Abstract: In the context of f (T, B) modified teleparallel gravity, we investigate the influence of torsion scalar T and boundary term B on the confinement of both the gauge vector and Kalb-Ramond fields. Both fields require a suitable coupling in five-dimensional braneworld scenarios to yield a normalizable zero mode. We propose a Stueckelberg-like geometrical coupling that non-minimally couples the fields to the torsion scalar and boundary term. To set up our braneworld models, we use the first-order formalism in which two kinds of superpotential are taken: sine-Gordon and f(4)-deformed. The geometrical coupling is used to produce a localized zero mode. Moreover, we analyze the massive spectrum for both fields and obtain possible resonant massive modes. Furthermore, we do not find tachyonic modes leading to a consistent thick brane.

Abstract: In the framework of the low-energy effective field theory of the Standard Model extended with heavy neutral leptons (HNLs), we calculate the production rates of HNLs from meson decays triggered by dimension-six operators. We consider both lepton number-conserving and lepton-number-violating four-fermion operators involving either a pair of HNLs or a single HNL. Assuming that HNLs are long-lived, we perform simulations and investigate the reach of the proposed far detectors at the high-luminosity LHC to (i) active-heavy neutrino mixing and (ii) the Wilson coefficients associated with the effective operators, for HNL masses below the mass of the B-meson. We further convert the latter to the associated new-physics scales. Our results show that scales in excess of hundreds of TeV and the active-heavy mixing squared as small as 10(-15 )can be probed by these experiments.

Abstract: We study the LHC discovery potential in the search for heavy neutral leptons (HNL) with a new signature: a displaced shower in the CMS muon detector, giving rise to a large cluster of hits forming a displaced shower. A new Delphes module is used to model the CMS detector response for such displaced decays. We reinterpret a dedicated CMS search for neutral long-lived particles decaying in the CMS muon endcap detectors for the minimal HNL scenario. We demonstrate that this new strategy is particularly sensitive to active-sterile mixings with tau leptons, due to hadronic tau decays. HNL masses between similar to 1-6 GeV can be accessed for mixings as low as vertical bar V-tau N vertical bar(2) similar to 10(-7), probing unique regions of parameter space in the tau sector.

Abstract: In this work, we calculate the one-loop self-energy corrections to the gauge field in scalar electrodynamics modified by Lorentz-violating terms within the framework of the standard model extension (SME). We focus on both CP T-even and CP T-odd contributions. The kinetic part of the scalar sector contains a CP T-even symmetric Lorentz-breaking tensor, and the interaction terms include a vector contracted with the usual covariant derivative in a gauge-invariant manner. We computed the one-loop radiative corrections using dimensional regularization for both the CP T-even and CP T-odd cases. Additionally, we employed the Matsubara formalism to account for finite temperature effects.

Abstract: In this paper, we review scientific opportunities and challenges related to detection and reconstruction of low-energy (less than 100 MeV) signatures in liquid argon time-projection chamber (LArTPC) neutrino detectors. LArTPC neutrino detectors designed for performing precise long-baseline oscillation measurements with GeV-scale accelerator neutrino beams also have unique sensitivity to a range of physics and astrophysics signatures via detection of event features at and below the few tens of MeV range. In addition, low-energy signatures are an integral part of GeV-scale accelerator neutrino interaction final-states, and their reconstruction can enhance the oscillation physics sensitivities of LArTPC experiments. New physics signals from accelerator and natural sources also generate diverse signatures in the low-energy range, and reconstruction of these signatures can increase the breadth of Beyond the Standard Model scenarios accessible in LArTPC-based searches. A variety of experimental and theory-related challenges remain to realizing this full range of potential benefits. Neutrino interaction cross-sections and other nuclear physics processes in argon relevant to sub-hundred-MeV LArTPC signatures are poorly understood, and improved theory and experimental measurements are needed; pion decay-at-rest sources and charged particle and neutron test beams are ideal facilities for improving this understanding. There are specific calibration needs in the low-energy range, as well as specific needs for control and understanding of radiological and cosmogenic backgrounds. Low-energy signatures, whether steady-state or part of a supernova burst or larger GeV-scale event topology, have specific triggering, DAQ and reconstruction requirements that must be addressed outside the scope of conventional GeV-scale data collection and analysis pathways. Novel concepts for future LArTPC technology that enhance low-energy capabilities should also be explored to help address these challenges.
