Abstract: We study the processes gamma gamma -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) and gamma gamma -> K+K-pi(0) using a data sample of 519 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Upsilon(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We observe eta(c) decays to both final states and perform Dalitz plot analyses using a model-independent partial wave analysis technique. This allows a model-independent measurement of the mass-dependence of the I = 1/2 K pi S-wave amplitude and phase. A comparison between the present measurement and those from previous experiments indicates similar behavior for the phase up to a mass of 1.5 GeV/c(2). In contrast, the amplitudes show very marked differences. The data require the presence of a new a(0)(1950) resonance with parameters m = 1931 +/- 14 +/- 22 MeV/c(2) and Gamma = 271 +/- 22 +/- 29 MeV.

Abstract: Based on the full BABAR data sample of 466.5 million B (B) over bar pairs, we present measurements of the electron spectrum from semileptonic B meson decays. We fit the inclusive electron spectrum to distinguish Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) suppressed B -> X(u)ev decays from the CKM-favored B -> X(u)ev decays, and from various other backgrounds, and determine the total semileptonic branching fraction B(B -> X(u)ev) = (10.34 +/- 0.04(stat) +/- 0.26(syst))%, averaged over B-+/- and B-0 mesons. We determine the spectrum and branching fraction for charmless B -> X(u)ev decays and extract the CKM element vertical bar V-ub vertical bar, by relying on four different QCD calculations based on the heavy quark expansion. While experimentally, the electron momentum region above 2.1 GeV/c is favored, because the background is relatively low, the uncertainties for the theoretical predictions are largest in the region near the kinematic endpoint. Detailed studies to assess the impact of these four predictions on the measurements of the electron spectrum, the branching fraction, and the extraction of the CKM matrix element vertical bar V-ub vertical bar are presented, with the lower limit on the electron momentum varied from 0.8 GeV/c to the kinematic endpoint. We determine V-ub vertical bar using each of these different calculations and find, vertical bar V-ub vertical bar = (3.794 +/- 0.107(exp) (+0.292)(-0.219) (SF) (+0.078)(-0.068)theory) x 10(-3) (De Fazio and Neubert), (4.563 +/- 0.126(exp) (+0.230)(+0.162)(-0.208)(-0.163)theory) x 10(-3) (Bosch, Lange, Neubert, and Paz), (3.959 +/- 0.104(exp -0.154)(SF-0.079)(+0.164)(+0.042) theory )x 10(-3) (Gambino, Giordano, Ossola, and Uraltsev), (3.848 +/- 0.108(exp -0.070)(theory)(+0.084)) x 10(-3) (dressed gluon exponentiation), where the stated uncertainties refer to the experimental uncertainties of the partial branching fraction measurement, the shape function parameters, and the theoretical calculations.

Abstract: The cross-section for inelastic proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is measured with the LHCb detector. The fiducial cross-section for inelastic interactions producing at least one prompt long-lived charged particle with momentum p > 2 GeV/c in the pseudorapidity range 2 < eta < 5 is determined to be sigma(acc) = 62.2 +/- 0.2 +/- 2.5 mb. The first uncertainty is the intrinsic systematic uncertainty of the measurement, the second is due to the uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The statistical uncertainty is negligible. Extrapolation to full phase space yields the total inelastic proton-proton cross-section sigma(inel) = 75.4 +/- 3.0 +/- 4.5 mb, where the first uncertainty is experimental and the second due to the extrapolation. An updated value of the inelastic cross-section at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is also reported.

Abstract: The cross-section for inelastic proton-proton collisions, with at least one prompt long-lived charged particle of transverse momentum P-T > 0.2GeV/c in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 < eta < 4.5, is measured by the 1:11Cb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV. The cross-section in this kinematic range is determined to be sigma(accc)(inel) = 55.0 +/- 2.4 nib with an experimental uncertainty that is dominated by systematic contributions. Extrapolation to the full phase space, using PYTHIA 6, yields sigma(inel) = 66.9 +/- 2.9 +/- 4.4 nib, where the first uncertainty is experimental and the second is due to the extrapolation.

Abstract: The production cross-section of J/psi pairs is measured using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 279 +/- 11 pb(-1). The measurement is performed for J/psi mesons with a transverse momentum of less than 10 GeV/c in the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5. The production cross-section is measured to be 15.2 +/- 1.0 +/- 0.9 nb. The first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. The differential cross-sections as functions of several kinematic variables of the J/psi pair are measured and compared to theoretical predictions.

Abstract: We report on a measurement of the Lambda(+)(c) to D-0 production ratio in peripheral PbPb collisions at root sNN = 5.02TeV with the LHCb detector in the forward rapidity region 2 < y < 4.5. The Lambda(+)(c) (D-0) hadrons are reconstructed via the decay channel Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+) (D-0 -> K- pi(+)) for 2 < pT < 8 GeV/ c and in the centrality range of about 65-90%. The results show no significant dependence on pT, y or the mean number of participating nucleons. They are also consistent with similar measurements obtained by the LHCb collaboration in pPb and Pbp collisions at root sNN = 5.02TeV. The data agree well with predictions from PYTHIA in pp collisions at root s = 5TeV but are in tension with predictions of the Statistical Hadronization model.

Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi Lambda angular distribution and the transverse production polarisation of Lambda(0)(b) baryons in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13TeV. The measurements are performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb(-1), collected with the LHCb experiment. The polarisation is determined in a fiducial region of Lambda(0)(b) transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of 1 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c and 2 < eta < 5, respectively. The data are consistent with Lambda(0)(b) baryons being produced unpolarised in this region. The parity-violating asymmetry parameter of the Lambda -> p pi(-) decay is also determined from the data and its value is found to be consistent with a recent measurement by the BES III collaboration.

Abstract: The difference in total widths between the B-c(+) and B+ mesons is measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment in 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy proton-proton collisions at the LHC. Through the study of the time evolution of B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+) and B+ -> J/psi K+ decays, the width difference is measured to be Delta Gamma = Gamma(Bc+) – Gamma(Bc+) = 4.46 +/- 0.14 +/- 0.07 mm(-1) c, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The known lifetime of the B+ meson is used to convert this to a precise measurement of the B-c(+) clifetime, tau(Bc+) = 513.4 +/- 11.0 +/- 5.7 fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract: The first measurement of the lifetime of the doubly charmed baryon Xi(++)(cc) is presented, with the signal reconstructed in the final state Lambda K-+(c)-pi(+)pi(+). The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The Xi(++)(cc) lifetime is measured to be 0.256(-0.022)(+0.024) (stat) +/- 0.014(syst) ps.

Abstract: A measurement of the lifetimes of the Omega(0)(c) and Xi(0)(c) baryons is reported using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment. The Omega(0)(c) and Xi(0)(c) baryons are produced directly from proton interactions and reconstructed in the pK(-)K(-)pi(+) final state. The Omega(0)(c) lifetime is measured to be 276.5 +/- 13.4 +/- 4.4 +/- 0.7 fs, and the Xi(0)(c) lifetime is measured to be 148.0 +/- 2.3 +/- 2.2 +/- 0.2 fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third due to the uncertainty on the D-0 lifetime. These results confirm previous LHCb measurements based on semileptonic beauty-hadron decays, which disagree with earlier results of a four times shorter Omega(c)0 lifetime, and provide the single most precise measurement of the Omega(0 )(c)lifetime.
