Abstract: Asearch for the associated production of a heavy resonance with a top-quark or a top-antitop-quark pair, and decaying into a t (t) over bar pair is presented. The search uses the vdata recorded by the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider during the years 2015-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). Events containing exactly one electron ormuon are selected. The two hadronically decaying top quarks from the resonance decay are reconstructed using jets clustered with a large radius parameter of R = 1. The invariant mass spectrum of the two top quark candidates is used to search for a resonance signal in the range of 1.0 TeV to 3.2 TeV. The presence of a signal is examined using an approach with minimal model dependence followed by a model-dependent interpretation. No significant excess is observed over the background expectation. Upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio at 95% confidence level are provided for a heavy Z' boson based on a simplified model, for Z' mass between 1.0 TeV and 3.0 TeV. The observed (expected) limits range from 21 (14) fb to 119 (86) fb depending on the choice of model parameters.

Abstract: This paper presents a search for direct top squark pair production in events with missing transverse momentum plus either a pair of jets consistent with Standard Model Higgs boson decay into b-quarks or a same-flavour opposite-sign dilepton pair with an invariant mass consistent with a Z boson. The analysis is performed using the proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector during the LHC Run-2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). No excess is observed in the data above the Standard Model predictions. The results are interpreted in simplified models featuring direct production of pairs of either the lighter top squark ((t) over tilde (1)) or the heavier top squark ((t) over tilde (2)), excluding at 95% confidence level (t) over tilde (1) and (t) over tilde2 masses up to about 1220 and 875 GeV, respectively.

Abstract: A search for direct pair production of top squarks in final states with two tau leptons, b-jets, and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1) recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015 and 2016. Two exclusive channels with either two hadronically decaying tau leptons or one hadronically and one leptonically decaying tau lepton are considered. No significant deviation from the Standard Model predictions is observed in the data. The analysis results are interpreted in terms of model-independent limits and used to derive exclusion limits on the masses of the top squark (t) over tilde (1) and the tau slepton (tau) over tilde (1) in a simplified model of supersymmetry with a nearly massless gravitino. In this model, masses up to m((t) over tilde (1)) = 1.16 TeV and m ((tau) over tilde (1)) = 1.00 TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level.

Abstract: A search for time-dependent violation of the charge-parity symmetry in D-0 -> K+K- and D-0 -> pi(+)pi(-) decays is performed at the LHCb experiment using proton-proton collision data recorded from 2015 to 2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1). The D-0 meson is required to originate from a D*(2010)(+) -> D-0 pi(+) decay, such that its flavor at production is identified by the charge of the accompanying pion. The slope of the time-dependent asymmetry of the decay rates of D-0 and (D) over bar (0) mesons into the final states under consideration is measured to be Delta YK+K- = (-2.3 +/- 1.5 +/- 0.3) x 10(-40), Delta Y pi(+)pi(-) = (-4.0 +/- 2.8 +/- 0.4) x 10(-4), where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are compatible with the conservation of the charge-parity symmetry at the level of 2 standard deviations and improve the precision by nearly a factor of 2.

Abstract: A search for vector-like leptons in multilepton (two, three, or four-or-more electrons plus muons) final states with zero or more hadronic tau-lepton decays is presented. The search is performed using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. To maximize the separation of signal and background, a machine-learning classifier is used. No excess of events is observed beyond the Standard Model expectation. Using a doublet vector-like lepton model, vector-like leptons coupling to third-generation Standard Model leptons are excluded in the mass range from 130 GeV to 900 GeV at the 95% confidence level, while the highest excluded mass is expected to be 970 GeV.

