Title (up) Measurement of the (eta c)(1S) production cross-section in proton-proton collisions via the decay (eta c)(1S) -> p(p)over-bar Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 75 Issue 7 Pages 311 - 12pp
  Keywords
Abstract The production of the eta(c)(1S) state in protonproton collisions is probed via its decay to the p (p) over bar final state with the LHCb detector, in the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5 and in the meson transverse-momentum range p(T) > 6.5GeV/c. The cross-section for prompt production of eta(c)(1S) mesons relative to the prompt J/psi cross-section is measured, for the first time, to be s sigma(eta c(1S))/sigma J/psi = 1.74 +/- 0.29 +/- 0.28 +/- 0.18(B) at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.7 fb(-1), and s sigma(eta c(1S))/sigma(J/psi) = 1.60 +/- 0.29 +/- 0.25 +/- 0.17(B) at root s = 8 TeV using 2.0 fb(-1). The uncertainties quoted are, in order, statistical, systematic, and that on the ratio of branching fractions of the (eta c)(1S) and J/psi decays to the p (p) over bar final state. In addition, the inclusive branching fraction of b-hadron decays into (eta c)(1S) mesons is measured, for the first time, to be B(b -> X-eta c) = (4.88 +/- 0.64 +/- 0.29 +/- 0.67(B)) x10(-3), where the third uncertainty includes also the uncertainty on the J/psi inclusive branching fraction from b-hadron decays. The difference between the J/psi and (eta c)(1S) meson masses is determined to be 114.7 +/- 1.5 +/- 0.1MeV/c(2).

Title (up) Measurement of the atmospheric nu (mu) energy spectrum from 100 GeV to 200 TeV with the ANTARES telescope Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 73 Issue 10 Pages 2606 - 12pp
  Keywords
Abstract Atmospheric neutrinos are produced during cascades initiated by the interaction of primary cosmic rays with air nuclei. In this paper, a measurement of the atmospheric energy spectrum in the energy range 0.1-200 TeV is presented, using data collected by the ANTARES underwater neutrino telescope from 2008 to 2011. Overall, the measured flux is similar to 25 % higher than predicted by the conventional neutrino flux, and compatible with the measurements reported in ice. The flux is compatible with a single power-law dependence with spectral index gamma (meas)=3.58 +/- 0.12. With the present statistics the contribution of prompt neutrinos cannot be established.

Title (up) Measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of charged particles produced in root s NN=5.02 TeV Pb+ Pb collisions with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 78 Issue 12 Pages 997 - 35pp
  Keywords
Abstract Measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy in lead-lead collisions at v s NN = 5.02 TeV are presented using a data sample corresponding to 0.49 nb -1 integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015. The recorded minimum-bias sample is enhanced by triggers for “ ultra-central” collisions, providing an opportunity to perform detailed study of flow harmonics in the regime where the initial state is dominated by fluctuations. The anisotropy of the charged-particle azimuthal angle distributions is characterized by the Fourier coefficients, v2-v7, which are measured using the two-particle correlation, scalar-product and event-plane methods. The goal of the paper is to provide measurements of the differential as well as integrated flow harmonics vn over wide ranges of the transverse momentum, 0.5 < pT < 60 GeV, the pseudorapidity, |.| < 2.5, and the collision centrality 0-80%. Results from different methods are compared and discussed in the context of previous and recent measurements in Pb+ Pb collisions at v s NN = 2.76TeV and 5.02TeV. In particular, the shape of the pT dependence of elliptic or triangular flow harmonics is observed to be very similar at different centralities after scaling the vn and pT values by constant factors over the centrality interval 0-60% and the pT range 0.5 < pT < 5 GeV.

Title (up) Measurement of the b(b)over-bar dijet cross section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 76 Issue 12 Pages 670 - 24pp
  Keywords
Abstract The dijet production cross section for jets containing a b-hadron (b-jets) has been measured in protonproton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.2 fb(-1). The cross section is measured for events with two identified b-jets with a transverse momentum pT > 20 GeV and a minimum separation in the eta-phi plane of Delta R = 0.4. At least one of the jets in the event is required to have p(T) > 270 GeV. The cross section is measured differentially as a function of dijet invariant mass, dijet transverse momentum, boost of the dijet system, and the rapidity difference, azimuthal angle and angular distance between the b-jets. The results are compared to different predictions of leading order and next-to-leading order perturbative quantum chromodynamics matrix elements supplemented with models for parton-showers and hadronization.

Year 2019 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 79 Issue 6 Pages 537 - 13pp
  Keywords
  Abstract The branching fraction and direct CP asymmetry of the decay B +. J/.. + are measured using protonproton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre- of- mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 3 fb – 1. The following results are obtained: ( B +. J/.. +) = ( 3.81 + 0.25 – 0.24 +/- 0.35) x 10 – 5, ACP ( B +. J/.. +) = – 0.045 + 0.056 – 0.057 +/- 0.008, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Both measurements are the most precise to date.
