A sample of 1.69 x 10(7) fully reconstructed pi(0) -> gamma e(+)e(-) decay candidates collected by the NA48/2 experiment at CERN in 2003-2004 is analyzed to search for the dark photon (A') production in the pi(0) -> gamma A' decay followed by the prompt A' -> e(+)e(-) decay. No signal is observed, and an exclusion region in the plane of the dark photon mass m(A') and mixing parameter epsilon(2) is established. The obtained upper limits on epsilon(2) are more stringent than the previous limits in the mass range 9 MeV/c(2) < m(A') < 70 MeV/c(2). The NA48/2 sensitivity to the dark photon production in the K-+/- -> pi(+/-)A' decay is also evaluated.

Abstract: A search for the charged-lepton-flavor-violating process Z -> e μis presented, using 139 fb(-1) of root s = 13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. An excess in the e μinvariant mass spectrum near the Z boson mass would be a striking signature of new physics. No excess is observed, and an upper limit B(Z -> e mu) < 2.62 x 10(-7) is placed on the branching fraction at 95% confidence level, which is the most stringent limit to date.

Abstract: A search for the b (b) over bar decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson is performed with the ATLAS experiment using the full dataset recorded at the LHC in Run 1. The integrated luminosities used are 4.7 and 20.3 fb(-1) from pp collisions at root s = 7 and 8 TeV, respectively. The processes considered are associated (WIZ)H production, where W -> e nu/mu nu, Z -> ee/mu mu, and Z -> nu nu. The observed (expected) deviation from the backgroundonly hypothesis corresponds to a significance of 1.4 (2.6) standard deviations and the ratio of the measured signal yield to the Standard Model expectation is found to be μ= 0.52 +/- 0.32 (stat.) +/- 0.24 (syst.) for a Higgs boson mass of 125.36 GeV. The analysis procedure is validated by a measurement of the yield of (W/Z)Z production with Z -> b (b) over bar in the same final states as for the Higgs boson search, from which the ratio of the observed signal yield to the Standard Model expectation is found to be 0.74 +/- 0.09 (stat.) +/- 0.14 (syst.).

Abstract: A search for the associated production of the Higgs boson with a top quark pair is performed in multilepton final states using 20.3 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at root s = 8 TeVat the Large Hadron Collider. Five final states, targeting the decays H -> WW*, tau tau, and ZZ*, are examined for the presence of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson: two same-charge light leptons (e or mu) without a hadronically decaying tau lepton; three light leptons; two same-charge light leptons with a hadronically decaying tau lepton; four light leptons; and one light lepton and two hadronically decaying tau leptons. No significant excess of events is observed above the background expectation. The best fit for the t (t) over barH production cross section, assuming a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, is 2.1(-1.2)(+1.4) times the SM expectation, and the observed (expected) upper limit at the 95% confidence level is 4.7 (2.4) times the SM rate. The p-value for compatibility with the background-only hypothesis is 1.8s; the expectation in the presence of a Standard Model signal is 0.9 sigma.

Abstract: A search for physics beyond the Standard Model, in final states with at least one high transverse momentum charged lepton (electron or muon) and two additional high transverse momentum leptons or jets, is performed using 3.2 fb (1) of proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015 at root s = 13 TeV. The upper end of the distribution of the scalar sum of the transverse momenta of leptons and jets is sensitive to the production of high-mass objects. No excess of events beyond Standard Model predictions is observed. Exclusion limits are set for models of microscopic black holes with two to six extra dimensions.