Abstract: The y decay of the elusive narrow, near-threshold proton resonance in 11 B was investigated at Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro (INFN) in a particle-y coincidence experiment, using the 6 Li( 6 Li,py) fusion-evaporation reaction and the GALILEO-GALTRACE setup. No clear signature was found for a possible E1 decay to the 1/2-1, – 1 , first-excited state of 11 B, predicted by the Shell Model Embedded in the Continuum (SMEC) with a branching of 0.98+167 +167 -69 x 10-3 -3 with respect to the dominant particle-decaying modes. The statistical analysis of the y-ray spectrum provided an average upper limit of 2.37 x 10-3 -3 for this y-ray branching, with a global significance of 5 sigma. On the other hand, by imposing a global confidence level of 3 sigma, a significant excess of counts was observed for Ey y = 9300(20) keV, corresponding to a resonance energy of 11429(20) keV (namely 200(20) keV above the proton separation energy of 11 B) and a y-ray branching of 1.12(35) x10-3. -3 . This result is compatible with the SMEC calculations, potentially supporting the existence of a near-threshold proton resonance in 11 B.

Abstract: This letter presents a search for narrow, high-mass resonances in the Zy final state with the Z boson decaying into a pair of electrons or muons. The root s = 13 TeV pp collision data were recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and have an integrated luminosity of 140 fb-1. The data are found to be in agreement with the Standard Model background expectation. Upper limits are set on the resonance production cross section times the decay branching ratio into Zy. For spin-0 resonances produced via gluon-gluon fusion, the observed limits at 95% confidence level vary between 65.5 fb and 0.6 fb, while for spin-2 resonances produced via gluon-gluon fusion (or quark-antiquark initial states) limits vary between 77.4 (76.1) fb and 0.6 (0.5) fb, for the mass range from 220 GeV to 3400 GeV.

Abstract: A search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with a top-quark pair, t(t)overbar H, is presented. The analysis uses 36.1 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015 and 2016. The search targets the H -> b(b)overbar decay mode. The selected events contain either one or two electrons or muons from the top-quark decays, and are then categorized according to the number of jets and how likely these are to contain b-hadrons. Multivariate techniques are used to discriminate between signal and background events, the latter being dominated by ft + jets production. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, the ratio of the measured t(t)overbarH signal cross-section to the standard model expectation is found to be μ= 0.84(-0.61)(+0.64). A value of μgreater than 2.0 is excluded at 95% confidence level (C.L.) while the expected upper limit is μ< 1.2 in the absence of a t(t)overbar H signal.

Abstract: A Sigma* resonance with spin-parity J(P) = 1/2(-) and mass in the vicinity of the (K) over barN threshold has been predicted in the unitary chiral approach and inferred from the analysis of CLAS data on the gamma p -> K+pi(0)Sigma(0) reaction. In this work, based on the dominant Cabibbo favored weak decay mechanism, we perform a study of Lambda(+)(c) -> pi(+)pi(0)Sigma* with the possible Sigma* state decaying into pi(-)Sigma(+) through a triangle diagram. This process is initiated by Lambda(+)(c) -> pi(+)(K) over bar *N, then the (K) over bar* decays into (K) over bar pi and (K) over barN produce the Sigma* through a triangle loop containing (K) over bar *N (K) over bar which develops a triangle singularity. We show that the pi(-)Sigma(+) state is generated from final state interaction of (K) over barN in S-wave and isospin I = 1, and the Lambda(+)(c) -> pi(+)pi(0)pi(-)Sigma(+) decay can be used to study the possible Sigma* state around the (K) over barN threshold. The proposed decay mechanism can provide valuable information on the nature of the Sigma* resonance and can in principle be tested by facilities such as LHCb, BelleII and BESIII.

Abstract: A search for the rare hadronic decay B-s(0) -> p (p) over bar is performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb(-1). No evidence of the decay is found and an upper limit on its branching fraction is set at B(B-s(0) -> p (p) over bar) < 4.4(5.1)x 10(-9) at 90% (95%) confidence level; this is currently the world's best upper limit. The decay mode B-0 -> p<(p)over bar> is measured with very large significance, confirming the first observation by the LHCb experiment in 2017. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B-0 -> p (p) over bar) = (1.27 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.04) 10(-8), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the external branching fraction of the normalization channel B-0 -> K+pi(-). The combination of the two LHCb measurements of the B-0 -> p (p) over bar branching fraction yields B(B-0 -> p (p) over bar) (1.27 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.03) x 10(-8).
