Carrasco, J., & Zurita, J. (2024). Emerging jet probes of strongly interacting dark sectors. J. High Energy Phys., 01(1), 034–23pp.
Abstract: A strongly interacting dark sector can give rise to a class of signatures dubbed dark showers, where in analogy to the strong sector in the Standard Model, the dark sector undergoes its own showering and hadronization, before decaying into Standard Model final states. When the typical decay lengths of the dark sector mesons are larger than a few centimeters (and no larger than a few meters) they give rise to the striking signature of emerging jets, characterized by a large multiplicity of displaced vertices. In this article we consider the general reinterpretation of the CMS search for emerging jets plus prompt jets into arbitrary new physics scenarios giving rise to emerging jets. More concretely, we consider the cases where the SM Higgs mediates between the dark sector and the SM, for several benchmark decay scenarios. Our procedure is validated employing the same model than the CMS emerging jet search. We find that emerging jets can be the leading probe in regions of parameter space, in particular when considering the so-called gluon portal and dark photon portal decay benchmarks. With the current 16.1 fb-1 of luminosity this search can exclude down to O\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ \mathcal{O} $$\end{document}(20)% exotic branching ratio of the SM Higgs, but a naive extrapolation to the 139 fb-1 luminosity employed in the current model-independent, indirect bound of 16 % would probe exotic branching ratios into dark quarks down to below 10 %. Further extrapolating these results to the HL-LHC, we find that one can pin down exotic branching ratio values of 1%, which is below the HL-LHC expectations of 2.5-4 %. We make our recasting code publicly available, as part of the LLP Recasting Repository.

Herrero-Brocal, A., & Vicente, A. (2024). The majoron coupling to charged leptons. J. High Energy Phys., 01(1), 078–33pp.
Abstract: The particle spectrum of all Majorana neutrino mass models with spontaneous violation of global lepton number include a Goldstone boson, the so-called majoron. The presence of this massless pseudoscalar changes the phenomenology dramatically. In this work we derive general analytical expressions for the 1-loop coupling of the majoron to charged leptons. These can be applied to any model featuring a majoron that have a clear hierarchy of energy scales, required for an expansion in powers of the low-energy scale to be valid. We show how to use our general results by applying them to some example models, finding full agreement with previous results in several popular scenarios and deriving novel ones in other setups.

Lin, J. X., Li, J. T., Liang, W. H., Chen, H. X., & Oset, E. (2024). J/ψ decays into ω(φ) f1(1285) and ω(φ) “f1(1420)”. Eur. Phys. J. C, 84(1), 52–8pp.
Abstract: We perform a theoretical study of the J/psi -> omega (Phi)K* K + c.c. -> omega(Phi)K-0 pi+ K- reactions with the assumption that the f1(1285) is dynamically generated from a single channel K*K + c.c interaction in the chiral unitary approach. Two peaks in the K-0 pi+ K- invariant mass distribution are observed, one clear peak locates at the f(1)(1285) nominal mass, the other peak locates at around 1420MeV with about 70MeV width. We conclude that the former peak is associated with the f(1)(1285) and the latter peak is not a genuine resonance but a manifestation of the kinematic effect in the higher energy region caused by the K* K + c.c. decay mode of the f(1)(1285).

Araujo Filho, A. A. (2024). Implications of a Simpson-Visser solution in Verlinde's framework. Eur. Phys. J. C, 84(1), 73–22pp.
Abstract: This study focuses on investigating a regular black hole within the framework of Verlinde's emergent gravity. In particular, we explore the main aspects of the modified Simpson-Visser solution. Our analysis reveals the presence of a unique physical event horizon under certain conditions. Moreover, we study the thermodynamic properties, including the Hawking temperature, the entropy, and the heat capacity. Based on these quantities, our results indicate several phase transitions. Geodesic trajectories for photon-like particles, encompassing photon spheres and the formation of black hole shadows, are also calculated to comprehend the behavior of light in the vicinity of the black hole. Additionally, we also provide the calculation of the time delay and the deflection angle. Corroborating our results, we include an additional application in the context of high-energy astrophysical phenomena: neutrino energy deposition. Finally, we investigate the quasinormal modes using third-order WKB approximation.

Penalva, N., Flynn, J. M., Hernandez, E., & Nieves, J. (2024). Study of new physics effects in (B)over-bars → Ds(*) τ-(ν)over-bar τ semileptonic decays using lattice QCD form factors and heavy quark effective theory. J. High Energy Phys., 01(1), 163–33pp.
Abstract: We benefit from the lattice QCD determination by the HPQCD of the Standard Model (SM) form factors for the (B) over bar (s) -> D-s [Phys. Rev. D101(2020) 074513] and the SM and tensor ones for the (B) over bar (s) -> D-s* (arXiv:2304.03137[hep-lat]) semileptonic decays, and the heavy quark effective theory (HQET) relations for the analogous B -> D-(*()) decays obtained by F.U. Bernlochner et al. in Phys. Rev. D95(2017) 115008, to extract the leading and sub-leading Isgur-Wise functions for the (B) over bar (s) -> D-s(()*()) decays. Further use of the HQET relations allows us to evaluate the corresponding scalar, pseudoscalar and tensor form factors needed for a phenomenological study of new physics (NP) effects on the (B) over bar (s) -> D-s(()*()) semileptonic decay. At present, the experimental values for the ratios R-D(*) = Gamma[ (B) over bar -> D-(*())(tau- (nu) over bar tau)]/Gamma[(B) over bar -> D-(*())e(-)(mu(-)) (nu) over bar (e(mu))]are the best signal in favor of lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) seen in charged current (CC) b -> c decays. In this work we conduct a study of NP effects on the (B) over bar (s) -> D-s(()*()) tau(-)(tau) semileptonic decays by comparing tau spin, angular and spin-angular asymmetry distributions obtained within the SM and three different NP scenarios. As expected from SU(3) light-flavor symmetry, we get results close to the ones found in a similar analysis of the (B) over bar -> D-(*()) case. The measurement of the (B) over bar (s) -> D-s(()*())(l (nu) over bar tau) semileptonic decays, which is within reach of present experiments, could then be of relevance in helping to establish or rule out LFUV in CC b -> c transitions.
