Abstract |
The decay Z -> b (b) over bar is reconstructed in pp collision data, corresponding to 2 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 8 TeV. The product of the Z production cross-section and the Z -> b (b) over bar branching fraction is measured for candidates in the fiducial region defined by two particle-level b-quark jets with pseudorapidities in the range 2.2 < eta < 4.2, with transverse momenta p(T) > 20 GeV and dijet invariant mass in the range 45 < m(jj) < 165 GeV. From a signal yield of 5462 +/- 763 Z -> b (b) over bar events, where the uncertainty is statistical, a production cross-section times branching fraction of 332 +/- 46 +/- 59 pb is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The measured significance of the signal yield is 6.0 standard deviations. This measurement represents the first observation of the Z -> b (b) over bar production in the forward region of pp collisions. |

Abstract |
A search for B+ -> D-s(+) K+ K- decays is performed using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.8 fb(-1), collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV with the LHCb experiment. A significant signal is observed for the first time and the branching fraction is determined to be B(B+ -> D-s(+) K+ K-) = (7.1 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.7) x 10(-6), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third due to the uncertainty on the branching fraction of the normalisation mode B+ -> D-s(+)(D) over bar (0). A search is also performed for the pure annihilation decay B+ -> D-s(+)(D) over bar (0). No significant signal is observed and a limit of B(B+ -> D-s(+) phi) < 4.9 x 10(-7) (4.2 x 10(-7)) is set on the branching fraction at 95% (90%) confidence level. |

Abstract |
Investigations of the existence of pentaquark states containing a single b (anti) quark decaying weakly into four specific final states J/psi K+pi(-)p, J/psi K-pi(-)p, J/psi K-pi(+)p, and J/psi phi(1020)p are reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions acquired with the LHCb detector. Signals are not observed and upper limits are set on the product of the production cross section times branching fraction with respect to that of the A(b)(0). |

Abstract |
Measurements of CP observables in B-+/- -> D(*)K-+/- and B-+/- -> D(*)pi(+/-) decays are presented, where D(*) indicates a neutral Dor D* meson that is an admixture of D(*)(0) and (D) over bar(*)(0) states. Decays of the D* meson to the D pi(0)and D gamma final states are partially reconstructed without inclusion of the neutral pion or photon, resulting in distinctive shapes in the Bcandidate invariant mass distribution. Decays of the D meson are fully reconstructed in the K-+/-pi(-/+), K+K- and pi(+)pi(-) final states. The analysis uses a sample of charged Bmesons produced in ppcollisions collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0, 1.0 and 2.0fb- 1taken at centre- of- mass energies of root s = 7, 8 and 13 TeV, respectively. The study of B-perpendicular to -> D*K-perpendicular to and B-perpendicular to -> D*pi(perpendicular to) decays using a partial reconstruction method is the first of its kind, while the measurement of B-+/- -> DK +/- and B-+/- -> D pi(+/-) decays is an update of previous LHCb measurements. The B-+/- -> DK +/- results are the most precise to date. |

Abstract |
Searches are performed for both promptlike and long-lived dark photons, A', produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using A' -> mu(+)mu(-) decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. The promptlike A' search covers the mass range from near the dimuon threshold up to 70 GeV, while the long-lived A' search is restricted to the low-mass region 214 < mo(A') < 350 MeV. No evidence for a signal is found, and 90% confidence level exclusion limits are placed on the gamma-A' kinetic-mixing strength. The constraints placed on promptlike dark photons are the most stringent to date for the mass range 10.6 < m(A') < 70 GeV, and are comparable to the best existing limits for m(A') < 0.5 GeV. The search for long-lived dark photons is the first to achieve sensitivity using a displaced-vertex signature. |
