Abstract In this work we consider point-like monopole production via photon-fusion and Drell-Yan processes in the framework of an effective U(1) gauge field theory obtained from conventional models describing the interaction of magnetically-charged fields with ordinary photons, upon electric-magnetic dualisation. We present arguments based on such dualities which support the conjecture of an effective monopole-velocity-dependent magnetic charge. For the cases of 1 monopoles, we also include a magnetic-moment which is treated as a new phenomenological parameter and, together with the velocity-dependent coupling, allows for a perturbative treatment of the cross-section calculation. We discuss unitarity issues within these effective field theories, in particular we point out that in the spin-1 monopole case only the may restore unitarity. However from an effective-field-theory point of view, this lack of unitarity should not be viewed as an impediment for the phenomenological studies and experimental searches of generic spin-1 monopoles, given that the potential appearance of new degrees of freedom in the ultraviolet completion of such models might restore it. The second part of the paper deals with an appropriate implementation of photon-fusion and Drell-Yan processes based on the above theoretical scenarios into MadGraph UFO models, aimed to serve as a useful tool in interpretations of monopole searches at colliders such as LHC, especially for photon fusion, given that it has not been considered by experimental collaborations so far. Moreover, the experimental implications of such perturbatively reliable monopole searches have been laid out.

Title Measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of charged particles produced in root s NN=5.02 TeV Pb+ Pb collisions with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article

Abstract Measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy in lead-lead collisions at v s NN = 5.02 TeV are presented using a data sample corresponding to 0.49 nb -1 integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015. The recorded minimum-bias sample is enhanced by triggers for “ ultra-central” collisions, providing an opportunity to perform detailed study of flow harmonics in the regime where the initial state is dominated by fluctuations. The anisotropy of the charged-particle azimuthal angle distributions is characterized by the Fourier coefficients, v2-v7, which are measured using the two-particle correlation, scalar-product and event-plane methods. The goal of the paper is to provide measurements of the differential as well as integrated flow harmonics vn over wide ranges of the transverse momentum, 0.5 < pT < 60 GeV, the pseudorapidity, |.| < 2.5, and the collision centrality 0-80%. Results from different methods are compared and discussed in the context of previous and recent measurements in Pb+ Pb collisions at v s NN = 2.76TeV and 5.02TeV. In particular, the shape of the pT dependence of elliptic or triangular flow harmonics is observed to be very similar at different centralities after scaling the vn and pT values by constant factors over the centrality interval 0-60% and the pT range 0.5 < pT < 5 GeV.

Title Search for heavy Majorana or Dirac neutrinos and right-handed W gauge bosons in final states with two charged leptons and two jets at TeV with the ATLAS detector Type Journal Article
Year 2019 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 01 Issue 1 Pages 016 - 45pp
  Keywords Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract A search for heavy right-handed Majorana or Dirac neutrinos N (R) and heavy right-handed gauge bosons W (R) is performed in events with a pair of energetic electrons or muons, with the same or opposite electric charge, and two energetic jets. The events are selected from pp collision data with an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb(-1) collected by the ATLAS detector at TeV. No significant deviations from the Standard Model are observed. The results are interpreted within the theoretical framework of a left-right symmetric model and lower limits are set on masses in the heavy right-handed W boson and neutrino mass plane. The excluded region extends to TeV for both Majorana and Dirac N (R) neutrinos.

Title Measurement of the Z gamma ->nu nu gamma production cross section in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector and limits on anomalous triple gauge-boson couplings Type Journal Article
Year 2018 Publication Journal of High Energy Physics Abbreviated Journal J. High Energy Phys.
  Volume 12 Issue 12 Pages 010 - 42pp
  Keywords Hadron-Hadron scattering (experiments)
Abstract The production of Z bosons in association with a high-energy photon (Z production) is studied in the neutrino decay channel of the Z boson using pp collisions at =13 TeV. The analysis uses a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 36.1fb(-1) collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015 and 2016. Candidate Z events with invisible decays of the Z boson are selected by requiring significant transverse momentum (p(T)) of the dineutrino system in conjunction with a single isolated photon with large transverse energy (E-T). The rate of Z production is measured as a function of photon E-T, dineutrino system p(T) and jet multiplicity. Evidence of anomalous triple gauge-boson couplings is sought in Z production with photon E-T greater than 600 GeV. No excess is observed relative to the Standard Model expectation, and upper limits are set on the strength of ZZ and Z couplings

Abstract Measurements of fiducial integrated and differential cross sections for inclusive W +, W -and Z boson production are reported. They are based on 25.0 +/- 0.5 pb -1 of pp collision data at v s = 5.02 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Electron and muon decay channels are analysed, and the combined W +, W -and Z integrated cross sections are found to be sW+ = 2266 +/- 9 (stat) +/- 29 (syst) +/- 43 (lumi) pb, sW-= 1401 +/- 7 (stat) +/- 18 (syst) +/- 27 (lumi) pb, and sZ = 374.5 +/- 3.4 (stat)+/- 3.6 (syst)+/- 7.0 (lumi) pb, in good agreement with next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD crosssection calculations. Thesemeasurements serve as references for Pb+ Pb interactions at the LHC at v sNN = 5.02 TeV.
