Abstract: Measurements of charm mixing and CP violation parameters from the decay-time-dependent ratio of D-0 -> K+pi(-) to D-0 -> K-pi(+) decay rates and the charge-conjugate ratio are reported. The analysis uses (B) over bar -> D*(+) μX-, and charge-conjugate decays, where D *(+) -> D-0 pi(+), and D-0 -> K-+/-pi(-/+). The pp collision data are recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies root s = 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The data are analyzed under three hypotheses: (i) mixing assuming CP symmetry, (ii) mixing assuming no direct CP violation in the Cabibbo-favored or doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay amplitudes, and (iii) mixing allowing either direct CP violation and/or CP violation in the superpositions of flavor eigenstates defining the mass eigenstates. The data are also combined with those from a previous LHCb study of D-0 -> K pi decays from a disjoint set of D*(+) candidates produced directly in pp collisions. In all cases, the data are consistent with the hypothesis of CP symmetry.

Abstract: The B-+/- meson production asymmetry in pp collisions is measured using B-+/- -> (D) over bar (0)pi(+) decays. The data were recorded by the LHCb experiment during Run 1 of the LHC at center- of- mass energies of ffiffiffi root s = 7 and 8 TeV. The production asymmetries, integrated over transverse momenta in the range 2 < p(T) < 30 GeV/c, and rapidities in the range 2.1 < y < 4.5 are measured to be A(prod)(B+, root s = 7 TeV) = (-0.41 +/- 0.49 +/- 0.10) x 10(- 2), A(prod)(B+, root s = 8 TeV = (- 0.53 +/- 0.31 +/- 0.10) x 10(-2), where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These production asymmetries are used to correct the raw asymmetries of (B+ -> J/psi K+) decays, thus allowing a measurement of the CP asymmetry, A(CP)(B+-> J/psi K+) = (0.09 +/- 0.27 +/- 0.07) x 10(-2)

Abstract: A search for a long-lived scalar particle. is performed, looking for the decay B+ -> K+chi with chi ->mu(+)mu(-) pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of root s = 7 and 8 TeV. This new scalar particle, predicted by hidden sector models, is assumed to have a narrow width. The signal would manifest itself as an excess in the dimuon invariant mass distribution over the Standard Model background. No significant excess is observed in the accessible ranges of mass 250 < m(chi) < 4700 MeV/c(2) and lifetime 0.1 < tau(chi) < 1000 ps. Upper limits on the branching fraction B(B-broken vertical bar -> K-broken vertical bar chi(mu(vertical bar) mu(-))) at 95% confidence level are set as a function of m(chi) and tau(chi), varying between 2 x 10(-10) and 10(-7). These are the most stringent limits to date. The limits are interpreted in the context of a model with a light inflaton particle.

Abstract: A search for the decays B-c(+) -> J/psi D-(*()0) Kappa(+) and B-c(+) -> J/psi D-(*K)+*(0) is performed with data collected at the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The decays B-c(+) -> J/psi(DK+)-K-0 and B-c(+) -> J/psi D*K-0(+) are observed for the first time, while first evidence is reported for the B-c(broken vertical bar) -> J/psi D*K-broken vertical bar(*0) and B-c(broken vertical bar) -> J/psi(DK)-K-broken vertical bar*(0) decays. The branching fractions of these decays are determined relative to the B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+) decay. The B-c(+) mass is measured, using the J/psi(DK+)-K-0 final state, to be 6274.28 +/- 1.40(stat) +/- 0.32(syst) MeV/c(2). This is the most precise single measurement of the B-c(+) mass to date.

Abstract: The B+ -> D*K--(+)pi(+) decay potentially provides an excellent way to investigate charm meson spectroscopy. The decay is searched for in a sample of proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). A clear signal is observed, and the ratio of its branching fraction to that of the B+ -> D*(-)pi(+)pi(+) normalization channel is measured to be beta(B+ -> D*K--(+)pi(+))/beta(B+ -> D*(-)pi(+)pi(+)) = (6.39 +/- 0.27 +/- 0.48) x 10(-2); where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first observation of the B+ -> D*K--(+)pi(+) decay.

