Title Toward a Density Functional Description of Liquid pH(2) Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication (up) Journal of Physical Chemistry A Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. Chem. A
Volume 115 Issue 25 Pages 6910-6917
Keywords
Abstract A finite-temperature density functional approach to describe the properties of parahydrogen in the liquid vapor coexistence region is presented. The first proposed functional is zero-range, where the density-gradient term is adjusted so as to reproduce the surface tension of the liquid vapor interface at low temperature. The second functional is finite-range and, while it is fitted to reproduce bulk pH(2) properties only, it is shown to yield surface properties in good agreement with experiments. These functionals are used to study the surface thickness of the liquid vapor interface, the wetting transition of parahydrogen on a planar Rb model surface, and homogeneous cavitation in bulk liquid pH(2).

Title Bifurcations in the Lozi map Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication (up) Journal of Physics A Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. A
Volume 44 Issue 30 Pages 305101 - 14pp
Keywords
Abstract We study the presence in the Lozi map of a type of abrupt order-to-order and order-to-chaos transitions which are mediated by an attractor made of a continuum of neutrally stable limit cycles, all with the same period.

Title Fritzsch neutrino mass matrix from S-3 symmetry Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication (up) Journal of Physics G Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. G
Volume 38 Issue 1 Pages 015003 - 10pp
Keywords
Abstract We present an extension of the standard model (SM) based on the discrete flavor symmetry S-3 which gives a neutrino mass matrix with two-zero texture of Fritzsch type and nearly diagonal charged lepton mass matrix. The model is compatible with the normal hierarchy only and predicts sin(2) theta(13) approximate to 0.01 at the best-fit values of solar and atmospheric parameters and maximal leptonic CP violation.

Title Three-particle correlations in QCD jets and beyond Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication (up) Journal of Physics G Abbreviated Journal J. Phys. G
Volume 38 Issue 11 Pages 115007 - 34pp
Keywords
Abstract In this paper, we present a detailed study of three-particle correlations in quark and gluon jets. We give theoretical results for this observable in the double logarithmic approximation and the modified leading logarithmic approximation. In both resummation schemes, we use the formalism of the generating functional and solve the evolution equations analytically from the steepest descent evaluation of the one-particle distribution. In addition, in this paper we include predictions beyond the limiting spectrum approximation and study this observable near the hump of the single inclusive distribution. We thus provide a further test of the local parton hadron duality and make predictions for the LHC. The computation of higher rank correlators is presented in the double logarithmic approximation and shown to be rather cumbersome.

Title Improvements on Decay Heat Summation Calculations by Means of Total Absorption Gamma-ray Spectroscopy Measurements Type Journal Article
Year 2011 Publication (up) Journal of the Korean Physical Society Abbreviated Journal J. Korean Phys. Soc.
Volume 59 Issue 2 Pages 1479-1482
Keywords Decay heat; Total absorption; Trap-assisted spectroscopy
Abstract The decay heat of fission products plays an important role in predictions of the heat released by nuclear fuel in reactors. In this contribution we present results of the analysis of the measurement of the beta decay of some refractory isotopes that were considered possible important contributors to the decay heat in reactors. The measurements presented here were performed at the IGISOL facility of the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. In our measurements we have combined for the first time a Penning trap (JYFLTRAP), which was used as a high resolution isobaric separator, with a total absorption spectrometer. The results of the measurements as well as their consequences for decay heat summation calculations are discussed.
