Abstract: The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory and the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) are two leading instruments in the ground-based very-high-energy gamma-ray domain. HAWC employs the water Cherenkov detection (WCD) technique, while H.E.S.S. is an array of Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs). The two facilities therefore differ in multiple aspects, including their observation strategy, the size of their field of view, and their angular resolution, leading to different analysis approaches. Until now, it has been unclear if the results of observations by both types of instruments are consistent: several of the recently discovered HAWC sources have been followed up by IACTs, resulting in a confirmed detection only in a minority of cases. With this paper, we go further and try to resolve the tensions between previous results by performing a new analysis of the H.E.S.S. Galactic plane survey data, applying an analysis technique comparable between H.E.S.S. and HAWC. Events above 1 TeV are selected for both data sets, the point-spread function of H.E.S.S. is broadened to approach that of HAWC, and a similar background estimation method is used. This is the first detailed comparison of the Galactic plane observed by both instruments. H.E.S.S. can confirm the gamma-ray emission of four HAWC sources among seven previously undetected by IACTs, while the three others have measured fluxes below the sensitivity of the H.E.S.S. data set. Remaining differences in the overall gamma-ray flux can be explained by the systematic uncertainties. Therefore, we confirm a consistent view of the gamma-ray sky between WCD and IACT techniques.

Abstract: Tests of lepton universality in B-0 -> K(S)(0)l(+)l(-) and B+ -> K*(+)l(+)l(-) decays where l is either an electron or a muon are presented. The differential branching fractions of B-0 -> K(S)(0)e(+)e(-) and B+ -> K*(+)e(+)e(-) decays are measured in intervals of the dilepton invariant mass squared. The measurements are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The results are consistent with the standard model and previous tests of lepton universality in related decay modes. The first observation of B-0 -> K(S)(0)e(+)e(-) and B+ -> K*(+)e(+)e(-) decays is reported.

Abstract: Large numbers of muons will be produced at facilities developed to probe the lepton-flavor-violating process μ-> e gamma. We show that by constructing a suitable asymmetry, radiative muon decay μ-> e gamma nu(mu)(nu) over bar (e) can also be used to test the WW gamma vertex at such facilities. The process has two missing neutrinos in the final state, and upon integrating their momenta the partial differential decay rate shows no radiation-amplitude zero. However, we establish that an easily separable part of the normalized differential decay rate that is odd under the exchange of photon and electron energies does have a zero in the case of the standard model (SM). This new type of zero has hitherto not been studied in the literature. A suitably constructed asymmetry using this fact enables a sensitive probe for the WW gamma vertex beyond the SM. With a simplistic analysis, we find that the C- and P-conserving dimension-four WW gamma vertex can be probed at O(10(-2)) with a satisfactory significance level.

Abstract: The addition of SU(2)(L) triplet fermions of zero hypercharge with the Standard Model (SM) helps to explain the origin of the neutrino mass by the so-called seesaw mechanism. Such a scenario is commonly known as the type-III seesaw model. After the electroweak symmetry breaking, the mixings between the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the neutral leptons are developed and play important roles in the study of the charged and neutral multiplets of the triplet fermions at the colliders. In this article, we study such interactions to produce these multiplets of the triplet fermion at the electron-positron and electron-proton colliders at different center-of-mass energies. We focus on the heavy triplets, for example, having mass in the TeV scale so that their decay products including the SM, the gauge bosons, or the Higgs boson can be sufficiently boosted, leading to a fat jet. Hence, we probe the mixing between light-heavy mass eigenstates of the neutrinos and compare the results with the bounds obtained by the electroweak precision study.

Abstract: We study the K¯p→YKK¯π reactions with K¯=K¯0,K− and Y=Σ0,Σ+,Λ, in the region of KK¯π invariant masses of 1200−1550 MeV. The strong coupling of the f1(1285) resonance to K∗K¯ makes the mechanism based on K∗ exchange very efficient to produce this resonance observed in the KK¯π invariant mass distribution. In addition, in all the reactions one observes an associated peak at 1420 MeV which comes from the K∗K¯ decay mode of the f1(1285) when the K∗ is placed off shell at higher invariant masses. We claim this to be the reason for the peak of the K∗K¯ distribution seen in the experiments which has been associated to the “f1(1420)” resonance.
