Title (up) Renormalization group improved bottom mass from (gamma) sum rules at NNLL order Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 10 Issue 10 Pages 188 - 30pp
Keywords Heavy Quark Physics; Sum Rules; QCD
Abstract We determine the bottom quark mass from non-relativistic large-n gamma sum rules with renormalization group improvement at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic order. We compute the theoretical moments within the vNRQCD formalism and account for the summation of powers of the Coulomb singularities as well as of logarithmic terms proportional to powers of alpha(s) ln(n). The renormalization group improvement leads to a substantial stabilization of the theoretical moments compared to previous fixed-order analyses, which did not account for the systematic treatment of the logarithmic alpha(s) ln(n) terms, and allows for reliable single moment fits. For the current world average of the strong coupling (alpha(s) (M-Z) = 0.1183 +/- 0.0010) we obtain M-b(1S) = 4.755 +/- 0.057(pert) +/- 0.009 alpha(s) +/- 0.003(exp) GeV for the bottom 1S mass and (m) over bar (b) ((m) over bar (b)) = 4.235 +/- 0.055(pert) +/- 0.003(exp) GeV for the bottom (MS) over bar mass, where we have quoted the perturbative error and the uncertainties from the strong coupling and the experimental data.

Title (up) Resonance chiral Lagrangian currents and tau decay Monte Carlo Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 86 Issue 11 Pages 113008 - 32pp
Keywords
Abstract In the present paper we describe the set of form factors for hadronic tau decays based on Resonance Chiral Theory. The technical implementation of the form factors in FORTRAN code is also explained. It is shown how it can be installed into the TAUOLA Monte Carlo program. Then it is rather easy to implement into software environments of not only Belle and BABAR collaborations but also for FORTRAN and C ++ applications of LHC. The description of the current for each tau decay mode is complemented with technical numerical tests. The set is ready for fits, paramxers to be used in fits are explained. Arrangements to work with the experimental data not requiring unfolding are prepared. Hadronic currents, ready for confrontation with the tau decay data, but not yet ready for the general use, cover more than 88% of hadronic tau decay width.

Title (up) Resonance neutron-capture cross sections of stable magnesium isotopes and their astrophysical implications Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review C Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. C
Volume 85 Issue 4 Pages 044615 - 15pp

Abstract We have measured the neutron capture cross sections of the stable magnesium isotopes Mg-24,Mg-25,Mg-26 in the energy range of interest to the s process using the neutron time-of-flight facility n_TOF at CERN. Capture events from a natural metal sample and from samples enriched in Mg-25 and Mg-26 were recorded using the total energy method based on (C6H6)-H-2 detectors. Neutron resonance parameters were extracted by a simultaneous resonance shape analysis of the present capture data and existing transmission data on a natural isotopic sample. Maxwellian-averaged capture cross sections for the three isotopes were calculated up to thermal energies of 100 keV and their impact on s-process analyses was investigated. At 30 keV the new values of the stellar cross section for Mg-24, Mg-25, and Mg-26 are 3.8 +/- 0.2 mb, 4.1 +/- 0.6 mb, and 0.14 +/- 0.01 mb, respectively.

Title (up) Review of Particle Physics Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Physical Review D Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. D
Volume 86 Issue 1 Pages 010001 - 1504pp
Keywords
Abstract This biennial Review summarizes much of particle physics. Using data from previous editions, plus 2658 new measurements from 644 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as Higgs bosons, heavy neutrinos, and supersymmetric particles. All the particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We also give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as the Standard Model, particle detectors, probability, and statistics. Among the 112 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised including those on Heavy-Quark and Soft-Collinear Effective Theory, Neutrino Cross Section Measurements, Monte Carlo Event Generators, Lattice QCD, Heavy Quarkonium Spectroscopy, Top Quark, Dark Matter, V-cb & V-ub, Quantum Chromodynamics, High-Energy Collider Parameters, Astrophysical Constants, Cosmological Parameters, and Dark Matter. A booklet is available containing the Summary Tables and abbreviated versions of some of the other sections of this full Review. All tables, listings, and reviews (and errata) are also available on the Particle Data Group website: http://pdg.lbl.gov.

Title (up) Revisiting the quantum scalar field in spherically symmetric quantum gravity Type Journal Article
Year 2012 Publication Classical and Quantum Gravity Abbreviated Journal Class. Quantum Gravity
Volume 29 Issue 14 Pages 145012 - 19pp
Keywords
Abstract We extend previous results in spherically symmetric gravitational systems coupled with a massless scalar field within the loop quantum gravity framework. As a starting point, we take the Schwarzschild spacetime. The results presented here rely on the uniform discretization method. We are able to minimize the associated discrete master constraint using a variational method. The trial state for the vacuum consists of a direct product of a Fock vacuum for the matter part and a Gaussian centered around the classical Schwarzschild solution. This paper follows the line of research presented by Gambini et al (2009 Class. Quantum Grav. 26 215011 (arXiv: 0906.1774v1)) and a comparison between their result and the one given in this work is made.
