Title (up) Bulk fields localization on thick string-like brane in f(T) gravity Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication European Physical Journal Plus Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. Plus
  Volume 138 Issue 8 Pages 730 - 15pp

Abstract This paper aims to investigate the influence of torsion on bulk fields in the codimension two thick brane in f(T) modified teleparallel gravity. It is shown that the brane supports the localization of gauge field zero mode without an extra coupling. However, Kalb-Ramond and fermionic fields require a suitable coupling. Then, it is proposed a geometrical coupling based on results in 5D thick brane in modified teleparallel gravities. The Kalb-Ramond field is coupled to torsion scalar T through a gauge-invariant interaction. For the case of fermionic fields, we study the Dirac fermions and gravitino with a derivative geometrical coupling. For all of the fields, it obtained massive and resonant modes by employing the Schodinger-like approach.

Title (up) Cabibbo suppressed hyperon production off nuclei induced by antineutrinos Type Journal Article

Abstract In this work, we study the production of E and A hyperons in strangeness -changing AS = -1 chargedcurrent interactions of muon antineutrinos on nuclear targets. At the nucleon level, besides quasielastic scattering, we consider the inelastic mechanism in which a pion is produced alongside the hyperon. Its relevance for antineutrinos with energies below 2 GeV is conveyed in integrated and differential cross sections. We observe that the distributions on the angle between the hyperon and the final lepton are clearly different for quasielastic and inelastic processes. Hyperon final -state interactions, modeled with an intranuclear cascade, lead to a significant transfer from primary produced E's into final A's. They also cause considerable energy loss, which is apparent in hyperon energy distributions. We have investigated A production off 40Ar in the conditions of the recently reported MicroBooNE measurement. We find that the A pi contribution, dominated by E*(1385) excitation, accounts for about one third of the cross section.

Title (up) Calculation of kinetic parameters beta eff and L with modified open source Monte Carlo code OpenMC(TD) Type Journal Article
Year 2022 Publication Nuclear Engineering and Technology Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Eng. Technol.
  Volume 54 Issue 3 Pages 811-816
Keywords OpenMC; Monte Carlo; Kinetic parameters; Open source; Neutron generation time; Effective delayed neutron fraction
Abstract This work presents the methodology used to expand the capabilities of the Monte Carlo code OpenMC for the calculation of reactor kinetic parameters: effective delayed neutron fraction beff and neutron generation time L. The modified code, OpenMC(Time-Dependent) or OpenMC(TD), was then used to calculate the effective delayed neutron fraction by using the prompt method, while the neutron generation time was estimated using the pulsed method, fitting L to the decay of the neutron population. OpenMC(TD) is intended to serve as an alternative for the estimation of kinetic parameters when licensed codes are not available. The results obtained are compared to experimental data and MCNP calculated values for 18 benchmark configurations.

Title (up) Calibration and response function of a compact silicon-detector set-up for charged-particle spectroscopy using GEANT4 Type Journal Article

  Volume 57 Issue 2 Pages 49 - 9pp

Abstract A complete methodology for detector calibration and energy-loss correction in charged-particle spectroscopy is presented. This has been applied to a compact set-up of four silicon detectors used for beta-delayed particle spectroscopy. The characterisation of the set-up was carried out using GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulations and standard alpha-calibration sources. The response function of the system was in this way accurately determined to be used for spectral unfolding.

Title (up) Calibration of the light-flavour jet mistagging efficiency of the b-tagging algorithms with Z plus jets events using 139 fb-1 of ATLAS proton-proton collision data at √s=13 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2023 Publication European Physical Journal C Abbreviated Journal Eur. Phys. J. C
  Volume 83 Issue 8 Pages 728 - 30pp
  Keywords
Abstract The identification of b-jets, referred to as b-tagging, is an important part of many physics analyses in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider and an accurate calibration of its performance is essential for high-quality physics results. This publication describes the calibration of the light-flavour jet mistagging efficiency in a data sample of proton-proton collision events at root s = 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). The calibration is performed in a sample of Z bosons produced in association with jets. Due to the low mistagging efficiency for light-flavour jets, a method which uses modified versions of the b-tagging algorithms referred to as flip taggers is used in this work. A fit to the jet-flavour-sensitive secondary-vertex mass is performed to extract a scale factor from data, to correct the light-flavour jet mistagging efficiency in Monte Carlo simulations, while simultaneously correcting the b-jet efficiency. With this procedure, uncertainties coming from the modeling of jets from heavy-flavour hadrons are considerably lower than in previous calibrations of the mistagging scale factors, where they were dominant. The scale factors obtained in this calibration are consistent with unity within uncertainties.