Abstract: Decays of B-0 and B-s(0) mesons to the charmless baryonic final states p (p) over barh(+)h'(-), where h and h' each denote a kaon or a pion, are searched for using the LHCb detector. The analysis is based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). Four-body charmless baryonic B-s(0) decays are observed for the first time. The decays B-s(0) -> p (p) over barK(+) K-, B-s(0) -> p (p) over barK(+/-) pi(inverted perpendicular), B-0 -> p (p) over barK(+) pi(inverted perpendicular) and B-0 -> p (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-) are observed with a significance greater than 5 standard deviations; evidence at 4.1 standard deviations is found for the B-0 -> p (p) over barK(+) K- decay and an upper limit is set on the branching fraction for B-s(0) -> p (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-). Branching fractions in the kinematic region m(p (p) over bar) < 2850 MeV/c(2) are measured relative to the B-0 -> J/psi(-> p<(p)over bar>) K* (892)(0) channel.

Abstract: A measurement of the shape of the differential decay rate and the associated Isgur-Wise function for the decay Lambda(0)(b) ->+ Lambda(+)(c) mu(-) is reported, using data corresponding to 3 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions. The Lambda(+)(c) mu(-)(nu) over bar μ(+anything) final states are reconstructed through the detection of a muon and Lambda(+)(c) baryon decaying into pK(-)pi(+), and the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c)pi(+)pi(-)mu(-)(nu) over bar μare used to determine contributions from Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(c)*(+)mu(-)(nu) over bar μdecays. The measured dependence of the differential decay rate upon the squared four-momentum transfer between the heavy baryons, q(2), is compared with expectations from heavy-quark effective theory and from unquenched lattice QCD predictions.

Abstract: Investigations of the existence of pentaquark states containing a single b (anti) quark decaying weakly into four specific final states J/psi K+pi(-)p, J/psi K-pi(-)p, J/psi K-pi(+)p, and J/psi phi(1020)p are reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions acquired with the LHCb detector. Abstract: We report measurements of charm-mixing parameters based on the decay-time-dependent ratio of D-0 -> K+pi(-) to D-0 -> K-pi(+) rates. The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb(-1) recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2011 through 2016. Assuming charge-parity (CP) symmetry, the mixing parameters are determined to be x'(2) = (3.9 +/- 2.7) x 10(-5), y' = (5.28 +/- 0.52) x 10(-3), and R-D = (3.454 +/- 0.031) x 10(-3). Without this assumption, the measurement is performed separately for D-0 and (D) over bar (0) mesons, yielding a direct CP-violating asymmetry A(D) = (-0.1 +/- 9.1) x 10(-3), and magnitude of the ratio of mixing parameters 1.00 < vertical bar q/p vertical bar < 1.35 at the 68.3% confidence level. All results include statistical and systematic uncertainties and improve significantly upon previous single-measurement determinations. No evidence for CP violation in charm mixing is observed.

Test of lepton flavor universality by the measurement of the B-0 -> D*(-) tau(+) nu(tau) branching fraction using three-prong tau decays. Phys. Rev. D, 97(7), 072013–26pp.
Abstract: The ratio of branching fractions R(D*(-)) = B(B-0 -> D*(-) tau(+)nu(tau))/(B-0 -> D*(-) mu(+)nu(mu)) is measured using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The tau lepton is reconstructed with three charged pions in the final state. A novel method is used that exploits the different vertex topologies of signal and backgrounds to isolate samples of semitauonic decays of b hadrons with high purity. Using the B-0 -> D*(-) pi(+)pi(-)pi(+) decay as the normalization channel, the ratio B(B-0 -> D*(-) tau(+)nu(tau))/B(B-0 -> D* pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)) is measured to be 1.97 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.18, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. An average of branching fraction measurements for the normalization channel is used to derive B(B-0 -> D*(-) tau(+)nu(tau))(_)= (1.42 +/- 0.094 +/- 0.129 +/- 0.054)%, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of B(B-0 -> D*(-) pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)). A test of lepton flavor universality is performed using the well- measured branching fraction B(B-0 -> D*(-) mu(+)nu(mu)) to compute R(D*(-))0 = 0.291 +/- 0.019 +/- 0.026 +/- 0.013, where the third uncertainty originates from the uncertainties on B(B-0 -> D*(-) pi(+)pi(-)pi(+)) and B(B-0 -> D*(-) mu(+)nu(mu)) This measurement is in agreement with the Standard Model prediction and with previous measurements.
