Abstract |
The polarimeter vector field for multibody decays of a spin-half baryon is introduced as a generalisation of the baryon asymmetry parameters. Using a recent amplitude analysis of the Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+) decay performed at the LHCb experiment, we compute the distribution of the kinematic-dependent polarimeter vector for this process in the space of Mandelstam variables to express the polarised decay rate in a model-agnostic form. The obtained representation can facilitate polarisation measurements of the Lambda(+)(c) baryon and eases inclusion of the Lambda(+)(c)-> pK(-)pi(+) decay mode in hadronic amplitude analyses. |

Abstract |
We study the production of the four-lepton final state l+l−l+l−, predominantly produced by a pair of electroweak Z bosons, ZZ. Using the LoopSim method, we merge NLO QCD results for ZZ and ZZ+jet and obtain approximate NNLO predictions for ZZ production. The exact gluon-fusion loop-squared contribution to the ZZ process is also included. On top of that, we add to our merged sample the gluon-fusion ZZ+jet contributions from the gluon-gluon channel, which is formally of N^3LO and provides approximate results at NLO for the gluon-fusion mechanism. The predictions are obtained with the VBFNLO package and include the leptonic decays of the Z bosons with all off-shell and spin-correlation effects, as well as virtual photon contributions. We compare our predictions with existing results for the total inclusive cross section at NNLO and find a very good agreement. Then, we present results for differential distributions for two experimental setups, one used in searches for anomalous triple gauge boson couplings, the other in Higgs analyses in the four charged-lepton final state channel. We find that the approximate NNLO corrections are large, reaching up to 20% at high transverse momentum of the Z boson or the leading lepton, and are not covered by the NLO scale uncertainties. Distributions of the four-lepton invariant mass are, however, stable with respect to QCD corrections at this order. |

Abstract |
A Higgsless electroweak theory may be populated by spin-1 resonances around E similar to 1 TeV as a consequence of a new strong interacting sector, frequently proposed as a tool to smear the high-energy behaviour of scattering amplitudes, for instance, elastic gauge boson scattering. Information on those resonances, if they exist, must be contained in the low-energy couplings of the electroweak chiral effective theory. Using the facts that: i) the scattering of longitudinal gauge bosons, W-L, Z(L), can be well described in the high-energy region (E >> M-W) by the scattering of the corresponding Goldstone bosons (equivalence theorem) and ii) the zeros of the scattering amplitude carry the information on the heavier spectrum that has been integrated out; we employ the O(p(4)) electroweak chiral Lagrangian to identify the parameter space region of the low-energy couplings where vector resonances may arise. An estimate of their masses is also provided by our method. |

Abstract |
Cross sections and differential distributions for Z gamma production in association with two jets via vector boson fusion are presented at next-to-leading order in QCD. The leptonic decays of the Z boson with full off-shell effects and spin correlations are taken into account. The uncertainties due to different scale choices and pdf sets are studied. Furthermore, we analyze the effect of including anomalous quartic gauge couplings at NLO QCD. |

Abstract |
The yields and production rates of the radioisotopes Li-9 and He-8 created by cosmic muon spallation on C-12, have been measured by the two detectors of the Double Chooz experiment. The identical detectors are located at separate sites and depths, which means that they are subject to different muon spectra. The near (far) detector has an overburden of approximate to 120 m.w.e. (approximate to 300 m.w.e.) corresponding to a mean muon energy of 32.1 +/- 2.0 GeV (63.7 +/- 5.5 GeV). Comparing the data to a detailed simulation of the Li-9 and He-8 decays, the contribution of the He-8 radioisotope at both detectors is found to be compatible with zero. The observed Li-9 yields in the near and far detectors are 5.51 +/- 0.51 and 7.90 +/- 0.51, respectively, in units of 10(-8-1)g(-1)cm(2). The shallow overburdens of the near and far detectors give a unique insight when combined with measurements by KamLAND and Borexino to give the first multi-experiment, data driven relationship between the Li-9 yield and the mean muon energy according to the power law and Y-0 = (0.43 +/- 0.11) x 10(-8-1)g(-1)cm(2). This relationship gives future liquid scintillator based experiments the ability to predict their cosmogenic Li-9 background rates. |
