Abstract |
A measurement of the B-s(0) decay parameters in the B-s(0) -> J/psi/phi channel using an integrated luminosity of 14.3 fb(-1) collected by the ATLAS detector from 8TeV pp collisions at the LHC is presented. The measured parameters include the CP-violating phase phi(s), the decay width Gamma(s) and the width di ff erence between the mass eigenstates Delta Gamma(s). The values measured for the physical parameters are statistically combined with those from 4.9 fb-1 of 7TeV data, leading to the following: phi(s) = -0.090 +/- 0.078 (stat.) +/- 0.041 (syst.) rad Delta Gamma s = 0.085 +/- 0.011 (stat.) +/- 0.007 (syst.) ps(-1) Gamma(s) = 0.675 +/- 0.003 (stat.) +/- 0.003 (syst:) ps(-1). In the analysis the parameter Delta Gamma(s) is constrained to be positive. Results for phi(s) and Delta Gamma(s) are also presented as 68% and 95% likelihood contours in the phi(s)-Delta Gamma(s) plane. Also measured in this decay channel are the transversity amplitudes and corresponding strong phases. All measurements are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. |

Abstract |
We study the five-body decays u(-) -> e(-)e(+)e(-)nu u (nu) over bar (e) and tau(-) -> l(-)l'+l'-nu(tau)(nu) over bar (l) for l, l' = e, u within the Standard Model (SM) and in a general effective field theory description of the weak interactions at low energies. We compute the branching ratios and compare our results with two previous – mutually discrepan – SM calculations. By assuming a general structure for the weak currents we derive the expressions for the energy and angular distributions of the three charged leptons when the decaying lepton is polarized, which will be useful in precise tests of the weak charged current at Belle II. In these decays, leptonic T-odd correlations in triple products of spin and momenta – which may signal time reversal violation in the leptonic sector – are suppressed by the tiny neutrino masses. Therefore, a measurement of such T-violating observables would be associated to neutrinoless lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays, where this effect is not extremely suppressed. We also study the backgrounds that the SM five-lepton lepton decays constitute to searches of LFV L- -> ? l(-)l'+l'(-) decays. Searches at high values of the invariant mass of the l'(+)l'(-) pair look the most convenient way to overcome the background. |

Abstract |
A search for CP violation in the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> pK(-)mu(+)mu(-) is presented. This decay is mediated by flavour-changing neutral-current transitions in the Standard Model and is potentially sensitive to new sources of CP violation. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The Lambda(0)(b) -> pK(-)mu(+)mu(-) decay is observed for the first time, and two observables that are sensitive to different manifestations of CP violation are measured, Delta A(CP) equivalent to A(CP) (Lambda(0)(b) -> pK(-)mu(+)mu(-)) – A(CP) (Lambda(0)(b) -> pK(-)J/psi) and a(CP)((T) over cap -odd), where the latter is based on asymmetries in the angle between the mu(+)mu(-) and pK(-) decay planes. These are measured to be Delta A(CP) = (-3.5 +/- 5.0 (stat) +/- 0.2 (syst)) x 10(-2), a(CP)((T) over cap -odd) = (1.2 +/- 5.0 (stat) +/- 0.7 (syst)) x 10(-2), and no evidence for CP violation is found. |

Abstract |
The decays of B (s) (0) and mesons into the J/psi K (+) K (-) final state are studied in the K (+) K (-) mass region above the I center dot(1020) meson in order to determine the resonant substructure and measure the CP-violating phase, I center dot (s) , the decay width, I“ (s) , and the width difference between light and heavy mass eigenstates, Delta I” (s) . A decay-time dependent amplitude analysis is employed. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) produced in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions at the LHC, collected by the LHCb experiment. The measurement determines I center dot (s) = 119 +/- 107 +/- 34 mrad. A combination with previous LHCb measurements using similar decays into the J/psi pi (+) pi (-) and J/psi I center dot(1020) final states gives I center dot (s) = 1 +/- 37 mrad, consistent with the Standard Model prediction. |

Abstract |
Motivated by discrete flavour symmetry models, we analyse Spontaneous CP Violation (SCPV) for potentials involving three or six Higgs fi elds (both electroweak doublets and singlets) which fall into irreducible triplet representations of discrete symmetries belonging to the Delta(3n(2)) and Delta(6n(2)) series, including A(4), S-4, Delta(27) and Delta(54). For each case, we give the potential and fi nd various global minima for di ff erent regions of the parameter space of the potential. Using CP-odd basis Invariants that indicate the presence of Spontaneous CP Violation we separate the VEVs into those that do or do not violate CP. In cases where CP is preserved we reveal a CP symmetry of the potential that is preserved by those VEVs, otherwise we display a non-zero CP-odd Invariant. Finally we identify interesting cases where there is Spontaneous Geometrical CP Violation in which the VEVs have geometrical phases. |
