Abstract: Using pp collision data collected by LHCb at center-of-mass energies root s = 7 TeV and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), the ratio of the branching fraction of the B-c(+) -> psi(2S)pi(+) decay relative to that of the B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+) decay is measured to be 0.268 +/- 0.032(stat) +/- 0.007(syst) +/- 0.006(BF). The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the J/psi -> mu(+)mu(-) and psi(2S) -> mu(+)mu(-) decays. This measurement is consistent with the previous LHCb result, and the statistical uncertainty is halved.

Abstract: The e(+)e(-) -> K+K- cross section and charged-kaon electromagnetic form factor are measured in the e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energy range (E) from 2.6 to 8.0 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. The study is performed using 469 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II2 e(+)e(-) collider at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The form factor is found to decrease with energy faster than 1/E-2 and approaches the asymptotic QCD prediction. Production of the K+K- final state through the J/psi and psi(2S) intermediate states is observed. The results for the kaon form factor are used together with data from other experiments to perform a model-independent determination of the relative phases between electromagnetic (single-photon) and strong amplitudes in J/psi and psi(2S). K+K- decays. The values of the branching fractions measured in the reaction e(+)e(-) -> K+K- are shifted relative to their true values due to interference between resonant and nonresonant amplitudes. The values of these shifts are determined to be about +/- 5% for the J/psi meson and +/- 15% for the psi(2S) meson.

Abstract: A search is presented for hidden-sector bosons, chi, produced in the decay B-0 -> K*(892)(0)chi, with K*(892)(0) -> K+pi(-) and chi -> mu(+)mu(-). The search is performed using pp-collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. No significant signal is observed in the accessible mass range 214 <= m(chi) <= 4350 MeV, and upper limits are placed on the branching fraction product B(B-0 -> K*(892)(0)chi) X B(chi -> mu(+)mu(-)) as a function of the mass and lifetime of the chi boson. These limits are of the order of 10(-9) for chi lifetimes less than 100 ps over most of the m(chi) range, and place the most stringent constraints to date on many theories that predict the existence of additional low-mass bosons.

Abstract: Charge asymmetry in the processes e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma and e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma is measured using 232 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV. An observable is introduced and shown to be very robust against detector asymmetries while keeping a large sensitivity to the physical charge asymmetry that results from the interference between initial-and final-state radiation (FSR). The asymmetry is determined as a function of the invariant mass of the final-state tracks from production threshold to a few GeV/c(2). It is compared to the expectation from QED for e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma, and from theoretical models for e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma. A clear interference pattern is observed in e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma, particularly in the vicinity of the f(2)(1270) resonance. The inferred rate of lowest-order FSR production is consistent with the QED expectation for e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma, and is negligibly small for e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-)gamma.

Abstract: Using a pp collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb detector, we present the first search for the strangeness-changing weak decay Xi(-)(b) -> Delta(0)(b)pi(-). No b hadron decay of this type has been seen before. A signal for this decay, corresponding to a significance of 3.2 standard deviations, is reported. The relative rate is measured to be f Xi(-)(b)/f Lambda B-0(b)(Xi(-)(b) -> Lambda(0)(b)pi(-)) = (5.7 +/- 1.8(-0.9)(+0.8)) x 10(-4) where f Xi(-)(b) and f Lambda(0)(b) are the b -> Xi(-)(b) and b -> Lambda(0)(b) fragmentation fractions, and B(Xi(-)(b) -> Lambda(0)(b)pi(-)) is the branching fraction. Assuming f Xi(-)(b)/f Lambda(0)(b) is bounded between 0.1 and 0.3, the branching fraction B(Xi(-)(b) -> Lambda(0)(b)pi(-)) would lie in the range from (0.57 +/- 0.21)% to (0.19 +/- 0.07)%.
