Title (up) Heavy-quark spin symmetry for charmed and strange baryon resonances Type Journal Article
Year 2013 Publication Nuclear Physics A Abbreviated Journal Nucl. Phys. A
Volume 914 Issue Pages 488-493
Keywords Charm; Heavy-quark spin symmetry; Dynamically generated baryon resonances
Abstract We study charmed and strange odd-parity baryon resonances that are generated dynamically by a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channels model which incorporates heavy-quark spin symmetry. This is accomplished by extending the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry plus a suitable symmetry breaking. The model generates resonances with negative parity from the s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with 1/2(+) and 3/2(+) baryons in all the isospin, spin, and strange sectors with one, two, and three charm units. Some of our results can be identified with experimental data from several facilities, such as the CLEO, Belle, or BaBar Collaborations, as well as with other theoretical models, whereas others do not have a straightforward identification and require the compilation of more data and also a refinement of the model. Title (up) Measurement of prompt charged-particle production in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2022 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 166 - 39pp
Keywords Forward physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Minimum bias; Particle and resonance production; QCD
Abstract The differential cross-section of prompt inclusive production of long-lived charged particles in proton-proton collisions is measured using a data sample recorded by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV. The data sample, collected with an unbiased trigger, corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 nb(-1). The differential cross-section is measured as a function of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity in the ranges P-T is an element of [80, 10 000) MeV/c and eta is an element of [2.0, 4.8) and is determined separately for positively and negatively charged particles. The results are compared with predictions from various hadronic-interaction models.

Title (up) Measurement of the B-+/- production cross-section in pp collisions at root s=7 and 13 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2017 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 12 Issue 12 Pages 026 - 25pp
Keywords B physics; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments); Particle and resonance production
Abstract The production of B +/- mesons is studied in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 13 TeV, using B-+/- -> J/psi K-+/- decays and data samples corresponding to 1.0 fb(-1) and 0.3 fb(-1), respectively. The production cross-sections summed over both charges and integrated over the transverse momentum range 0 < pT < 40 GeV/c and the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5 are measured to be sigma-(pp -> B-+/- X, root s = 7 TeV) = 43.0 +/- 0.2 +/- 2.5 +/- 1.7 μb, sigma(pp -> B-+/- X, root s = 13 TeV) = 86.6 +/- 0.5 +/- 5.4 +/- 3.4 μb, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, and the third are due to the limited knowledge of the B-+/- -> J/psi K-+/- branching fraction. The ratio of the cross-section at 13 TeV to that at 7 TeV is determined to be 2.02 +/- 0.02 (stat) +/- 0.12 (syst). Differential cross-sections are also reported as functions of pi, and y. All results are in agreement with theoretical calculations based on the state-of-art fixed next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics.

Title (up) Measurement of the exclusive gamma production cross-section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV and 8 TeV Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 09 Issue 9 Pages 084 - 20pp
Keywords Diffraction; Hadron-Hadron Scattering; Forward physics; Particle and resonance production; Heavy quark production
Abstract A study is presented of central exclusive production of gamma(n S) states, where the gamma (n S) resonances decay to the mu(+) mu(-) final state, using p p collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment. The cross-section is measured in the rapidity range 2 < y (gamma) < 4.5 where the muons are reconstructed in the pseudorapidity range 2 < eta (mu(+/-)) < 4.5. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 fb(-1) and was collected at centreof- mass energies of 7TeV and 8TeV. The measured gamma(1 S) and gamma(2 S) production crosssections are sigma(pp -> p gamma(1S)p) = 9.0 +/- 1.7 pb and sigma(pp -> p gamma(2S)p) = 1.3 +/- 0.3 pb, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The gamma (1S) cross-section is also measured as a function of rapidity and is found to be in good agreement with Standard Model predictions. An upper limit is set at 3.4 pb at the 95% confidence level for the exclusive gamma(3 S) production cross-section, including possible contamination from chi b (3P) -> gamma (3S)gamma decays.

Title (up) Measurement of the properties of the Xi(b)(*0) baryon Type Journal Article
Year 2016 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
Volume 05 Issue 5 Pages 161 - 19pp
Keywords Spectroscopy; B physics; Particle and resonance production; Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract We perform a search for near-threshold I (b) (0) resonances decaying to I (b) (-) pi (+) in a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment. We observe one resonant state, with the following properties: m(Xi b*0) – m (Xi b-) – m (pi+) = 15.727 +/- 0.068 (stat) +/- 0.023 (syst) MeV/c2, Gamma(Xi b*0) = 0.90 +/- 0.16 (stat) +/- 0.08 (syst) MeV. This confirms the previous observation by the CMS collaboration. The state is consistent with the J (P) = 3/2(+)aEuro integral I (b) (au 0) resonance expected in the quark model. This is the most precise determination of the mass and the first measurement of the natural width of this state. We have also measured the ratio sigma(pp -> Xi b*0 X)B(Xi b*0 -> Xi b-pi+)/sigma(pp -> Xi b- X) = 0.28 +/- 0.03 (stat.) +/- 0.01 (syst).

Title (up) Multipactor Suppression by a Resonant Static Magnetic Field on a Dielectric Surface Type Journal Article
Year 2020 Publication IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices Abbreviated Journal IEEE Trans. Electron Devices

Abstract In this article, we study the suppression of the multipactor phenomenon on a dielectric surface by a resonant static magnetic field. A homemade Monte Carlo algorithm is developed for multipactor simulations on a dielectric surface driven by two orthogonal radio frequency (RF) electric field components. When the static magnetic field is perpendicular to the tangential and normal RF electric fields, it is shown that if the normal electric field lags the tangential electric field by pi/2, the superposition of the normal and tangential electric fields will trigger a gyro-acceleration of the electron cloud and restrain the multipactor discharge effectively. By contrast, when the normal electric field is in advance of the tangential electric field by pi/2, the difference between the normal and tangential electric fields drives gyro-motion of the electron cloud. Consequently, two enhanced discharge zones are inevitable. The suppression effects of the resonant static magnetic field that is parallel to the tangential RF electric field or to the normal RF electric field are also presented.

Abstract The last two decades have witnessed the discovery of a myriad of new and unexpected hadrons. The future holds more surprises for us, thanks to new-generation experiments. Understanding the signals and determining the properties of the states requires a parallel theoretical effort. To make full use of available and forthcoming data, a careful amplitude modeling is required, together with a sound treatment of the statistical uncertainties, and a systematic survey of the model dependencies. We review the contributions made by the Joint Physics Analysis Center to the field of hadron spectroscopy.
