Search for a Heavy Particle Decaying into an Electron and a Muon with the ATLAS Detector in sqrt(s)=7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC. Phys. Rev. Lett., 106(25), 251801–18pp.
Abstract: This Letter presents the first search for a heavy particle decaying into an e(+/-)mu(-/+) final state in root s = 7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC. The data were recorded by the ATLAS detector during 2010 and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1). No excess above the standard model background expectation is observed. Exclusions at 95% confidence level are placed on two representative models. In an R-parity violating supersymmetric model, tau sneutrinos with a mass below 0.75 TeV are excluded, assuming all R-parity violating couplings are zero except lambda(311)' = 0.11 and lambda(312) = 0.07. In a lepton flavor violating model, a Z'-like vector boson with masses of 0.70-1.00 TeV and corresponding cross sections times branching ratios of 0.175-0.183 pb is excluded. These results extend to higher mass R-parity violating sneutrinos and lepton flavor violating Z's than previous constraints from the Tevatron.

CDF Collaboration(Aaltonen, T. et al), & Cabrera, S. (2011). Search for a Heavy Toplike Quark in p p-bar Collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. Phys. Rev. Lett., 107(26), 261801–8pp.
Abstract: We present the results of a search for pair production of a heavy toplike (t') quark decaying to Wq final states using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb(-1) collected by the CDF II detector in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV. We perform parallel searches for t' -> Wb and t' -> Wq (where q is a generic down-type quark) in events containing a lepton and four or more jets. By performing a fit to the two-dimensional distribution of total transverse energy versus reconstructed t' quark mass, we set upper limits on the t'(t) over bar' production cross section and exclude a standard model fourth-generation t' quark decaying to Wb (Wq) with mass below 358 (340) GeV/c(2) at 95% C. Abstract: A search for a heavy standard model Higgs boson decaying via H -> ZZ -> l(+)l(-)v (v) over bar, where l = e, mu, is presented. It is based on proton-proton collision data at root s = 7 TeV, collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in the first half of 2011 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.04 fb(-1). The data are compared to the expected standard model backgrounds. The data and the background expectations are found to be in agreement and upper limits are placed on the Higgs boson production cross section over the entire mass window considered; in particular, the production of a standard model Higgs boson is excluded in the region 340 < m(H) < 450 GeV at the 95% confidence level.

CDF Collaboration(Aaltonen, T. et al), & Cabrera, S. (2011). Search for a Very Light CP-Odd Higgs Boson in Top Quark Decays from p p-bar Collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. Phys. Rev. Lett., 107(3), 031801–8pp.
Abstract: We present the results of a search for a very light CP-odd Higgs boson a(1)(0) originating from top quark decays t -> H(+/-)b -> W(+/-(*)) a(1)(0)b, and subsequently decaying into tau(+)tau(-). Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb(-1) collected by the CDF II detector in p (p) over bar collisions at 1.96 TeV, we perform a search for events containing a lepton, three or more jets, and an additional isolated track with transverse momentum in the range 3 to 20 GeV/c. Observed events are consistent with background sources, and 95% C.L. limits are set on the branching ratio of t -> H(+/-)b for various masses of H(+/-) and a(1)(0).

ATLAS Collaboration(Aad, G. et al), Amoros, G., Cabrera Urban, S., Castillo Gimenez, V., Costa, M. J., Escobar, C., et al. (2011). Search for an excess of events with an identical flavour lepton pair and significant missing transverse momentum in sqrt(s)=7 TeV proton-proton collisions with the ATLAS detector. European Physical Journal C, 71(7), 1647.
Abstract: Results are presented of a search for particles decaying into final states with significant missing transverse momentum and exactly two identical flavour leptons (e, mu) of opposite charge in root s = 7 TeV collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. This channel is particularly sensitive to supersymmetric particle cascade decays producing flavour correlated lepton pairs. Flavour uncorrelated backgrounds are subtracted using a sample of opposite flavour lepton pair events. Observation of an excess beyond Standard Model expectations following this subtraction procedure would offer one of the best routes to measuring the masses of supersymmetric particles. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1) no such excess is observed. Model-independent limits are set on the contribution to these final states from supersymmetry and are used to exclude regions of a phenomenological supersymmetric parameter space.

Abstract: We present a study of the decays B(+) -> DK(+) with D mesons reconstructed in the K(+)pi(-)pi(0) or K(-)pi(+)pi(0) final states, where D indicates a D(0) or a (D) over bar (0) meson. Using a sample of 474 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP- II asymmetric- energy e(+)e(-) collider at SLAC, we measure the ratios R +/- equivalent to Gamma(B(+)->[K(-/+)pi(+)pi(0)](D)K(+))/Gamma(B(+)->[K(+)pi(-/+)pi(0)](D) K(+)). We obtain R+ = (5(-10)(+12)(stat)(4)(2)(syst)) X 10(-3) and R(-) = (12(-10)(+12)(stat)(-5)(+3)(syst)) X 10(-3), from which we extract the upper limits at 90% probability: R(+) < 23 X 10(-3) and R- < 29 X 10(-3). Using these measurements, we obtain an upper limit for the ratio r(B) of the magnitudes of the b -> u and b -> c amplitudes r(B) < 0.13 at 90% probability.

Abstract: A search for contact interactions has been performed using dimuon events recorded with the ATLAS detector in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 42 pb(-1). No significant deviation from the standard model is observed in the dimuon mass spectrum, allowing the following 95% C. L. limits to be set on the energy scale of contact interactions: Lambda > 4: 9 TeV (4.5 TeV) for constructive (destructive) interference in the left-left isoscalar compositeness model. These limits are the most stringent to date for μμqq contact interactions.

Abstract: We report on a search for CP violation in the decay D-+/- -> K-S(0)pi(+/-) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb(-1) collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) storage rings. The CP- violating decay rate asymmetry A(CP) is determined to be (-0.44 +/- 0: 13(stat) +/- 0.10(syst))%, consistent with zero at 2.7 sigma and with the standard model prediction of (-0.332 +/- 0.006)%. This is currently the most precise measurement of this parameter.

Abstract: We search for CP violation in a sample of 20 000 Cabibbo-suppressed decays, D(+) -> K(+)K(S)(0)pi(+)pi(-), and 30 000 Cabibbo-favored decays, D(+) -> K(+)K(S)(0)pi(+)pi(-). We use 520 fb(-1) of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider operating at center of mass energies near 10.6 GeV. We search for CP violation in the difference between the T-odd asymmetries obtained using triple product correlations of the D(+)(D(s)(+)) and D(-)(D(s)(-)) decays, respectively. The T violation parameter values obtained are A(T)(D(+)) = (-12.0 +/- 10.0(stat) +/- 4.6(syst)) x 10(-3) and A(T)(D(s)(+)) = (-13.6 +/- 7.7(stat) +/- 3.4(syst)) x 10(-3), which are consistent with the standard model expectations.

Abstract: This Letter reports on a search for narrow high-mass resonances decaying into dilepton final states. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 1.08 (1.21) fb(-1) in the e(+)e(-) (mu(+)mu(-)) channel. No statistically significant excess above the standard model expectation is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% C. L. on the cross section times branching fraction of Z' resonances and Randall-Sundrum gravitons decaying into dileptons as a function of the resonance mass. A lower mass limit of 1.83 TeV on the sequential standard model Z' boson is set. A Randall-Sundrum graviton with coupling k/(M) over bar Pl = 0.1 is excluded at 95% C. L. for masses below 1.63 TeV.
