Abstract |
To study a flavour model with a non-minimal Higgs sector one must first define the symmetries of the fields; then identify what types of vacua exist and how they may break the symmetries; and finally determine whether the remnant symmetries are compatible with the experimental data. Here we address all these issues in the context of flavour models with any number of Higgs doublets. We stress the importance of analysing the Higgs vacuum expectation values that are pseudo-invariant under the generators of all subgroups. It is shown that the only way of obtaining a physical CKM mixing matrix and, simultaneously, non-degenerate and non-zero quark masses is requiring the vacuum expectation values of the Higgs fields to break completely the full flavour group, except possibly for some symmetry belonging to baryon number. The application of this technique to some illustrative examples, such as the flavour groups Delta (27), A(4) and S-3, is also presented. |

Abstract |
This paper proposes to exploit gravitational lensing effects to improve the sensitivity of neutrino telescopes to the intrinsic neutrino emission of distant blazar populations. This strategy is illustrated with a search for cosmic neutrinos in the direction of four distant and gravitationally lensed Flat-Spectrum Radio Quasars. The magnification factor is estimated for each system assuming a singular isothermal profile for the lens. Based on data collected from 2007 to 2012 by the ANTARES neutrino telescope, the strongest constraint is obtained from the lensed quasar B0218+357, providing a limit on the total neutrino luminosity of this source of 1.08 x 10(46) erg s(-1) This limit is about one order of magnitude lower than those previously obtained in the ANTARES standard point source searches with non-lensed Flat-Spectrum Radio Quasars. |

Abstract |
The aim of this work is to study the impact of the inclusion of the recently measured beta decay properties of the Tc-102,Tc-104,Tc-105,Tc-106,Tc-107, Mo-105, and Nb-101 nuclei in the calculation of the antineutrino (anti-nu) energy spectra arising after the fissions of the four main fissile isotopes U-235,U-238, and (PU)-P-239,241 in PWRs. These beta feeding probabilities, measured using the Total Absorption Technique (TAS) at the JYFL facility of Jyvaskyla, have been found to play a major role in the gamma component of the decay heat for Pu-239 in the 4-3000 s range. Following the fission product summation method, the calculation was performed using the MCNP Utility Reactor Evolution code (MURE) coupled to the experimental spectra built from beta decay properties of the fission products taken from evaluated databases. These latest TAS data are found to have a significant effect on the Pu isotope energy spectra and on the spectrum of U-238 showing the importance of their measurement for a better assessment of the reactor anti-nu energy spectrum, as well as importance for fundamental neutrino physics experiments and neutrino applied physics. |

Abstract |
The differential Recoil Distance Doppler Shift (RDDS) method after multinucleon transfer (MNT) reactions to measure lifetimes of excited states in neutron-rich nuclei requires the use of a thick energy degrader for the recoiling ejectiles that are then detected in a spectrometer. This type of measurements greatly benefits from the use of the new generation segmented gamma-ray detectors, such as the AGATA demonstrator which offers unprecedented energy and angular resolutions. In order to make an optimized choice of the material and the thickness of the degrader for lifetime measurements using the RODS method after MNT, an experiment has been performed with the AGATA demonstrator. Counting rate measurements for different degraders are presented. |

Abstract |
We study the processes e+e- -> K0S K0L gamma, K0S K0L pi+ pi- gamma, K0S K0S pi+ pi- gamma, and K0S K0S K+ K- gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state, providing cross section measurements for the hadronic states over a continuum of center-of-mass energies. The results are based on 469 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We observe the phi(1020) resonance in the K0S K0L final state and measure the product of its electronic width and branching fraction with about 3% uncertainty. We present a measurement of the e+e- -> K0S K0L cross section in the energy range from 1.06 to 2.2 GeV and observe the production of a resonance at 1.67 GeV. We present the first measurements of the e+e- -> K0S K0L pi+ pi-, K0S K0S pi+ pi-, and K0S K0S K+ K- cross sections and study the intermediate resonance structures. We obtain the first observations of J/Psi decay to the K0S K0L pi+ pi-, K0S K0S pi+ pi-, and K0S K0S K+ K- final states. |
